~Justice For All~

Sonic Boy's confindence turned to dust as he saw that Greenscale was thinking about something other than catching him and Sundra. He felt like his dust confindence was crushed with a mallet when he had failed to catch them. Sonic Boy almost had enough time to let out the first second of his scream but Greenscale caught him. He felt Sundra being flung away from his body. "NO!" Sonic Boy exclaimed as he saw his friend fly away. He smiled and let out a sigh of relief as Greenscale (revealing his quick thinking skills for the fourth time) used his tongue to grab her. "I'm okay, a little shaken," he replied to Greenscale's question.

 

Sundra nearly lost her breath when she saw that she missed Greenscale, but then was suddenly stopped in mid-fall. She dangled there in the air, feeling her heart beating quickly in her chest. He caught her, and that's all that mattered. 'Even though it was a little slim,' she thought. Sundra took in a big gulp of air and nodded her head. "Y-yeah, yeah I'm okay." Sundra turned her head to see how in the world Greenscale caught her, and when she saw... she suddenly wished she didn't know. She grimaced inwardly, since Sundra figured that she couldn't be too picky about how her comrade saved her from becoming- 'Yeah Sundra, we'll just leave that part out.' Sundra sighed out and felt her stomach starting to become queasy from the thought and from dangling just meters away from the ground, even though she could fly... there had to be a good reason why she couldn't just have done that instead of free falling. But she trusted Green Arrow's plan. "Okay... pull me up. Let's get this mission started." Then as an afterthought, "Quick thinking, Greenscale. Thanks for catching me."

 

Greenscale snapped his head back, pulling Sundra up quickly and retracting his tongue. He grabbed her with his right hand, now holding both Super Sonic Boy and Sundra in one hand. Super strong arms were handy, but only one made it awkward. "Sorry about that," he said as if it was no big deal. "Come on, let's hurry," he stood up straight...meaning he was sideways, parallel to the ground, with his comrades handing from one arm. He walked quickly to the nearest window and peeked inside. "Nobody's in here...Sundra, can you melt a small circle in the glass? Once we do that, we could simply unlock it and open it," he suggested. His initial plan was to smash the window or melt the whole thing, but he didn't want to make any noise at this point. The stealth part of the mission began and it all focused on him.



Icicle was humming to himself as he made several turns along the hallway before finally stopping in front of a door. It was a large door and Icicle couldn't help but wonder if they were expecting a giant. "Open up! I got the blonde!" He yelled as he knocked on the door. Two beeps later, the door slid open, splitting half down the middle. It was large dark circular room. However, the opposite side was flat, not round. That one flat wall had a long window stretched across it near the top. To high for someone who couldn't fly to reach; Icicle whistled, something he always did when he walked into this room. The area behind the window was dark, but a small amount of flashing lights could be seen. The room wasn't completely dark, though, nor was it quiet. In the center of the room, Kid Devil was on the floor roaring with pain with steam coming from his body as a constant shock of electricity surged through his body.

 

Terra squirmed inside the block of ice -- a futile attempt to get free. The injustice done to Kid Devil infuriated her. "Let me go!" She yelled; the thin ice over her mouth metled from Kid Devil's heat. She and Kid Devil weren't exactly close buddies like she and Starfire were, in fact she hadn't really known him that long at all, but he was still part of the team. Terra wanted nothing more than to land a good punch in Icicle's face. Maybe exposed to Kid Devil's heat close or long enough, the ice around the rest of her would melt. "I said put me down!!" There had to be something she could to do stop Kid Devil's pain, anything.

 

The young heroine kept her cool as she was brought up and then was caught by Greenscale again, this time not being suspended in midair. Hearing what Greenscale asked her to do, Sundra nodded her head and then examined the window from where she was since Greenscale still had a hold on her. "Hm..." Finding the place where the lock was, Sundra pressed her hand against the cool glass. In a matter of seconds, a glow appeared around the shape of her hand as her powers were activated. Her hand started to press through the melting glass, but she was being careful not to rush it so she didn't shatter the glass and make any noise. Suddenly, her hand got through and she almost lost her balance in Greenscale's arm. The glass was still glowing, smoldering as it started to cool from the intense heat it had to undergo. Sundra kept her hand through the hole and felt around for the lock. Finding it, Sundra smirked and then turned it until it unlocked. "Okay, we're ready to go," she said as she pulled her hand back through the hole.

