Video Game: Kingdom Hearts SOS: The Road To Light

Once again Mim was hellbent on hurting all of the cept Ananta, granted she did still get hit this time around. This really would've been a good time to know some more magic, but since he didn't he was going to have to do this the old fashion way. "Let's see what happens when I punch a dragon." With that he ran towards the dragon and attacked.

 

Kaida was trying her best to keep up with Glen, who seemed to be running incredibly fast considering. She was wondering what was wrong with him. Even if he was a caring and considerate person usually she didn't see people this determined unless they had some personal connection with something. She knew she didn't have the time to ask either way.

They finally made it to the tunnel and Kaida kept checking back to make sure everyone was still keeping up. She then looked over at Glen and yelled, "Are you alright up there!?"

 

Glen continued running, not slowing down for a second. From the echoes of the tunnel, he faintly heard Kaida calling out. "I'll be fine once the coward is dead!" he called back. There was no way he was going to stop or slow down, no way he would forgive Vanitas. A much darker side of Glen was being shown, but he didn't care. All he cared about and all he wanted, was the death of Vanitas. Nothing else mattered, at that point.

 

This fight was drawing to a close. Mim had transformed into a dragon, but Beuce didn't seem the least bit worried. Not with stratos at his back. See, those mines hadn't been for the damage. They were for what was about to come. Beuce had been going all Maevis on everything this whole fight and strategically planning out the course of events, and directing his allied. What he did now was irrelevant. Once stratos made his move, it was over. So, may as well look as flashy as he could before it ended, right? "Darkness!" He called out. The darkness in his heart welled up and gave him a slightl purple and aura as the darkness gathered around his right fist. Small bubbles of the same hue floated off of it occasionally and faded away. symbolizing the poisonous nature of this attack. With a jump and an overhanded swipe, Beuce clawed downward at the Dragon's face, leaving four dark gashes in the air momentarily where his fingers had been.

 

Alright, here it was. Everything had lead up to this one moment. With Stratos's mines building up his true power, that last set of explosions had done there job. And thanks to the Aero spell Ana had cast on him, he was no one near close to dying. As Mim unleashed her final form, Stratos had gotten ready to preform his final trick. It was true, he had done this already once in the battle before, but that attack didn't do nearly as much damage as it was meant to. And so Stratos had to make the full power version look all that much better. Clutching his chest it seemed to emanate a different kind of power this time. When he took his hand off, it now was coated in a mixture of black and white flames dancing in perfect synchronization. Pointing his fingers out, Stratos started to trace the circle as he had done before. "You who would desecrate the land of the golden sword, in my advent, I, the keyblade wielder, lay waste with the Unbound, and expel thy vast defilement!" With the chant and circle completed, the circle of flames started to fill in with the two different colored flames collapsing in on each other. Once the orb of shadowy light flames was complete, Stratos slashed his fingers through it, causing the flame orb to disperse. Throwing his hand into the air, the flames then gathered and Stratos pressed his hand against it. With some weird green light trails that seemed to be coming from his eyes, Stratos ran forward until he high jumped and shouted and spiked the orb at the dragon. The orb had exploded, erupting into a beautiful amalgamation of white and black flames constantly collapsing in on itself only to explode outward again. This was the beautiful cataclysm that was Trip Around the Sun.

 

Etrius was in shock at Vanitas' appearance, and remained so moreover as Glen took off from the boat after Vanitas disappeared. He was a blank for a whole minute. Vanitas? Here? Etrius' senses resharpened in time to Kaida calling to Glen, "Are you alright up there!?"
Glen's reply came from far off, "I'll be fine once the coward is dead!"

Dead.

The word sparked in Etrius, causing him to snap out of his trance, and his face converted to fury. Dark smoke began to curl off his shoulders. His drained to a blood red color, and he let out a hard snarl, launching off the boat and tearing past the girls. Though Glen was far ahead, Etrius would catch up. As Etrius ran, memories began to flood back. His life back home, it's destruction, and the murder of his parents. Though it pained him to think about it, the pain only made Etrius' rage all the more worse. He had began to move on all fours, and the blueish tint to his skin was becoming black, his eyes turning more luminous by the minute.
He neared the cave, ready to go awol.

