Corinth - Outer City Gate​

[Chapter 1]​

Traveling along the roadside, you reach your old hometown in the kingdom of Celeste. This city by the name of Corinth, is the capital of the Medieval Nation. It was here where your father first taught you to wield a sword, but it was also the place he died. It brings back many sad childhood memories, but not without a few happy ones to rekindle your love of the old home. You breathe in the musky air and continue to enter the town, hoping that none of the townsfolk will recognize you after all these years.

A Mercenary and skilled swordsman. Long ago, his father was known far and wide as a brave and noble knight, he the kingdom had always relied on. When he died, his son, at a very tender age, left home out of grief. Since he had no mother, he left without word, leaving behind his friends and fellow citizens, in hope of a life away from home. He has now returned from his years of traveling the continent, to answer an urgent call from his royal majesty; the King of Celeste.​

[Chapter 1]​

You make his way through the town's market complex. Not a lot had changed since your last visit over 10 years ago. You are now in your young 20s, and eager to see what his majesty has in store for you. Living as a mercenary, a king would grant you a high price for such an urgent matter. But alas, this situation was different. The king of Celeste was the father of your best friend, and the best friend of your father. He was as close to an uncle as you could remember. ​

Strolling down the wave of people, a woman calls out to you.​

"Hey, you with the blue hair!" ​

You turn your head to find the young woman waving her hands at you. "Your sword's pretty bent outta shape! Wanna buy a new one?" Not the mentioned it, your sword was very rusted from your previous encounters. But this was your fallen father's sword. No amount of money could replace a sentimental thing like that. ​

You walk over to the merchant to see if she can at least fix it for you. With each step closer, the woman seems rather short, and couldn't be older than her late teens.​

A Weapons Merchant in Corinth. A young woman who works at her father's shop, but is more than capable of running it without him. She is well verse on 2 things; Weaponry and politics. Intelligent and bright, her main peeve is any lack of faith in her abilities as a woman.​

The young woman introduces herself as Anna and asks if you you are interested in a new sword. Appreciative but declining, you instead ask if she could repair a sword for you. You claim it has great value to you and will pay whatever the cost. Gently handing the worn out sword to the girl, you ask how much the repair will cost. Accepting the heavy blade with ease, she analyzes it with intrigue and cautiousness.​

"This thing's pretty worn out. When's the last time you got this repaired?"​

Embarrassed that you you never have, you decided to stay quiet. Over the span of 10 years, that sword has only been used for the most deadly of battles, which now that you think about it, has accumulated to a pretty big sum.​

"Well, whatever the case, renovations to this bad boy will cost an even 250 Silver."​

Your eyebrows raise in astonishment. "It's very pricey, I know. But when you look at the damage done here, it's only a few swings away from breaking." Staring at the worn blade with a heavy heart, you cave into to the merchant's price. And so, in reaching off to the side of your belt, you open your money pouch to break out your preciously earned coin.With a quick count, you're traveling balance is 263 silver and 10 copper. Will you pay the fee?​

[Chapter 1]​

A bit stingy with your cash, you ask the maiden if she could reconsider the pricing.​

"Sorry pal, my prices are final. Take it or leave it." Hoping to negotiate once more you try and see if you can bring the price down to 200 silver. She insists that she won't budge her prices down for you. Normally you'd pay for it after the second no, but she looked to be a reasonable young lady. Attempting to do so one more time, you explain why you need the price to be dropped and see if she will change her mind. "Oh, I see..." You sigh and smile with relief. you have finally gotten through to her.​

"You think you can just walk into town, find a naive saleswoman and get a cheap bargain? That's just pathetic." Your smile fades, realizing she was not headed in the mindset you were hoping for. "Depending on what you say next, I can either break this sword or fix it." She holds in front of you, a strong and powerful hammer over your father's blade. You can't help but notice that people have already started to stare into your direction. You were attracting more attention then you wanted to...​

Mentally defeated you poor the full price from your pouch onto the table and say you'll pick it up later. You just needed to get out of there and away from the marketplace...​

You now have time to spend until your sword is prepared. You figure you should visit his majesty to find out what needs to be done, but at the same time, part of you wants to see what became of your old home. There was a childhood friend at each destination that you both owed an explanation to.​