 

Elena always did love the way clouds felt. They were cold and wet, yet still had a charm to them. Who knew the simple combination of air and water could create such lovely, mystifying things? Elena floated cross-legged over the clouds, like she was sitting on a magic carpet, watching the world do its business below her. Today was quiet day for her. She hoped it would stay that way. One day without crime or danger, was that too much to ask? A kind, sad smile rose to her lips as she thought of her brother telling her "crime never sleeps." She knew where she was, whose head-quarters was in this city. Being here, the least she could do was get Batman's autograph for her brother -- Elijah idolized the hero. Now that Elena thought about it... "Batman has no powers, just like Elijah, and yet he still fights for justice. That's why Elijah likes him so much. Does he... Is he living through me and my powers?" She lay down as if there were solid ground beneath her and not air. "Huh...."

 

Kid Devil writhed in pain. The amount of electricity surging through his body was so intense, he couldn't think straight. He was on his back, writhing, with his hands seemingly handcuffed, as well as his legs. He was roaring, a demonic roar that would give a child nightmares. His yellow eyes were glowing with such intensity, it was a wonder that they weren't lighting up the entire room. His body was smoking and his skin was burning hotter than ever, a reflection of his torment. The last time he was tortured like this, his mind regressed into a demonic state, letting the demon in control of his soul take control. The others didn't know about this, as he convinced the League it was a side-effect of his "mutation." He didn't even realize Terra was now next to him, but his heat was melting the ice around her nonetheless.




Icicle grinned and replied, "Alright!" as enthusiastically as he could as his left hand reached out and blasted the floor. He created a line of ice that stopped short of Kid Devil. The end started melting quickly from Kid Devil's intense heat as the young mutated hero roared in pain. Icicle dropped the frozen Terra onto the ice and kicked her, sending her slide towards her teammate.


Greenscale waited for Sundra to open the window and help her and Super Sonic Boy through it. He followed them before turning around and closing/relocking the window. He knew if someone walked in, they would see the window closed so he fixed it, hoping that, at first glance, no one would notice the missing circle. "Alright, stay touching me at all times," he said as he grabbed Sundra with his normal hand and Sonic Boy with his mutated one. His body tingled slightly as his skin changed colors, matching the wall behind him, then his clothes followed suit, and then his camouflage increased, making him completely invisible. As long as the other two were touching him, no one could see the trio. He walked forward and slowly opened the door, hoping to dear god no one was on the outside.



Green Lantern was sitting in the Hall of Justice. He was in the briefing room, the only area cut off from the public. Directly in front of him was a huge computer screen. Behind him, in the center of the room, a circular table. To his left, a door that led to the teleportation room. He knew Red Tornado was around somewhere, as well as Zatara, but he was too busy focusing on the screen. "Aw, not again!" He groaned as a window popped on the screen, informing him that there were no more moves in his game of Solitaire.

 

The ice around Terra melted faster than snow in July as she slid towards Kid Devil. She skid to a stop just short of Kid Devil's burning skin, luckily for her own. Her body temperature rose quickly from freezing from the ice to feverish from Kid Devil's heat. She rolled away from him, as much as she wanted to help, still bound by the constraints on her arms and legs. She huffed out a breath of air.
"Stop it!" Terra whirled to lock eyes with Icicle. "You can't do this to him!"

"Stop! Thief!"

The cry from below caught Elena's attention. A jewelry store's blaring alarm assaulted her ears. So much for her peaceful day. "What idiot robs a store in D.C.?" Elena shook her head. Smiling, she let herself free-fall for a moment before using her control over the air to direct her path towards the man leaving the store with a sack in hand. "He's not even original." Elena commented on the man's ski mask and brown sack that was obviously holding the stolen merchandise. She slowed her fall so that she landed silently in front of the man. He'd been looking back and bumped into Elena at the speed of his run.
Elena raised her arms, pinning the man to the ground with a wall of air; a simple trick she used often. "So, what's your excuse?" The man just looked at her confused. He tried to move but Elena's air pressure kept him pinned down. Her jet black hair tumbled over her shoulders when she lowered her head to look at the man.

