Swap Magic is so 2006 and harmful to your console. ESR is where it's at bro.

 

What, pray tell, is ESR? I've been trying to find a way to play import stuff without the risk of ruining my console I've had for so long. ;~;

 

ESR is the thing where you patch you iso then you burn it. IF you the ESR program on your PS2 it can play the game without any disc swap

Never even heard of that before. I've had my PS2 modified since 2007 and it still works perfectly. Didn't know it was harmful though, guess I'm just lucky.

Huh, I might try that if I ever need to, but Swap Magic has worked perfectly for every imported PS2 game I have so it's all good for me.

Swap Magic was the main way to do it long ago apparently, guess I'm old fashioned and slow when it comes to the times. But depending on your PS2 model it depends if you have to open up the console or not. I have a Slim PS2 so I had to replace the top cover with a flip top cover.

 

I agree with gledson regarding OPL. I have that set up on my PS2 as well and its pretty amazing. It's essentially a modern version of HDLoader which I purchased years ago (which was dumb of me because a more updated version of it is freely available on the net). OPL combined with Free McBoot is probably the best softmod on the ps2. Anyway I know this is a bit off topic so lets drop it for now.

It won't let me replace the Menu Folder I patch the other stuff . Should I redo it and patch the menu folder first ? It's gumming me error,but I am going to bed . It's 1:33AM here in New York . So night guys !

 

You don't replace an entire folder, you have to do it one file at a time.
So for example when you are using IMGreplace in the command prompt it will ask you what file to replace.
For things that are in the menu folder you must type "menu/sysfont.bin" instead of just "sysfont.bin" which is probably what you are typing.

 

Where can you get this?Make things easier for me.

 

It's on the drive, I just put it in my sig. I think everyone else who's working on it should do the same or bookmark it in their browser for easy access.

my kh1 iso is stilll not in english evan through i replaced everything. this is the outcoome when i replaced the english files:

Well the font is English, but nothing it translated, have you noticed anything English? Like the journal, items, anything for example? i can tell from this that you haven't replaced SLPS_251.98 which is in the In-Progress Files folder here:

Really? I'm not sure then but your getting there! It is best if we start from the beginning.
If going to take you instructions from beginning to end:

1. Tools and Clean KH.ISO in same folder.

2. Drag KH.ISO into IMGextract.exe.

3. Wait till completed.

4. Download btltbl.bin, kanji.knj from here:

5. Download md_anthem.kmb - With fixed Ansem Journal 12(Rename this to just md_anthem.kmb), md_dic_msg.kmb, md_jiminy.kmb, md_memo_sysmsg.bin, md_syno.kmb and sysfont.bin from here:

6. Download SLPS_251.98 from here:

9. Put btltbl.bin, kanji.knj and SLPS_251.98 in export folder

10. Put the rest of the files (md_anthem.kmb, md_dic_msg.kmb, md_jiminy.kmb, md_memo_sysmsg.bin, md_syno.kmb and sysfont.bin) in the menu folder in the export folder.

11. Open up IMGreplace.exe press enter when it says to.

12. it will ask for the names of the files you want to replace so you must enter them all one at a time. If it says the file is bigger press y and enter.
To make it easy i will list what you must type here:

First type in these one at a time:
btltbl.bin (press enter, if bigger press y and enter)
kanji.knj (press enter, if bigger press y and enter)
SLPS_251.98 (press enter, if bigger press y and enter)

Then for menu files type in these remember one at a time:
menu/md_anthem.kmb (press enter, if bigger press y and enter)
menu/md_dic_msg.kmb (press enter, if bigger press y and enter)
menu/md_jiminy.kmb (press enter, if bigger press y and enter)
menu/md_memo_sysmsg.bin (press enter, if bigger press y and enter)
menu/md_syno.kmb (press enter, if bigger press y and enter)
menu/sysfont.bin (press enter, if bigger press y and enter)

13. Finally press enter twice to exit the program.

14. Test and reply.

EDIT : Remember the updated SLPS_251.98 has not been uploaded so the menu ( items, abilities etc. ) will not be translated. If items, descriptions of items, command menu and journal are English you have done it right (Again look at everything to make sure).
EDIT 2 : I Tested myself and it works if it doesn't work for you i honestly have no idea how to help.

 

Not at all. I have been using it for years and had no problems with my fat PS2.
