Oh don't worry, I am fine. Although... I technically, sorta, drowned someone. Luckily he was made out of plastic and already full of water.

Pfft, you'll see those kind of threads pop up constantly, so it doesn't matter much. Do you really need to link to a wiki? You could easily just tell what the thing is. Like the an hero: When you kill yourself, you become an hero. See? That's not that hard.

You say that Oh! Internets, Know Your Meme, etc. don't cross reference, or whatever, but you realise that ED generally just makes up a ton of bull about a subject, right? If you read about a subject on there, odds are that 95% of the information is just made to stir things up and cause "Lulz". That is why ED is so bad, most of it simply isn't true. And even if it IS true, they still exaggerate everything so much that it changes the entire meaning of things.

While Oh! Internets, which was made to be better version of ED, doesn't always have the most broad information on a subject, it is at least pretty much always the truth, and not exaggerated like ED articles are.

It is more complex than that. Killing yourself specifically to become An Hero does not make you An Hero. An Hero is someone who kills themselves and gets noticed for it by /b/. And what if I wish to give some examples of An Heroes? The Oh Internet page is incredibly lacking for this subject.

Also, half of the point is to spread the lulz. Especially with the subject that I am speaking of, I want it to be hilarious. Of course you should take everything you read with a grain of salt, but let's say that if something is readable, reasonably on topic and informative and makes me laugh, then I will link to it before any one-paragraph summary on a worthless site elsewhere. Capiche?