 

Kaida was finally coming to a realization that the two boys were not stable. Well, it was obvious, as the two were both throwing signs out that they wanted somebody dead. She just was not catching on. Kaida was trying to stick with Rapunzel and Maximus to make sure Rapunzel was being protected. That was her job, but she was concerned for Glen and Etrius' well being.

Kaida quickly looked over at Cat and spoke, "Are those two going to be alright? They are your partners after all and I have no idea if this... darkness and determination is normal but if they come anywhere close to hurting the pri-" Kaida froze and quickly found a way to change it up, "Hurting the people, the normal people around here, I will not be happy."

 

Eon had grown curious to the area around him. He estimated it would be a while before Gaston and his men arrived. He went to go and walk around the moat to see if he could find anything interesting. He liked to collect items from the worlds he had visited. Previously, he took Kronk's goggles which he his still wearing on his head, before that was Ratigan's little bell. It made a nice chiming noise whenever he rang it. It was soothing almost.

Along his route, he stumbled upon a mirror. It seemed to have been tossed out of a window or something. Amazingly enough it wasn't broken. He decided since it was out here, no one apparently wanted it. Eon looked into the reflection. Something strange was happening however... instead of his image, he saw some of the other keyblade wielders fighting a witch... with no keyblades.... why? There was Beuce and Ananta, Kel and Stratos. Eon however only knew the first couple. "I guess while I wait for Gaston, I'll just watch these guys fight... I wonder why they aren't using keyblades..."

 

"Eon, what do you have there?" Base's voice came from behind the distracted young man with legitimate curiosity in what the boy was doing. Base could not see the reflection in the mirror, but noticed the handle in Eon's grip. The mirror's magical properties were made clear to the musical Keyblader, so the notion of what Eon could be looking at was not entirely obvious. "I'm ready to head out. How about you?" He figured he'd let this one go. He didn't want to pry into what Eon could be wishing to see.

Mim screamed as she was launched back by Stratos' final blow. She landed against a tree and looked up to see the sun had come out. "No! Not sunshine! I hate sunshine! I hate horrible, wholesome sunshine!" she started to throw a fit, changing back into her normal, old self. Grabbing and pulling her hair, she kicked her feet. "I hate sunshine! I HAAATE sunshine!" she repeated, covering her face with her hair. "I hate it! I hate it! I hate, hate, hate, HAAATE...!" could be heard from Mim in the distance. Back at the group, Goofy chuckled and turned to look at the group. "Gawrsh, you guys sure are powerful!" he commented, nodding at all of them. Ananta placed her hands on her hips, throwing her stick away. "Well thanks, Goofy, you weren't so bad yourself!" she complimented him. "Gawrsh..." Goofy said, a little embarrassed. "Ya really think so?" he smiled. "You're going to make a fine knight some day. Right guys?" Ananta asked her teammates.

 

He was aware of what was going on between Luna, Karina, Steel, Eon, and Base. Both Base and Eon were talking, getting to know one another, while Luna had spoken a few words of good will to Karina, even going as far as handing her a personal good luck charm. D'daear hid his smile. "Awesome. Glad to see they're getting along." he thought, thinking back on when Luna had instigated a fight with Karina outside the castle. It was a random occurrence indeed, but at this point it was now meaningless. Water under the bridge, as some would say. His irises turned towards both Eon and Base, whom were exchanging words amongst themselves. Watching his mentor, he decided it'd be best to get to know his new comrade whom he'd be escorting Belle alongside with. Feeling the enthusiasm in Kross's voice, D'daear nodded. "Yeah! We should get going now." he advised, supporting Kross's gesture. "By the way, I'm D'daear. You're Kross...right?" he inquired, his whole body turned to the mentioned person.

