Nintendo Nintendo Switch (NX) Releasing March 2017

The Switch's new online service has now been detailed!

The service will have four payment plans, available to purchase on the Nintendo eShop, Nintendo's official website, and select retailers:

• 1 month - $3.99
• 3 months - $7.99
• 12 months - $19.99
• 12 month family membership (up to eight accounts) - $34.99

For your money, you get:

• Save data cloud backup
• Twenty NES titles with competitive and co-op online play added (including Balloon Fight, Donkey Kong, Dr. Mario, Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros., Soccer, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, and Tennis)
• Online play for games such as ARMS, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, etc.
• Special deals and offers

Friend management, the Nintendo eShop, screenshot sharing, system and software updates, Nintendo Switch News, and parental controls will not require the use of the paid online service.

The Nintendo Switch Online Service will launch this September.

 

Nintendo has announced a new model, the Nintendo Switch Lite. The Switch Lite forgoes dock connectivity, IR sensors, HD rumble, and detachable Joy-Cons in exchange for a smaller size, a d-pad over directional buttons, and slightly longer battery life. It can play all Switch titles, but any that do not support handheld mode will require additional Joy-Cons to play.

It will launch on September 20 in yellow, blue, and grey varieties at an MSRP of $199.99 USD, with a Zacian and Zamazenta-patterned special edition launching on November 8, a week ahead of Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Nintendo is releasing an upgraded version of the original Switch model with a 4.5 to 9 hour battery life. It retains the $300 price tag and launches in mid-August (early September for Europeans) with the standard grey and red/blue options, plus a new box design.

Additionally, Nintendo will be releasing two new Joy-Con sets on October 4—a purple and orange set, and a blue and yellow set.
