~~*Organzation XIII goes to court*~~

Riku really was upset and angry but exhaled slowly to release the rage that built up. He had learned to control his feelings a lot more than probably any teen could claim after what happened to him over the last couple years. He was not miffed about the Org at all. As far as he was concerned, it was a trial and justice would be served and that's all that mattered was the truth would be known and this would get over. He was more upset at Namine herself who had never been a friend obviously if she felt so wretched about him that he used her for his own selfish desires. He had left DiZ because he did not agree with his methods and only had stuck around long enough to ensure Sora would awaken...which is what Namine was there for too. He had even tried to help Roxas. But Namine didn't notice and why would she? He felt she was rather self-absorbed to miss things like that or the fact he got Namine away from DiZ and disobeyed DiZ's order in the first place. He understood DiZ wanting revenge but he did not condone it.

All he could wonder about now was how this was going to be used by the Defense because when Riku went to testify, he would probably have to refute that claim which could either toss out Namine's statements or his own...or he would have to lie to save both statements. He did not like this at all but he sat and mulled over what he would do. Lying would be wrong...so it crossed his mind he'd just have to say it was her opinion and he did not share it and hope no one was called for perjury.

Harvey checked out his watch and looked at Pikachu doing his antics. It was just another day. "There was another time you also stood up to Marluxia, wasn't there, Namine? After the battle where he used you as a shield and set Sora and Axel to combat...you were in another area with Marluxia and what did he tell you to do that you refused to, and what did you do? Also, explain the scene here in detail leading up to Marluxia and Sora's battle."

 

OOC: Repliku, dude. You're doing such a good job of playing Riku that even I'M getting frustrated with him. :sweat: And the sad part is Naminé can't do anything about it right now due to her still being on the witness stand. It just gives Riku more time to seethe and by the time she DOES get a chance, I'm going to assume Riku's not going to want anything to do with her. Man, now I'm really regretting bringing up that statement in the first place. Goes to show you that trying to cover a possible counter doesn't help if there's no basis to begin with. Must've been drunk when I wrote that. :p

Naminé thought for a moment. She contemplated how to put this into words...

OOC: Sorry, it's been a long night, and I really don't have the energy to think up of a summary. I know it's lazy, but it's still evidence.

Pika_power sat up, and decided to start contributing.
"Interesting... I noticed a few things there. When Murluxia said that you would pay the price for disobeying him, I can assume that meant he was threatening you?"

Pika_power sat back, thinking that it was a completly unneeded statement. Of course it was a threat! He felt useless. Next time, I shall do more. he decided.
Goofy noticed that Riku looked upset, so he attempted to comfort him. "Don't worry Riku, I'll bet Namine only said those things on accident. Y'know, to stop the opposition using it against you. She looked really impressed..."

"Destressed, you palooka!" Donald interupted.

"Uh right. So anyway, she looked really distressed. I think she might have said it by mistake... It would be easy. You would be being questioned, then you would let something slip! Like the time I accidentally shredded Daisy's dress while it was being washed!"

Realizing what he said, Donald started muttering a spell.

 

"I don't see any other way to take that statement, do you Mr. Power?" Naminé asked hypothetically.

 

OOC: Thanks. Riku will get over it. Just he's probably not going to trust her for a while and well, debates on if her statement is going to haunt him or not. lol. It could be used in skillful hands. Riku is a thinker. He'd know how it could be used.

Harvey Birdman gave a nod. "Thank you. One last thing, Namine. What is the charm that you had altered and that Larxene had stolen from Sora? What is its significance to Sora?"

*Once answered*

"That will be all of the questions from me for the moment. Thank you, ma'am." Harvey walks back to his seat, stepping on a skateboard precariously placed in the room, slides and drops into his seat... and looks at Pikachu to see if he was going to add anything. If not, cross-examination time.