 

Steel nodded to Luna, and with a turned back and a simple wave of his metallic gauntlet, he and the others made their way up the stairs. Before he began he noticed Eon pick up a magic mirror that seemed to have been deposited quite randomly. It was showing a scene it shouldn't have necessarily been showing. He decided that if the source was what he thought it was, he'd have to ask about that later. Steel had only sensed him a few moments ago. His thoughts were interrupted as Belle passed him and he realized he was going quite slowly. Though he wasn't quite the slowest.

 

After what seemed like a ridiculous amount of time, they made it to the end of the cave where the trap door was. They jumped through the trap door and the thugs seemed to give her a look before Kaida waved and then helped Rapunzel get through the door. The thugs seemed happy to see her and their seemingly scary demeanor quickly changed. Rapunzel was not happy in return, which was obvious seeing her mother was kidnapped.

...Wait... her mother... wait...

By the time Kaida was finally putting two and two together, the thugs were asking Rapunzel what was wrong. Kaida didn't hear what Rapunzel said, she instead looked out the window to try and see if she could see the tower. When she turned around it seemed both of them had the same question on the mind, "Can you see a tower from here?"

 

He continued to watch the battle between the dragon and the other keyblade wielders. He came in late and witnessed its defeat. With that, he gave a smile and stored the mirror away in a safe place. He nodded towards Base and headed off with him. The men were going to be here soon. The fight was coming.

 

After Stratos had done his overly cinematic yet totally necessary version of Trip Around the Sun, he was quite relieved to see that the fight was over. Boy was that a difficult yet rather short fight. He wondered if all of the fights like this would go like that. Probably not. It was then that Ana mentioned how Goofy would be a fine knight, only for Goofy to get totally bashful one them. "Ana's right Goofy. You were pretty awesome during that fight. Taking a ton of hits head on, taking a charge from a rhino head on and standing like it did nothing, and then healing everyone when we most needed it. If I could, I'd knight you myself right here and now." It was then that Stratos remembered how the fight had gotten started in the first place. "But all rightfully placed praise aside, we should probably hurry back to town, seeing as that masked lady was probably using all of this as just a distraction."

 

Base paced by the door. Unfortunately, this proved to be the absolute worst place to pace as the heavy wooden doors burst open all at once, casting Base to the stone floor. He looked up to see a floating phantasm; a black orb, with wiry horns, that was wrapped in chains. It's jagged jaws clattered as it bounced in its flight and took off around the grand entrance hall. It menaced Eon and D'daear before whisking away into the upstairs ballroom.

Base rose to his feet, looking out the door to see the mob with their pitchforks, farm equipment, and torches. None of them looked particularly happy, particularly not the menacing tall, buff man riding on a demonic steed... Base stopped at noticing the horse. That horse looked...familiar... But as he pondered, the mob suddenly became less of a threat as one tremendous machine, a truly Infernal Engine, rolled into sight and crashed through the gate. It could only be a Heartless following behind the man on the horse and the mob.

"We can't let that thing reach the castle! C'mon!" Base shouted to the others. "Somebody's going to have to go after the Heartless, and the mob will need to be held at bay as well." Base gritted his teeth, letting his magical powers blossom internally. "To arms!" Base dashed outside ahead of the group. He knew who would follow, and he knew they would because of who they were.

Meanwhile, Beast led the charge into the Ballroom only to find it... empty?

"I saw it come in here..." Beast grunted. He did not notice the floating ball drift down behind him to knock him over before it dived into the middle of the ballroom floor and change the whole setting to a darker version of what it was before. When the Dark Stalker revealed itself again, it twisted and shook until a black cocoon of darkness wrapped it entirely. When the darkness faded away, the chains were gone and the Heartless was much more ferocious, having been unleashed as the Dark Thorn. The Beast returned to his feet and roared. The battle was on.

