The last game I played in terms of chronological release was Unleashed a few years ago and was never able to finish it, and to be honest the Sonic franchise has silently tucked itself under my radar for a few years in general. I do enjoy the concept of this, though, and I actually am not that bothered at all by the redesigns. Knuckles' bulk fits the sort of character he is. As for Sonic's legs, I am not too sure how far they are going with anatomical plausibility but I do not think his character design would effectively hinder his trademark acceleration (though whether or not it would have the same feel is up to the nature and gameplay of the game itself, and whether or not it feels just as fast-paced or is a slower one). I agree with Haya in being cautiously supportive of new things. But yes, we will see. The call of hope has been something consistently heard often through the franchise.

The thing is, Sonic isn't a real person. With a digital world you can make whatever you want happen, nothing about it is set in stone. Sonic having longer legs has no direct correlation to his stride, stopping speed, or what have you
(I'm also severely confused about what makes Knuckles more anatomically plausible)

This game can go 2 ways as i see it
    1. It could be succesful and bring SEGA back with popularity in terms of people who abandoned the franchise years ago
    OR
    2. It will cause the SEGA fans to feel like they were punched in the face and completely abandon the entire franchise all together so..

So its make or break for these guys

I just played Sonic Lost World to completion. Every. Single. Red Ring.

Why is this relevant in this thread? Well, it made me think of this game and how I'm shocked they're going to change up the gameplay style so quickly. I mean, there's a chance Sonic Team's game will keep Lost World's style while BRB does their own thing, but Lost World controlled TIGHT and showed a lot of promise. I'd much rather them try this again than fall back on their Adventure style of play. Keep trying to build instead of stick to what'll sell until it corners them.

And before anyone says "Lost World was panned. Of course they'll change up the style," I point you in the direction of Sonic Unleashed. Heck, what were Sonic 06's mach speed segments but the framework to Unleashed and Generations?

Not only that absolutely everyone is so differentiated between the character designs. I myself don't want to really...call the character designs terrible I don't know. I honestly want to go back to the sonic unleashed style of game play well maybe not the exact same but the free roaming really got me to love it. we need another console sonic game on the ps3 and xbox 360 personally that's what I think

I really have no interest in talking about the character designs. I've seen them enough that they've settled.

I wouldn't mind another Unleashed style game, but I much prefer Lost World. As for what system it's on, it don't matter to me. The only reason Lost World happened at all is because Nintendo coughed up the dough. One thing I want to come back is the freakin' hub worlds.

Yes. thats really the main reason I kept playing unleashed and replaying stages I loved some of the city's that were designed especially apotos. I wish I hadn't sold unleashed now but I remember the framrate at points becoming really slow on my ps3. Off topic a bit sorry anyways.

I most likely won't buy this I believe it's the last of the 3ds sonic games being developed because they had 3 in production first of which was colours? I can't remember but I believe boom is either the 2nd one in a trilogy of 3ds sonic games or the last then they're going back to main console source being my friend who's an immense nintendo fan but I haven't researched it myself.

It's actually a Wii U game first and the 3DS game will be a port- like Lost World. There was a deal of three for Wii U discussed during a Nintendo Direct that talked of Lost World, but that doesn't mean it's limited to three and shifting production. It's three Nintendo funded games. I'm pretty sure Sonic Boom has very little to do that with that but maybe I'm wrong.

Also, please don't say "regular consoles." The terminology you're looking for that doesn't come off as derogatory to anyone is "multiplatform."

Sega of Japan is going to be continuing the "Modern Sonic" series as they call it, Sonic Boom will be a companion series
Personally I hope they take a step AWAY from Lost World though...

My apologize. Well my friend said Lost world and Sonic boom were part of the deal. I think it's sonic boom , lost world and just one more after it which disappoints me but I really hope they begin developing a Sonic game for PS4 & Xbone after this deal is done because I've never been a big fan of the handheld sonic games mostly because Sonic Rivals and even Sonic Rush put a bad impression on me. Even the 3ds generations release was terrible compared to it's console version

As I said, Lost World and Sonic Boom are both Wii U releases. You can play them with a controller on your TV instead of a handheld

If Lost World is any indication, playing on a handheld isn't REALLY playing the game so much as struggling through it
