Zane didn't want to disturb her, she slept so peacefully. When a soft knock at his door interrupted his gentle thoughts. Pulling on his clothes, Zane pulled the door open wide enough to see the other assassin but not for him to see Mya, "What? This had better be good."

The other assassin was the same from last night, who'd tried to talk to him about Mya, I sure as hell hope you realize that word that you killed Garth has gotten around. The Templars are looking for you."

Zane suppressed the urge to look back at Mya, "And Mya? She was there with me."

He shook his head, "Nope, just you. Although another Templar Cusader is looking for her. You two sure do have a lot of issues." He left and Zane closed the door, leaning his head on it for a second.

 

Mya turned over in her sleep and made a purring sound, feeling happy.

 

Zane hated that he couldn't protect her as best as he wanted. He now had buisness to attend to with an old friend in Tuscany now. He thought of simply leaving her here to sleep and dream of happier days but when she woke, she'd be furious with him. Zane stroked her cheek as she slept, trying his best to wake her gently, "Mya.." he whispered in her ear.

 

Mya groaned and opened one eye. Zane? Good morning. She yawned and covered herself up with a blanket. Did you sleep well?

 

He smiled just for her and pulled more of the blanket around her, "Best night of my life. Listen, I have to go to Tuscany for a while for some buisness. I won't take long, just be aware that the Templars are looking for...well me, but Havoc has to be looking for you by now. I'd suggest staying low for a while." He kissed her and started to pull on his armor and weapons.

 

Mya stood up abruptly. Wait I can't go with you? Why? I want to be with you.

 

Zane flinched, "Somehow I knew you'd say that." instead of falling back on his sarcasm or natural charm, he was honest with her, "Unless you have buisness to attend to in Tuscany, I can't let you come with me this time." He never turned to face her as he spoke, refusing to let her see how much it hurt him to tell her to stay at home instead of coming with and keeping an eye out for him.

 

Mya looked down and then back at him. Just don't hert yourself too bad ok?

 

Zane swallowed past the lump in his throat, "I promise." He turned and gave her a long kiss before heading out the door.

 

Mya kissed him back and waved a goodbye, wishing him a safe return back.

 

Zane rode hard and fast to Tuscany without trouble. Tuscany's streets proved a minor challenge to him as he manuvored through them to find a rather old man dressed much like himself and Mya sitting by a fountain. Zane stood beside him, "Why did the assassin cross the road?"
The man looked up at him and smiled, "Because a Templar was chasing him. So what brings you all the way out here...Reaper is it?"
Zane nodded, "Garth McHugh is dead." It was all he needed to say for the old man to know almost everything, but his next words surprised him.
"And then...?"
Zane blinked down at him, "I celebrated by sleeping with a girl. What's that have to do with anything?"
He shook his head, "Still so ignorant. Templars will come for your head, other Conspirators will learn your name and will hunt you relentlessly. It's best if you had no contacts."
Zane thought of Mya and shook his head, "I can't do that."
"Oh? Is she that important to you? Or is it me you refuse to let go of?"
Zane smiled at him and laughed lightly, "Why would I want to let go of you...Uncle. You're the last family I've kept hidden for twelve years."

BIC: Mya stepped out of Zane's room when no one was looking. She then casualy walked around the villa, trying to find somethig to do.

 

Zane and his Uncle walked along the rooftops for a while before his Uncle noticed something different about his nephew. "You're different Reaper. Has killing Garth made you a better man?"
Zane laughed quietly, "No Uncle, the girl has. Uncle I thought you asked me to accompany you around Tuscany for the day to show me something, not to lecture me on my habits."
He laughed, "I see...your womanizing hasn't stopped has it. Listen to the sound of the city boy, do you hear any screams of people being beaten by Templars?"
Zane considered this an unusual question, but he stood still and listened. Silence. "No...I don't. Why?"
His Uncle sat down on a ledge, "Because I killed most of them. For a while in between conspirators and crusaders, there's a peace and assassins have to learn to enjoy that. Zane, my boy, you've been a valued nephew all my life but now is the time to stop dwelling in the past and find the pieces of Eden. Then the Creed can be accepted again by all and the Templars won't have their dirty hands in everything." He jumped off the ledge and disappeared into the masses of monks making their way into the monestary.
Zane felt confused, he didn't even know where to look for the pieces of Eden, let alone what they were really. He walked back to his horse and rode slowly back to Florence.

 

Mya sighed, wondering when Zane will come back. She paced her room, nothig to do in her mind. Please be safe.

 

Zane could see the villa in sight when a man jumped from the trees, frightening his horse. Nightsky reared back and threw Zane to the ground. He landed on his side and rolled to avoid the blade that slammed into the dirt beside his head. He looked up at the tattered...boy? A small if not barely a teenager boy was attacking him? "Who are you?" The boy bared his teeth and pulled his sword which looked much too heavy for him to hold from the ground, "I am Sky McHugh. You killed my father!"
Zane blinked and narrowly dodged the boy's next swing, "What? Garth didn't have any children. He didn't even have a wife."
Sky rubbed his light gray eyes, "You don't think I know that. My mother didn't marry him cause he was always in danger and she didn't want to put me though that, but now that my father's dead. I'm gonna take up his job and finish the man who killed him!"
Zane didn't have time to deal with a child, he wanted to go home, "Your father was a horrible man, you should be thanking me for killing him. I don't have time for this." Zane shoved him to the ground and dashed off after Nightsky toward the villa. The boy apparently giving chase.

 

Mya looked out the window and saw Zane running towards the Villa. She was glad, but frowned when he saw a teenager chasing him? Wonder what's going on? She pulled on her stuff and headed outside.

 

Zane pulled to halt before Mya, "Hey," he panted. The boy still kept running at him with his heavy sword raised. Zane quickly blocked it with his own short sword and pushed the boy back, "For crying out loud kid, you can't follow me in here! This is my home! Go away. Your father deserved to die!"
Sky's lower lip trembled, "N-no that's not true! He was a good man and you killed him out of cold blood!"
Zane groaned and dragged his hand down his face.

 

Mya bit her lip. He's right. Your father worked on some terrible projects. He wanted to rule the world. Is that what you call a good father? Hiding secrets from his son just to achieve his goals. I think not. No matter how you look at it, your father put on a fake outside to fool others.

 

Sky started to cry, blubbering non-sensical words and Zane pulled the sword from his hands, "Go home kid. You don't want to be here when other assassins, ones not as forgiving of your family as I am, show up." Sky blinked in fear and ran back down to Florence.

Zane pulled Mya into his arms and kissed her, "Thanks."

 

Mya kissed him back. You were a bit harsh on the boy don't you think? Felt bad for the kid even though he's the enemy.
