This is completely wrong in so many ways, I am sorry. Have you even played the games or paid attention? Just wondering.

First off, Ventus had his own heart. Sadly, it was damaged and took residence in Sora. So when Sora stabbed himself in order for Kairi to wake up, Roxas looked like Ventus because that was the heart that it took most after. In knowing this, we can say that Sora's heart went to Kairi and has stayed there, I think.

Don't call yourself stupid. I didn't realized it until they confirmed; It was like "They confirmed! Yay! What?".
For the Xion, I really didn't know there was others meanings, or even that mine was wrong. =P But you did a great job figuring it out for yourself, I just realized Roxas's case, which Xemnas give him the answer, "Roxas, the new you". What I found interesting about names is DiZ, which means Darkness in Zero (Secret Ansem Report #-I don't remember the number). His case it's a little different, since he didn't lost his heart but just felt like he lost his Name.

Name in Kingdom Hearts is something really interesting!

 

I know, right? There's always some reason behind the character's names. XD I knew Xion came from 'Ex No. I' *is smart*. Her name in Romaji, 'Shion' *thinks of the insane green-haired person from Higurashi, if anyone has actually watched that XD* means tide, which follows the Kairi, Naminé and Aqua thing for water-themed names. XD

Didn't Roxas have Ventus' heart inside him, though? That still kind of confuses me sometimes. XD

To save Terra and Aqua, Ventus had to fight with Vanitas, but destroying him means destroy his own heart. Even so, he did. While that, Sora felt that someone up there was really hurt, and Riku said that he could help this person opening his heart and listening. Sora did that and saved Ventus from the Darkness. Ven asked to be with Sora, and Sora accepted.

In Kingdom Hearts I, in order to save Kairi, Sora used the Artificial Keyblade to release her heart, but in the process he lost his heart. (Since now, I am not sure) Ven's heart isn't the same as before, now his heart is together with Sora's. So when Roxas was created (when Sora used the Keyblade), the old body of Sora turned into someone that seems like Ventus.

So the Roxas has this appearance because wasn't just Sora's heart that, Ven's too. When Kairi saved Sora, both Sora's heart and Ven's heart was saved and come to the light together again.

And yea,
Aqua in Latin means water, Kairi in Japanese means water.
Ventus in Latin means wind, Sora in Japanese means sky.
Terra in Latin means earth, Riku in Japanese means earth.

Make sense. Very clever.