Riku sighed. "Guys, please stop defending her. It's not like I'm going to do anything about it and don't hate her or something. She can feel how she wants. I'm fine. She was fine to say the comment in the first place. She'll be great. I'd really like to think of something else than this...like Donald seems to be going to zap you in a moment Goofy." *smirks*

Sora held Kairi's hand and gave Riku a smirk. He knew Riku would sooner or later let it go but if he really did feel as he did, that would hurt. Friends 'used' each other all of the time but it was a mutual thing of shared company or favors back and forth. It was obvious Riku would 'let it go' but he was certainly not feeling a 'friendship' with Namine. Sora assumed Riku had thought her a friend to some degree or he wouldn't have been so angry about it. In the end, he was sure it would work out, even as perspectives changed. It was only a sentence or two. Who could stay mad forever for that? Of course, Sora could 'forgive' about anything if someone was sincere and real about it.

 

OOC: Are there any openings other than the remaining Organization members? I don't mind taking a position such as that, but if I can make an OC witness benefitting the defendant, then that would be my ideal. And if you could give me a recap on everything past the "weapons" charge? Thanks :D.

Naminé raised an eyebrow thoughtfully. Considering she had already answered the question before.

Naminé shrugged. That was exactly what she said and there was no reason to change the statement. She glanced intently at Pika_Power and wondered if he had anything to add. If not, then the real fight would begin...

Harvey Birdman looked at the judge now and stood up once more. "The reason I asked her these questions is because the Offense will not play up to the fact of her actual abuse, being imprisoned in the Castle Oblivion and though she was wrong to do some acts she did, out of her own selfishness for wanting company that would be 'friendly' to her, she was coerced by Vexen, Marluxia and Larxene."

He takes a breath and then sips some water that was on the table. "She was also manhandled by Larxene and Marluxia, and used as a hostage. These things should be noted clearly for the record and since the Defense was not at all bringing this to light, I figured it truly should be out there. She may not be the perfect witness as in being 'innocent' but she is someone who was clearly held against her will, abused, threatened, physically abused and assaulted, held as a hostage and as a minor was still coerced into erasing Sora's memories and replacing them with pseudo ones. He was forced to make the sacrifice of his own true memories or the ones at the Castle because of the nature of her powers. It is very clear that this girl suffered at the hands of Marluxia and Larxene mainly."

"Now the problem remains that we are trying the Org but have to look at each individual here for charges, rather than going after the whole group. It is clear that they did not obviously get along, because Namine's own testimony in itself shows a division of lines. Therefore we want to get each charge correct to the proper member of the Organization and not just lump them together. The Organization technically may have issues even against their own people that are not so addressed, such as the coup led by Marluxia with Larxene assisting. So, I will hope, your Honor, as we bring up each person whether of the Organization or not, that we have time to cross-examine and study their situations individually to get a feel for each member of the Organization and charge them justly."

"Thank you, your Honor. We will now let the Defense go." *goes and takes a seat once again at the table.*

 

The judge nodded.

"Such is to be expected from a group of people who cannot feel emotions. It's not a stretch to think that they couldn't feel loyalty to each other either." he sighed, then looked at the defense. "It's your move, Defense. Ponder wisely."

 

Xelax flinched back, as though the testimony of Namine managed to hurt him phyiscally.

He then composed himself. Turning towards the judge, "Your honor, if I may make a request, I would like Larxene to make a rebuttal prior to cross-examining Namine? Is that ok?"

OOC: Chula, Pika_power said he was in charge of the minor characters unless someone else wants them. Other than that there is just the Org members...

Pika_power leant back in his chair, watching Axel and Xelax simultaneously. He again had the serious-crosseyed appearance. He smiled at Axel, waving the bag of "Bad" skittles.

"So, the opposition is calling Larxane to the stand? Does this mean we can cross examine her?"

despite his willingness to condemn Larxane, he was impressed wtih her skill as an electric wielder. In other circumstances, he might want her to be his trainer.

OOC: Okay, for handy reference, here is the updated version of Naminé's testimony. Statements in blue are either modified or additions.