[Chapter 1]​

Duty before all else. You miss your home, but you want to see what's changed in the kingdom or Corinth. From the outside, everything seems the same. The castle walls must be 50 feet high,and as per usual, guards surrounding every gate. King Lucas was always protective of his sons, which you would always play with whenever your father was away. Too much remembering though. Back to that mission you got so easily sidetracked from.​

At the castle gates, two Celestian knights halt you from proceeding. Both cross their swords in cross formation, forbidding you from passage.​

"State your business," one of the knights proclaim.​

"I come at the King's request," you reply.
"I see," one of the knights replied. "Please reveal the King's seal, identifying your clearance."
Whenever a letter from his majesty was sent out, a seal was imprinted in blue wax. The very same on your given letter. You reach to your side to take out the letter was sent to you. Whatever he summoned for you for must have been very important. He was never beckoned or brought back by the king's men, which he could have clearly done. Instead, he was left to decide his own fate. Something he was always thankful for. And in return of that trust, he wanted to do what he could for his king.

You pause in horror as the once filled pocket of yours has now become empty! The letter you put int your pocket has a hole in the bottom. Such a cliche, that you're almost desperate to use it. "Umm..."
"Please present your letter or you WILL be vacated from the premises."
The security here was no joke. The guard beside him even began to turn his sword on you. You walked all this way only to be turned away now? That's right, WALKED. No sympathy transport for vagabond. Mercenaries aren't very trusted in the 3 kingdoms.

"He has access." a deep voice stated.
The guards turn to find the captain making his way to you. "His majesty's been expecting him..."
Oh, what luck! You get a break for once. In your childhood years, this man was the guardian to the prince's well being and always scolded you two whenever you got into trouble. He was tough, but when you recall the stuff you got away with, he was more than fair.

"It's good to see you again Captain;..."

Loyal Captain of the guard since before you were born. A man of middle age, he has a strong, commanding voice that has earned him respect over the years of service. (He fought in many battles, but that voice really sealed it) His life's goal is to protect his King and country, and will fight anyone who threatens to harm either. He's also a kickass babysitter.

"It's good to see you again Captain Strato."
"... to see you to." You couldn't make out that first word, but it didn't exactly sound re-assuring. "This way." He gave a nod to the knights, who lowered their blades, allowing you to pass. Captain Strato leads you down the familiar corridors of the Kingdom that acted like your second home. The very scent of the upholstery is enough to get a small smile from you.
"So what'd I miss in the last 10 years?" Strato continues to lead, ignoring your question. You two weren't always on the best of terms, but he's never ignored you.
You look down, hoping to find something he might find interesting. "So the King... healthy, I hope."
"The current king is healthy, yes..."
"Current?" Now he's peaked your interest.
"King Lucas died last winter of illness." You stop in your tracks, taking a moment to take that information in.
"If the King's dead, who summoned me? And if he died, how come no one told me! And further more-"
"You were only found recently. A vagabond is hard to track. If not for the description of your father's sword, we wouldn't have found you at all."
There it was. More guilt added on to an already painful situation. "Keep Moving," the captain commanded.
You proceed to do as such, still having questions that need answering. "How did he... pass?"
To which Strato gruffly replied; "The King fell of an unknown illness. No doctor, nor mage could identify or cleanse it. But whatever plague befell him, took over all life in his body to leave behind a hollow man. It was very grim."
You wish you could have been there for your friend. You too know the pain of losing a father, and he was there for you and supported your choice to leave the village. After all that time, you still didn't know what you wanted, and only feel regret. You suck.
"So wait... With King Lucas gone, the next in line for the throne would be..."
Captain Strato swung upon the door to the throne room and stood to the left of the door, presenting you. He knelt down on his right knee and announced; "Presenting to his majesty, the return of Angelo of Corinth."
Your eyes widen to find your childhood friend, crowned on the throne. "It's been too long." He smiled and arose from his throne to walk along his carpet and give you an embracing hug. "Much has changed... Come. We have much to discuss..."

Childhood friend, and current heir to the Celestian Throne. Like most raised in the line of royalty, he has taken much time into studying the politics, arts, and trades of his fair land. Well known among his people, he is quite dignified and has proven to be a well respected leader as his late father's absence. Very trustworthy and a real class act.​
