"Who could imagine one man could be cause two people so much grief and suffering?" Naoto asked.

 

"We didn't, until we found out the truth about him."

 

"The truth?" Chie asked. Arisa turned to Hattori, Kyo was gripping her mother's leg.

 

"One night, he ended up sending someone to capture me. Arisa and the others came to get me out of the lab. We ended up coming across his files and found out about not only the details of project Nyx and Hellstrider, but also how many people he ended up killing to perfect these experiments."

Arisa stroked Kyo's hair and everyone stared, shocked.

 

"We turned him into the police, and he got a life sentence. Somehow, he ended up getting out and into the tv world. He attacked me there, and I ended up killing him in self-defense."

 

"My shadow helped him and Teddie helped me defeat it. But somehow, he turned into a shadow himself and tried to harm our daughter."

 

"My anger got the better of me when he tried to harm Kyo. I ended up tearing his shadow into pieces."

 

"I guess it's only natural for a parent to protect their child from harm." Chie said. Kyo held her mother's leg as she thought about the man she heard about.

 

Hattori looked at Kyo.

"Don't worry, Kyo. Mommy and daddy won't let the bad men hurt you."

 

Kyo nodded. Teddie smiled. "Ryoji-kun says we should have a competition when we get back to Kyoto."

 

"What sort of competition?"

 

"Something to celebrate the coming of new members. Junpei-kun was saying something like a drinking contest or something."

 

"It's not the King's game, is it?"

 

"The King?" Arisa asked as a tamed fox with a bip around its neck walked up to Kyo.

 

"It's a game where you draw lots. One has a red mark, while the others are numbered. The person who draws the red one is the king. The king picks a number, and the person with that number has to do what the king says."

 

"No, I don't think so." Teddie shrugged his shoulder. "Anyway, Ryoji says it feels weird fighting one of his kind."

"I don't blame him....." Arisa said.

 

"I don't blame him either."

 

"Who's Ryoji?" Naoto asked.

"He's the human form of the thirteenth shadow, Death. It was his shadow that I was infused with, he's also the father of the persona Thantos and the avatar of the being Nyx."

 

"Nyx was defeated by SEES and sealed away by Minato Arisato."