 

Sundra kept quiet as she walked along side Greenscale, looking this way and that to try to find any clues to where the others could be. She wasn't surprised that they were "invisible" because she'd seen it done before when she passed by the training room. Focusing back on the situation, Sundra kept alert as they walked. 'If I wanted to keep heroes locked up, where would I look?' A sound wave reached her ears, but it was barely heard. She did hear the frequency change for a bit, like someone kind of noise was coming from somewhere. She just couldn't pinpoint it. "Where should we look first...?" Sundra asked in a low whisper, making sure no one was around first.

 

Icicle didn't say anything as he stepped backwards and the door closed, cutting him off from Terra and Kid Devil. With that done, he turned around and started walking down the hall, "Now for the others~" he said gleefully as he started walking towards Beast Boy's room.


Kid Devil roared in pain for only a few more seconds before a click made the electricity stopped. He was on all fours, panting for air, before he finally stood up. A constant growl was escaping his throat and his eyes were still glowing. His body was smoking from its intense temperature. He flexed his claws, arched his back, and gave one final demonic roar. And after that...he laid his eyes on Terra. There was barely a trace of humanity left in his mind. He raised a hand rather slowly, only to swipe at Terra with his claws.



Greenscale thought for a second, only to look at the floor. "I say we go...down!" He said the word rather loudly, not thinking, and the sound of footsteps made him realize his mistake. "Quick, against the wall," he said quietly and rushed as he moved towards the wall, careful not to lose his hold on the other two. He was still invisible, but being against the wall made him feel like he was even less visible. Moments later, two older men in white lab coats turned the corner, looking down the hallway. After a second, one of them shrugged and they left. "Hey...let's follow them," Greenscale suggested.



Green Lantern looked at the small window that popped up onto the screen. It was telling him an alarm was triggered. Half a second later, a female robotic voice rang through the Hall.
"Attention, Justice League, a store was robbed five minutes ago. The suspect is running south."
It then told the League the address. The alarm was the one that went off for small matters, but Lantern was bored. The police could handle it, but he needed something to do.
"I got this!" He yelled as he stood up. His body started to glow green before he took off into the air, his right fist showing the ring on his finger as he flew out the door. When he exited the Hall, he was almost blinded by the flash of cameras. "No need to fear, the Greenest of Lanterns is here!" He said comically as he flew towards the street the alarm had given him. He left a small trace of green in the air as he left, but it faded quickly. It wasn't long before he saw the criminal...who was subdued by a young girl in a costume. "Well, that's embarrassing," he joked as he pointed his fist down. A line of green appeared from his ring, taking the form of a pencil sketch for a moment, before turning into a solid green stream. It hit the criminal and he was bound in a green ball. Two seconds later, Green Lantern fell from the sky. "Thanks, young heroine," he said, emphasizing the last word. "I don't recognize you. Are you from the academy?"

 

Terra rolled quickly away from Kid Devil's dangerous slash. She desperately wished that her shackles were off. "What are you doing?!" Terra was already sweating from the heat Kid Devil was exerting. A few more minutes in this confined space with him and Terra's body would overheat.

Elena lowered her arms and tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. Her electrically blue eyes lost their gleam of confidence, showing fear now instead. It was one thing to stop a crook, another thing to just whisk by for an autograph for her brother, and a whole other thing to explain herself to a member of the Justice League. People were beginning to watch too. "Just passing through." She'd meant the reply to infer the plan of an experienced nomad but it came out as the excuse of a clueless wanderer. Like the other few times she'd been confronted, she didn't volunteer a name for herself.

 

Seeing the scientist heading down the corridor and out of their sight, Sundra nodded her head only to remember that Greenscale couldn't see her. "Yeah, good plan," Sundra whispered quickly to Greenscale. "Let's get a move on before they get away from us."

Icicle knocked on a door. He wasn't sure if Beast Boy could hear the actual knock, but maybe the echo would reach him. The young green hero had the biggest containment room out of all of them, allowing him to turn into a whale if he so wished. The door slid open and Icicle thought Beast Boy had opened it before realizing someone from the control room had opened it for him. "Heeelloooooooo!" Icicle said as he peeked his head in with his hands cupped by his mouth. The echo rang for a few seconds and then the room lit up. Icicle looked down to realize there was no floor. Instead, the door was near the top of the wall. The floor must have been 50 yards below him. It was almost as big as a football field. Of course, the room wasn't made for containing shapeshifting heroes, but...other things. Oh well, he had a job to do. Icicle put aimed his hands in front of him and made a ramp of ice, sliding down towards Beast Boy a la Iceman. He reached the bottom, but made sure he was on the other side of the room, where Beast Boy's largest animal couldn't reach him. "Well if it isn't my favorite monkey!" Icicle asked, his voice echoing around him as he jumped off the ramp. He waved his left hand, hoping the former Teen Titan would wave back.



