Reaper sat up, "N-no, you don't have to go." His face was unmasked and revealed a broken man, "I just...now that Garth is dead, I don't know what to do with myself."

 

Mya turned around and faced him. There are other conspirators out there Zane. They all have the same goals. She closed the door behind her and sat on the bed next to him.

 

Reaper nodded painfully, "I know...I just." He took a moment to compose himself, "Garth killed my father, he murdered my family. All I ever wanted was him dead and now...well he is and I don't feel much like the old Reaper I used to be." He lay back on the bed and touched the sword next to him covered in Garth's blood.

 

Mya looked down at the sword then back at him. I don't like "Reaper." I like Zane much more than the old Reaper. She held his arm. Don't you see? I hated your cold, dark self. I liked the one that was proud and happy.

 

Reaper scowled at the ceiling, "You know, Zane wasn't a very good person either. A little too proud for his own good and much too happy. Not to mention a more womanizer than Reaper is." He pulled on her arm, "I don't like being myself around other people. That's why I invented "Reaper"."

 

Mya tilted her head. Wouldn't you mind if I called you Zane? You trust me don't you?

 

Reaper looked up at her, "I do trust you. What I don't trust is myself. Around you I'm neither Zane nor Reaper...I don't know who I am."

 

Mya traced her finger down his arm. I don't care who you are. To my eyes, you're Zane and you will always be Zane.

 

Zane scoffed, "Right. I'm still Reaper to everyone else." He grabbed her hand and touched his lips to her palm. "You are the strangest assassin I've ever met. In all the twelve years I've been here, I'm surprised a 19 year old girl has actually managed to keep my interest for more than an hour in bed with her."

 

Mya gave him a small smile. Thanks. Not a lot of people comment me about that.

 

Zane sat up suddenly, "They'd better not be commenting about anything." He couldn't maintain his scowl at the thought of Mya shooting down other guys. He smiled, "I never would've imagined I'd be jealous..." He didn't finish his sentence and shook his head.

 

Mya smiled and scooted closer to him. I didn't think you cared about me that much.

 

Zane frowned, "Who says I do? It's all a game of cat and mouse, and you my dear are the mouse. I don't like others stalking my mouse." Zane tugged her over and onto his chest.

 

Mya closed her eyes and sighed. You really protect me that much?

 

Zane striked her back, "Well now I do, but back then I wouldn't say I cared about you so much as just wanted you." He shrugged, "What are you gonna do? I'm a guy and I was a selfish guy at that."

 

Mya opened her eyes and looked up. I don't think you're a selfish guy. If you were, you'd leave me out there to die. You saved me. That proves alone that you have a soft gentle inside. She ran her finger down Zane's chest.

 

A tremble went through Zane and he tried to keep his thoughts on something other than that she was in his bed, beside him, "Do not say that aloud. Others would jump at the chance to knock this 'soft, gentle' Zane down a few pegs."

 

Mya closed her eyes. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that out loud. It's just...I feel safe next to you.

 

Zane hugged her and pulled her onto his chest so she was laying on him, "Don't apologize so much." He couldn't help himself, "You shouldn't feel that safe next to me. You never know when I'd suddenly jump you."

 

Mya slightly blushed when he placed her on top of him. Better than the other guys that live out there. She rested her head on his chest.
