One Last Stand

Story​

Humanity is on the brink of self-destruction with crime rates spiraling out of control. Over the years the human population has become so corrupt, civilization is now in a state once only thought possible through imagination. Just as human kind reaches the point of no return, two brothers emerge from the darkness as “shining knights” and enact a form of martial law with a mysterious army that seemingly came from nowhere. Without any form of order, the rest of humanity quickly falls into submission of these two men and the crimes being committed comes to an abrupt halt.

Within a span of two years, the humans are separated into several facilities called “Voids” where they would be held in moderately comfortable living quarters under watch of heavy security. The plan of the two men was to hold them there until they were ready to be released without fear of the humans becoming destructive once more.

As time passed one of the brothers, known as Caro, became impatient and soon decided that it would be better to kill the humans as they were deemed to have gone too far to be saved. His brother, Ronan, disapproved of such tactics and did his best to persuade Caro to stick to their original plan. Ignoring his brother, Caro gathered his eight best soldiers and gave them the power to oversee the extermination of the humans. Ronan knew it was impossible to challenge his brother alone so he created copies of the most powerful weapons that Caro’s leading soldiers possessed and selected a handful of the prisoners to aid him in fighting against his brother.

The day before Caro’s plan went into action, Ronan set off an explosion in one of the Voids which freed a large number of people who would then form what would be the only resistance against the extermination of the human race…


Factions

The Hunters ~ Nobody knows who they really are or if they’re even human. The Hunters are stronger and faster than the average human. They immediately appeared at the arrival of Caro and Ronan and easily defeated any human opposition. They carry a variety of weapons with them and are highly trained soldiers of war. Although Caro and Ronan had control over them, they quickly sided with Caro due to their inescapable desire for battle.

The Elite ~ They are the most dangerous of all the Hunters, the Elite were the eight chosen members of the Hunters to oversee the destruction of the humans. Each one of them carries a unique weapon that distinguishes them from the Hunters.

The Humans ~ You are either one of the thousands of humans still held captive in the Void or are part of the resistance, aiming to fight for your own survival and freedom. While you may or may not have stolen a weapon in your escape, you must prepare to defend yourself from those that would seek to hunt you down. The resistance lies in a forest that stretches out a great distance. Ronan had actually prepared the area for the arrival of the humans and had set up a “Camp” for them to live in.

The Select ~ Eight humans who were chosen by Ronan to be the brute force of the resistance. While they haven’t all been properly trained to fight, they have a greater will to protect others than the rest of their kind whether they know it or not. Their weapons are copies of those used by the Elite with one slight modification. While wielding their weapon, the Select gain the physical prowess of an Elite as to match them in combat when the time comes.



The Weapons [Special equipment for the Elite and Select only.]


Daedelus Lance ~ A spear which is normally about 5 feet in length. The Daedelus Lance has the ability to extend and contract at extremely high speeds, extending up to 500 feet in length and contracting down to a length of 6 inches in a time span of one second. The spearhead is strong enough to easily pierce through armor. It’s most useful as a way to surprise an opponent both with the length of the weapon and the speed of the extensions. Even at full length, the lance is not heavy enough to be a burden to the wielder and can still be easily swung.

Excalibur ~ At first glance, the weapon is merely the hilt of a sword with no handguards but with the flick of a switch, an almost triangular blade releases from the handle. Although the blade could be used as a regular sword, it contains a second switch that causes the blade to release a thin layer of superheated plasma allowing the blade to cut through nearly anything. The blade also allows the user to draw power from his/her own body to discharge a wave of plasma, serving as the weapon’s only ranged attack. [A little side note; the plasma surrounding the blade and discharged from it is green.]

Garuda Busters ~ Twin pistols that fire bullets made of pure energy. They never need reloading and can fire dozens of bullets at once. They make for a perfect way to get rid of several weak enemies at once. What the Garuda Busters lack in raw power they make up for the sheer number of bullets they can repeatedly fire to overwhelm opponents. [A little note here, the bullets are blue.]

Arbalest ~ A weapon somewhat similar to both Excalibur and the Garuda Busters. Arbalest is a longbow with a great deal of power. Although it cannot fire as rapidly as the Garuda Busters, the arrows have a higher concentration of energy that can penetrate through the thickest armor just like a hot knife through butter. Like Excalibur, it can draw energy from the user to make the arrows larger and give an explosive effect when they make contact. Arbalest does not need regular arrows as they can be summoned from thin air. [The arrows are red.]

Griffin Claws ~ The Griffin Claws look like a pair of thick gray glove. As the name suggests, the weapon has retractable claws that are capable of tearing through just about anything. The gloves themselves are nearly indestructible and are resilient to extreme temperatures. The Griffin Claws are the only weapon that further increases the user’s physical ability, enabling them to perform greater physical feats with ease.

Daggertail ~ A menacing looking weapon, the Daggertail is a chained whip with each link being a separate blade. The Daggertail is a stinger-like ending that would easily rip through a wall if given the chance. Although it lacks some of the penetrating power of the other weapons, a proficient user would be easily able to clear an area when surrounded. The Daggertail, although can be used like a regular chain whip, can be controlled to move almost like a snake by the user’s mind. Also, the chain cannot cut its user.