• The most earliest memories I have are from Castle Oblivion.
• At first I lured Sora there because I was lonely.
  [*]At the time, I felt more like a tool than an actual person.
• But then certain members used me for their own selfish desires.
  [*]Specifically Marluxia, Larxene, Vexen, Axel, DiZ...and as much as I regret saying this, Riku.
  [*]However, I actually offered to help Riku instead of him forcing me to, so it might not be considered selfish.
• I was forced to manipulate Sora's memories and lure him further into the castle.
  [*]This was so Marluxia and Larxene could overtake the Organization.
  [*]Marluxia threatened to imprison me forever if I didn't obey.
  [*]I changed Sora's thalassa lucky charm which represented his promise to Kairi into a false promise to me.
• I was also forced to implant false memories into Repliku.
  [*]Larxene was the one who suggested I do it.
  [*]I was able to escape from imprisonment with Axel's help.
  [*]Afterwards, Larxene knocked me away when I tried to protect a weakened Sora from his fight with Repliku.
  [*]I was unarmed when she hit me.
  [*]After that, Marluxia used me as a shield and an incentive for Sora to attack Axel.
  [*]Eventually, Marluxia threatened me to erase all of Sora's memories.
  [*]I made an attempt to stand up to him and refused.
  [*]Marluxia said that I'd "pay the price" for disobeying him.

The judge sighed.

"That would be a tad inconvenient to the current witness, would it not?" the judge stated flatly. "If you refuse to cross-examine the witness now, I'm afraid you'll lose the chance to do so later as well."

 

Kairi was on bated breath. If the defense didn't Cross-Examine Naminé now, she wouldn't have to be called up again. Would that have been a good thing or a bad thing? She tapped her chin thoughtfully. If the defense went ahead with their current actions and decided to bring in Larxene for Naminé, then the prosecution's arguments and Naminé's testimony would be official and final in the Court Record. That seemed like a good thing, right?

But if the defense decided to abandon their plan in bringing in Larxene, that meant Naminé would have to be forced to testify even further. And considering how the defense acted toward her earlier, Kairi didn't think Naminé would be able to keep her composure for much longer...

 

Xelax looked up at the judge. "Yes your honor, I will proceed with cross examination now then."

Truly now? Don't nobodies usually retain the knowledge and memories of thier other's lives?

Xelax smirked this was just what he wanted to here. "Could you please elaborate?" the simple opened ended quetion was enough. He did not want to be accused of badgering again.

"When you were leading Sora?" he sensed something. "Do tell..."

"Selfish desires?" he smirked, sensing something else there... "Elaborate, what do you believe these selfish desires to be? For each of them to the best of your knowledge."

"Also, you offered Riku your help?" he put a heavy slant on the word.

"And how exactly did you manipulate his memories?"

"A bold statement... I do find that one hard to believe." He smirked...

"How?"

"The same lucky charm we discussed earlier no doubt?"

"Larxene? Why would Replica Riku having memories benefit her?"

"But did you not say earlier that Axel only manipulated you? Now your telling us he helped you? Please explain more clearly for the court."

Xelax flinched... "This can't be good... better not press this one..." he whispered to himself. No one else could here it.

"Were you now? I do find it out of character for Ms. Larxene to strike an unarmed young lady such as yourself. You had nothing available to use as a weapon in your presence?"

"So, why would Sora attack either Marluxia or Axel? And why would Marluxia want Axel to fight Sora?"

"What would have happened if Sora's memories were erased?"

"Why?"

"Why would he threaten you in that way? If he needed you so badly."

OOC: Xelax is a little nicer this round, since I got nailed for badgering last time...

Naminé wondered if she should mention Ansem the Wise's reports. Although she had never seen them herself, she did remember Sora mentioning them.

"Usually that would be the case. But there are special instances where a Nobody is created with no memory of their original selves. Me and Roxas are proof of that."

Xelax smirked this was just what he wanted to here. "Could you please elaborate?" the simple opened ended quetion was enough. He did not want to be accused of badgering again.

Naminé was ready for this question. "I was the only 10 year-old-looking 14 year-old in the Castle. The Organization members were busy with their plans. I had no place there and was mainly in the way. Eventually, I became aware of a connection between me and a young boy that I had never met, but knew all about. Wanting to finally interact with someone my own age, I pulled him toward Castle Oblivion. Unfortunately," she added bitterly, "certain members of the Organization caught onto my connection and decided to use my powers over Sora's memories for their own purposes."

"When you were leading Sora?" he sensed something. "Do tell..."

Naminé assumed this was a throwaway comment, so she didn't bother answering...

"Selfish desires?" he smirked, sensing something else there... "Elaborate, what do you believe these selfish desires to be? For each of them to the best of your knowledge."