Kaida followed the thugs outside, who seemed to go in that direction anyway. They were all helping them on their mission to see where the tower was. They seemed to all mash together to think of some sort of plan. Someone offset a cart and the thug with the hook grabbed Kaida and moved her on top of the cart and spoke, "Head down." Kaida raised an eyebrow before he repeated, "Head down."

Kaida rolled her eyes and did as she was told and spoke, "Head down."
"Arms in."
"Arms in."
"Don't shift too much."
"Wait what wh-?"

Immediately as she asked that one of the thugs jumped from the roof and landed on the other part of the cart and shot Kaida up in the air, she responded with a scream as she went high enough in the air to see the tower. She tried to scan the area to see if something was off. She probably didn't go high enough, but at least she knew the direction of the tower.

When she landed on the ground back in the spot she went flying, she continued to stand there frozen in fear. Rapunzel asked her if she was alright and Kaida shakily pointed her finger in the direction she saw the tower and spoke. "T-t-that way."

Kaida gathered the group back together and thanked the thugs for all their help and went to leave before she heard someone shout, "Wait!"

Kaida turned around to see the thug named Tor, the one that wanted to be a florist? She wasn't sure until he spoke, "As one florist to another Lauriam gave me this, but... you guys are just so swell. I want you to have them!"

Kaida accepted the man's gift and smiled, "Thank you so much again!" Kaida waved once more before turning around and continuing on, "Alright let's go!"

It was so abrupt, so sudden that D'daear only had enough time to flinch at the monstrous form that passed over his group. A loud thud emanated from behind him while he had his eyes shut and arms in front in a warding gesture. When he came to it, the doors in front of him were wide open with Base knocked down. "Base!" he shouted, wide eyes fixated on his form for a brief second before being drawn to the incoming party just outside the castle. Even from the stairs D'daear could make out the large contraption that had rammed through the castle gates. It was ridiculous. A mob lit the area as the approached just behind a man on his steed. It didn't take a genius to realize that was probably Gaston.

"To Arms!" shouted Base as he charged to the front of the battle. His instinct drew him to run towards his mentor, but logic held him back as he knew Belle and Beast needed him, as well as his group. He gritted his teeth at the tug of war that went on in his mind. The mob, Gaston, and the machine...it looked like a lot for them to handle. In end, however, he trusted they could all handle the endeavor. Trying to put his mind at ease, he turned to the group that had now gone off ahead of him towards the ballroom. His eyebrows furrowed in frustration, letting out a groan of displeasure towards the situation as he turned and ran towards the ballroom. He ran past the doors and stopped just behind the group while Beast made his comment. The room was indeed empty, with a grand dance floor and columns lined up by the walls which held up some form of indoor balcony. The dark form soon emerged from nowhere and formed into a creature like none he'd ever seen. Immediately the Kingdom Key keyblade formed itself in his hand. Amazingly enough he didn't even have to put forth much effort like he used to.

"Practice..." was all he uttered as he got into his battle stance whilst glaring at the creature that was now daring to disturb Belle's and Beast's happy reunion. The Beast let out a reverberating roar that echoed in the room. It was a call to arms.

 

Cat hadn't been paying attention to specifics. She was too focused on finishing this. The thought of taking someone's mother just to use them... it made her sick. They ran through the tunnel, and Glen and Etrius were busy being their usual hardheaded selves. She lagged behind them, but kept just about even with Kaida. As they climbed back into the Snuggly Duckling, she remembered that they couldn't spot the tower from where they were. Luckily, Kaida pointed it out and next thing she knew the girl was being catapulted into the air and they were being given a gift. She thanked the man and immediately went in Kaida's direction. "You know, I think Rapunzel should stay back there. As much as she might resist, I don't want her getting caught up in all this. Better safe than sorry, right?"

 

Glen had stopped momentarily whilst Kaida attempted to find the tower. He had not lost any drive for violence towards Vanitas, but he wasn't sure of the way back, and despite all his urges telling him to just run ahead, that he'd find his way back somehow, he knew it was better to know the way beforehand, so he instead stayed silent and waited.