A growl escaped Kid Devil's fanged mouths as he approached Terra slowly. He flexed his claws and his eyes seemed to glow brighter for a second. He could hear her, but her words made no sense. It was just a buzzing dialogue. He could see her, but not details, just an outline of a friend. He arched his head back and then launched a ball of fire at her from his lips. His ears perked as he heard laughter up above.



Greenscale followed the scientists, but he couldn't help but think of other less important things. For example, if he were to pull the pants down of one of the scientists, would that scientist attack the other? The thought made him smile. He looked down for a moment, seeing his body. It appeared clear, but he could make out his legs and torso. His body seemed to be made of hollow and green-tinted glass, as it always did when he was invisible. Next to him, Sonic Boy's and Sundra's body were the same, although they weren't green. "Whoa, stop," he said quickly and quietly when the scientists ahead of them stopped walking. The taller one looked around and then placed his hand on the empty wall next to him. What's he doing? There's no door or anythin- Greenscale realized when the spot on the wall (where the scientist had placed his hand) started to sink in and blink yellow. Moments later, a whirring sound hummed quietly and a vertical line appeared in the wall. The wall then slid open, revealing a hidden elevator. The scientists looked around once more and then walked in, the door closing behind them. "Did you see that?"


Green Lantern placed his hands on his hips. A green line stretched from his finger to the criminal near him, who was still encased in a green ball. "Just passing through?" He eyed the girl carefully until police sirens brought him back to his senses. After a moment, a cop car approached him and two officers stepped out. "He's all yours!" Lantern said gleefully as he waved his fist forward, sending the criminal towards the officers. The ball of green light disappeared, leaving the criminal between the cops, who proceeded to arrest him. Turning his attention back to the young heroine, he outstretched his right hand. "Thanks for you help," he said as he waited for her to shake his hand.

"Yeah, I see it," Sundra whispered, watching the elevator close. "Should we jump in after them? Or will it be too late now?" Jumping in after them could make noise, which would make the scientists suspicious, which would probably raise an alarm, which probably meant they would be in trouble. But if they tried to get anywhere else... could they get anywhere else later? Or was this their chance now. 'Choices, choices, choices... We gotta make one, and fast.' Sundra looked over to where Greenscale was, seeing the faint outline of his body. It was up to him, since if either she or Sonic Boy let go of him, they would be seen and there goes the plan of sneaking in..

 

Terra rolled away from Kid Devil again. His heat was becoming even more dangerous. She could try to move the earth around the building, but she didn't know if she was on the top floor on the lowest basement level. Without that knowledge moving earth would be seriously stupid.
"Kid Devil! Stop! It's me, Terra!" She scooted backward, bumping against a wall.

Elena cautiously shook Green Lantern's hand. He was a hero, she knew that, but it was still hard for her to trust anyone. Then, remembering her brother, she said, "Actually, I was looking for Batman. I just wanted... to ask him a favor. It would only take a minute."

His eyes were locked on the entrance the moment the echoing knock reached his pointed ears. He felt his cheek pull up in a scowl, eyebrows furrowed as he glared and almost snarled at the man in front of him as he waved. So cocky! Instinctively, he pulled and struggled against his binds, morphing back to back from and to any animal he could think of off the top of his head. He was angry, fierce, but above all—impatient.

“Where are the others?!†He shouted, his voice echoing against the walls. The room seemed to get just a bit colder at Icicle’s approach, leaving Beast Boy more alert and awake than before. He felt himself getting riled up, but simply kept his eyes on Icicle’s form, quickly going through the list of large animals in his head, thinking of a plan but finding only sheer desire to kick some ass and groaning with annoyance in himself. Come on, really?

Kid Devil made a questioning grunt as he stopped. He eyed Terra curiously, a sliver of humanity reforming in his mind. However, the beast was still in control. "Ter-," he growled again, but turned around. He arched his head back and set his eyes on the window, several yards above him. Letting out a roar, he leaped to the wall. Wings spread out from underneath his arms as his claws dug into the wall. He looked up, breathing fire to no particular target. He then threw himself off and spread his arms out, gliding over Terra, then making an upward turn. His skin continued to burn as he turned around and found himself on the glass. It was thick, too thick for his claws to go all the way through, but thick enough for them to keep him attached. He let out another growl and reared his arm back. Super strength was definitely a plus. No wall was thick enough for hi-"ARRRRGGHHHHH!" was accompanied by the sound of a click as his body writhed in pain, being electrocuted once again. Everything faded to black as Kid Devil fell towards the floor.