"Also, you offered Riku your help?" he put a heavy slant on the word.

"Marluxia and Larxene wanted me to rearrange the memories of Sora's heart so they could use him to overthrow Xemnas and the rest of the Organization. Vexen wanted to test Sora's power by sending Repliku after him. For that, he wanted me to implant the same false memories I gave to Sora into Repliku. Axel..." She didn't know how to word it. "I'm assuming that he wanted all of the Organization members that were stationed at Castle Oblivion to be destroyed, so he helped me to escape. DiZ...wanted me to wake Sora up for revenge against the Organization. He was planning on disposing of me later. And..." Naminé almost felt like crying. "Riku..." She let out a loud sniff. "I...I'm sorry. I don't know if I can do this..."

Kairi felt sorry for Naminé. She knew the guilt was eating her up inside. "Come on, girl. Believe in yourself," she whispered.

Naminé took a few deep breaths to regain her composure. "To be honest, I don't personally see Riku's actions as selfish. But..." Her voice became slightly bitter. "If I were an Organization member, I'd probably see any attempt in rousing the Keyblade's chosen one so he could destroy our very existence as a selfish act." She looked up at Riku. "But I don't believe he's selfish. All he wanted was to go home and have his friends safe and sound in one piece. I'd consider those motives selfless." Naminé knew it was irrelevant to the issue, but at the moment she didn't care. She sincerely hoped that Riku would forgive her for even thinking of him being selfish.

"As for offering my help, Xehanort's Heartless was still trying to overtake his body and heart. I offered to lock him away forever along with his memories of darkness, but Riku refused it. As a result, he had to fight and wield the darkness under his own power. Using it, he did everything he could to wake Sora up, even if it meant sacrificing his own identity."

"And how exactly did you manipulate his memories?"

Naminé hesitated. She knew how her own powers worked, right? But then, what was this nagging feeling inside her...

"I took apart the Chain of Memories that resided in Sora's heart and re-linked them to fabricate a false memory of me as Sora's promise girl. Because of the lucky charm, Sora had motivation to continue on his quest to find Riku. Changing the charm and his memories, that same motivation and strive became his driving force to travel through the castle."

"A bold statement... I do find that one hard to believe." He smirked...

Naminé smiled back. "Oh, I'm not the only one who knows all of this. If you want, you should ask Axel, Lexaeus or Zexion. They knew what was going on as well."

"How?"

Naminé looked at the prosecutor curiously. "What do you mean, "How?" He was given power over Castle Oblivion and he had the strength and power to prevent me from leaving until his objective was complete." She shook her head. "I don't know how much more I can elaborate on that."

"The same lucky charm we discussed earlier no doubt?"

Naminé nodded.

"Larxene? Why would Replica Riku having memories benefit her?"

"It would make it seem more convincing to Sora of the memories that I implanted in him. Repliku's very presence would entice Sora to keep going upward to seek out the answers he thought he needed. The more true memories that Sora lost and the more false memories that he gained would bring the conspirators closer to their goal of overthrowing the Organization."

"But did you not say earlier that Axel only manipulated you? Now your telling us he helped you? Please explain more clearly for the court."

"He had his own motives for what he did, true. But he did allow me to escape the room so I could save Sora from the tainted memories I gave him. So even if he had his own reasons that would benefit him, he still decided to let me out..."

Xelax flinched... "This can't be good... better not press this one..." he whispered to himself. No one else could here it.

Naminé looked at him curiously. She was pretty sure that saying Larxene attacked her would stay in the Court Record.

"Were you now? I do find it out of character for Ms. Larxene to strike an unarmed young lady such as yourself. You had nothing available to use as a weapon in your presence?"

Naminé was about to say "no," but something in his question seemed a bit suspicious. Then she realized. Sora's Keyblade. She could've...no, that wasn't right. Sora still had it in his hand. Plus, she was busy trying to prevent Larxene from advancing any further. What was she supposed to do, run toward Sora and grab his Keyblade? Against a fully grown woman who was twice as tall as her and had the powers of Mighty Mouse the Thunder God on her side?