Howling Fangs ~ The Howling Fangs are a pair of twin blades that are somewhat similar to Excalibur. They do not have retractable blades but they do however have switches that enable the swords to be covered in a layer of plasma just like Excalibur. The blades’ designs are a reminiscent of those of a katana. They also lack the function to discharge waves of plasma as a form of attack; they can however, release the plasma when the blades are crossed to form a large circular shield in front of the user to protect from oncoming attacks. [The color of the plasma for these weapons are purple.]

Sky Ripper ~ A scythe whose blade is collapsible allowing it to serve as a staff as well. The blade gets its name partially from the type of weapon it is as well as its ability. It releases a deafening screech as well as a powerful shockwave when the staff is slammed into the ground. It lacks the raw power of some of the other weapons but has the greatest area of effect for a single attack.


Rules

1. I’m going to put as few rules as possible so you people aren’t overwhelmed with too much info. First off… no Godmodding or Powerplaying.
2. Please put some detail in your posts. No one-liners. Also, I want people to have good grammar.
3. You can have up to three characters max. Only ONE Select per person. You can have up to TWO Elites as well since I doubt many people will want to be the “bad guys” in this.
4. Don’t spam here, if you make a comment out of character use “OOC:” when you do so and “BIC:” to say when you’re back in character.
5. Don’t make your character all-knowing or the ultimate killing machine. It gets annoying seeing people try to become Rambo or something.
6. I reserve the right to add more rules as I see fit. Also, if I kick you out(I’ve never had to kick anyone out), don’t start a big deal out of it.

Bio: Back before Caro and Ronan had arrived, Holden had been a thief. Since there were few things to steal from the average person, he set his sights on everyone else he felt were criminals…which were nearly everybody who wasn’t a victim to the heavy crimes being committed. Like many others he knew, his parents had both been killed. Things flew by quickly when Caro and Ronan appeared. First he was imprisoned, and life there was much more peaceful, then there was talk of an oncoming extermination…Then the next thing he knew, there was an explosion in the Void he and over a hundred others were in. He briefly met with the man known as Ronan who quickly explained to him and seven others what happened before they were given weapons Ronan had made for them.

Personality: Holden is somewhat anti-social, declining to talk to most people unless he has reason to. When he does open up, he can be a bit humorous. He enjoys making comments about the situations he’s in when no one is around to hear him. Although he doesn’t show it very often, he cares about others although he won’t go around risking his life to save everyone at a moment’s notice.

Bio: Adela was an only child and lived with her father. Her mother died during child birth so she never knew who her mother was. Due to the crime rates, Adela was in hiding most of the time, her father being in fear that something would happen to her whenever he had to go out and work. They were poor and lived in a poorly taken care of house, but her father tried his best to take care of his only daughter. When Caro and Ronan showed up, Adela was separated from her father and never seen again. The only thing she could think of was that her father was already dead in a matter of years. During the years she was in the facility, everything was a complete blur. She barely remembers anything and only remembers an explosion and meeting Ronan.

Personality: Adela is normally calm and quiet. Some people might think of her as a shy person, but she really isn’t. She just doesn’t really like opening up to someone so quickly. When she’s by herself, she’s curious to her surroundings, but whenever she’s with someone, she usually holds that curiosity in. She can also come off a bit playful when she opens up to someone and is someone who is willing to work hard.

Bio: Sekira doesn't remember much about her childhood or what it was like. Actually, she doesn't remember anything at all. When she was sixteen, she woke up in a world that seemed to be new to her, but she knew it from somewhere before. She was told that she was in the Voids, and that two brothers were taking care of the human race. And so she took it as it was, trying to rebuild her life again. Until one day, there was the explosion. And then she met up with Ronan.

Personality: Quite reserved most of the time, and sometimes her mind seems elsewhere. But if there's a good cause to fight for, Sekira can focus on the task ahead without problems. She's not one to cry so easily, so if she does, it's for a good reason. People may sometimes think she's a little cold, but she has a warm squishy spot in her heart if people open themselves up to her.

Bio: Lenay's parents got a divorce when she was 13 years old. Her father then left, and she never saw him again. She lived alone with her mother for several years, and they took care of each other until her mother died of a brain tumor when she was 17 years old.. Not too long after, she was shot twice. Once in the hip, and another in the chest. No doctors would help her, but a young man by the name of Daniel founder her bleeding on the sidewalk, and nursed her back to health. She was just coming to after being in a coma, when she saw the door broken down, and three men storm into the room she was in. Two of the men held Daniel still, while the third beat him to death with his own two hands. They saw her, but she was ignored, and they left as quickly as they came. She knew then, that the world was a cruel place. What hurt her the most, was that she never said thank you to poor Daniel.

A new law was soon passed, and she was shuffled into a living area that she found to be claustrophobic. She hated it. She had no room to breathe. Others liked the safety of it, but she would rather be living in the dangerous world of the past than be imprisoned. Soon an explosion rattled the void she was living in, and she heard talk of a camp in the woods where a man by the name of Ronan was waiting for them.

Personality: Lenay tends to be quite cynical at times, but she tries to change to the positive side of her personality when she notices. She's obstinate, and selfish at times, but deep down, she really cares for the people she gets close to.

Other: She is very clever, and not fooled easily. She tends to get extremely paranoid at times, and is a chronic insomniac. She has abandonment problems, and attachment issues from her father leaving her at such a crucial age, and losing the only person who was willing to help her when she was in trouble.