"Others? Oh, they're around here somewhere..." Icicle said as he looked around. "I've seem to misplaced them. Well, except for the cute blond. She's dealing with an animal right now, but I'm sure she's alright," he grinned at the last word. "Tell me, Kermit, do you know what this room is actually for? It isn't to hold unruly mutts like yourself."


Greenscale jumped forward, letting go of his teammates. Hopefully, no camera would spot them in the brief instant it took him to stick his right arm between the closing doors. Normal elevators would have stopped once they detected an arm in the way. These didn't. If Greenscale had used his left arm, it would probably have been cut off. "Stupid doors," he muttered as he pushed them open with his fingers, then his hand and elbow, and finally opened them completely. They made a whirring sound. "Uh oh...I think I broke it," he said, apologetically. "We should hurry and go, before someone notices," he said as he jumped into the shaft. He stuck the opposite wall and waited for the others. "So...what floor?" he asked jokingly.



Green Lantern wondered why the girl seemed so cautious towards him. The League were celebrities, but he was the newest member, having replaced the original Green Lantern after an...incident. In fact, Kyle Rayner didn't appear to be a Green Lantern. He was wearing a black and white outfit, with green gauntlets and a green metal mask in place of the traditional Lantern uniform. Either way, he was caught off guard by the girl's response. "Batman?" Rayner knew Batman was currently with Green Arrow on a mission, but the two had kept the details secret, telling the League to wait for their signal. "He's not in town right now, but...maybe you'd like to wait for him?" He wasn't sure why he asked that. It could have been his boredom, the lack of company in the Hall of Justice, or maybe the fact that not many people asked for Batman specifically, especially young heroines. This had to be something important. He withdrew his hand his ring glowed before his entire body became encased in green light. "You can fly, right?" He asked. With so many metahumans these days, flight was turning into a default ability.

 

Terra cringed from the heat; she was starting to feel dizzy. She watched as Kid Devil fell to the floor. Her sky-blue eyes stayed locked on him, wondering if she should crawl over to him and check if he was okay or not. She waited a moment, watching for movement. She then looked down at her shackles. They seemed worse for wear from the heat; they must not have been made to withstand heat like that since she didn't have any heat powers herself. Terra strained against the shackles to see if they would break, but they still held steady. She exhaled, frustrated, and returned her sight back to Kid Devil.
"Hey. Hey! Get up!" Getting no response, Terra awkwardly made her way over to Kid Devil. She sat near him, using her foot to prod him since her hands and arms were still bound. "Are you okay?"

Elena's paranoia nearly got the best of her, but she reminded herself that Green Lantern was a hero and would [hopefully] never pull any kind of trickery. She nodded, "Yeah, I can fly." Her responses were brief, and she hoped to avoid any further questions. She just wanted to get Batman's autograph for Elijah and hurry out of the city. Placing her hands by her sides, she focused on the air around her body, created a current of wind, and floated off the sidewalk.

 

OOC: how about a week and a half after that?
So uh...I have a question: If I wrote a long history-like thing to tie all the inspirations from this (smallville, young justice, teen titans) and some original content to make a brief history for this (like ten pages on Word) would anybody read it? lol

Kid Devil cracked open an eye and stared at Terra. Many thoughts were running through his head, each accompanied with several questions, but the loudest question was: How did Terra get here? He felt his body cooling down, as the heat left alongside the consciousness. While he was still too hot to hold, the heat was tolerable. He snickered at her question and replied, "No," before his head fell back and he passed out.




Green Lantern smiled and waved a hand at the policemen behind him. "Well, then, I guess I should follow," he told himself as his clenched his fist. His body had been glowing green and was now hovering over the sidewalk. "Do you know where the Hall is?" He asked. He planned to lead the girl there, instead of following, regardless of her answer, but he felt it was polite to ask.




The intercom in Red X's room turned on, the only signal being a distinct beeeep. "Who are you?" Asked a deep voice, with the slightest tone of apathy behind it.