"The only weapon in sight was Sora's Keyblade. But he was a few feet away behind me and I was trying to prevent Larxene from getting any closer to him." She raised an eyebrow. "Or are you insinuating that I should've tried stealing Sora's Keyblade for myself against someone who's twice as tall as me and wields the powers of that prosecutor there?" She jerked her head toward Pika_Power.

"So, why would Sora attack either Marluxia or Axel? And why would Marluxia want Axel to fight Sora?"

"Axel was in Sora's way and Marluxia had me held prisoner. Plus, Axel had just betrayed Marluxia. Marluxia was probably counting on Sora to destroy Axel since he couldn't do it himself."

"What would have happened if Sora's memories were erased?"

"His heart would've collapsed and he'd have been nothing more than an empty shell," she replied. "With no memories, no heart and no will, he'd have been...a vegetable."

"Why?"

"Sora came all that way to protect me despite me changing his memories like that. He forgave me instead of condemning me for my actions. The least I could do was try to return the favor."

"Why would he threaten you in that way? If he needed you so badly."

"His co-conspirators were gone and he was desperate to stay alive. He had nothing more to lose, so he decided to try to use me in a last ditch attempt to get the Keyblade master under his control. And he was willing to do anything for that to happen. Even if it meant a death threat."

 

Pika_power sat back, grinning from ear to ear. He felt like a child who had just watched his hated sibling told off by their parents. He knew it was an immensely childish idea, but he couldn't resist thumbing his nose at the defense.

"Even if this is true, I fail to see how it affects the persecution.

Pika_power grumbled, but could find nothing to object. Instead he focused on Axel. With very good aim, he tried to shoot a skittle into Axel's open mouth. He shot, missed, and hit him in the eye. Ah well. At least he had Axel's attention. The pokemon then made crude 'kill him' gestures towards Stitch.

"Yes. She has now said that she personally did not think Riku selfish, only that the org would. Now, I have a few things to say here, Riku did not rouse Sora because he was the keyblade bearer. He merely wished to rescue his friend from oblivion. This is not a selfish act, for it is only attempting to reverse the org's effect on Sora. When Sora was awake, he may attempt to destroy the org. This however is Sora's decision. Riku or DiZ never influenced this. Trying to wake someone up is hardly selfish.

Pika_power thumbed his nose again. "If you wish, find it hard to believe. By all means, don't believe it." Pika_power smirked, imitating Xelax. "But if you wish to have your beliefs hold up in court, provide evidence. Otherwise I find it 'hard to believe' that the org did not go on a rampage killing millions of pokemon and stealing Ash's first generation hat."

"By opening his mouth and saying 'Namine, if you do not change Sora's memory, I will keep you trapped here'? That is how he threatened to keep her imprisoned. If you happen to have meant something else...

Naimine was kept there by force. If Murluxia said he could keep her there, he could. The org has shown that it can ambush Corridors of Darkness, so that option of escape is closed. Along with the doors being sealed, Namine could not conceivably escape."

It does not matter. She had the idea, and got Namine to do it. The reason 'why' is better asked to Larxane.

OoC: Isn't saying "no one else could hear it" God modding?
"Hah! Caught you! I can lip read!" The pokemon was ecstatic, he had finally caught him out! "So... What are you pressing under that desk? Perhaps a bag of skittles? I have it all worked out! You are entertaining yourself by crushing skittles, but you just saw one with a deadly spider on it, so you said that you better not press it!" The pokemon turned to the judge, eager to share his discovery. "Judge, I charge Xelax with squishing skittles, and contempt of court!" The pokemon lay back, pleased with his lip reading skills.
OoC: No matter. I cannot hear it, but I can lip read it!

"Would you now? Larxane is a traitor to her kind, and sadistic. She took pleasure in torturing Repliku. I wouldn't say hitting a girl is below her."

"Again, irrelevant. The thing on debate at the moment is that Namine was threatened." A thought hit Pika_power. "In fact, this is about Murluxia. This charge is relating to Larxane! How did we even get onto this topic?!?"

Pika_power sighed. "Xelax, you are going off topic. This is Larxane's trial. Not Murluxia. How can Larxane be involved in any of this? She sank to darkness a floor ago."

OoC: Aww, and just as Pika_power started getting a bit nastier.
