Zero picked Zain up and sighed, "Zain's not going to like that. We should get him to a doctor. I think these wounds shouldn't give away too much. We're all a little spent." he said as Callen came up behind him and cautiously laid a hand on Zero's shoulder.

 

Yuki took them to a private doctor.

 

The doctor clucked over Zain's wound and quickly assessed the damage, "This wound is very unusual. How on earth did he get it?" Zero scowled and Callen explained, "It was an accident. He was trying to reach something from the top of the cabinet and he fell. Glass cut his shoulder." The doctor gave him a doubtful look but continued to examine his wounds. "They look like bite marks. Did a dog get him?"

 

"Yeah, there was a nasty dog running rampant through the neighborhood."

 

The doctor opened his mouth again and Callen started twirling a platinum credit card. His mouth shut and no more questions were asked as he tended to Zain's wound. Zero frowned and snatched his credit card away from Callen, "Stop taking my things." Callen shrugged.

Zain drempt of a place of eternal shadows and darkness. There was fog on the ground, making it difficult to see two feet in front of him. Glancing around, he sighed and felt something cold wrap around his shoulder. Reaching a hand up, he touched what felt like raw crystal. He couldn't see it, but he was almost certain it was crystal.

 

Yuki stepped out to the waiting room.

 

Callen and Zero followed. They no longer wished to see more of Zain's blood. They sat quietly outside until the doctor came back out and mumbled something to Zero. Zero stood and followed him into Zain's room again.

Zain clawed at his crystal arm, the cold feeling was starting to settle all over his body now. "I won't lose like this! Not again! I. Won't. Leave."

 

Yuki looked in the room.

"What's happening to him?"

 

The doctor and Zero watched Zain writhe in his sleep, his nails clawing at his arm and shoulder. "I don't know...the boy seems to be having a nightmare but I can't get him to stop. He won't wake up." Zero firmly grabbed Zain's hand and held it away from his bloody arm, "Zain!" Zain wrest his arm free and continued to claw at it. Zero growled and grabbed his hand again. "Yuki, wake him up. Slap him if that's what it takes."

 

Yuki violently shook Zain and slapped him, trying to get him to wake up.

 

After a few moments of struggle, Zain's eyes flew open. Zero relaxed his snarl and dropped Zain's hand. "Morning, Zain." Zain wildly glanced from Yuki to Zero to the doctor. "Wh-where am I? What's going on?" he glanced at his arm and shivered in horror, "What happend to my arm?"

 

"It was just a bad dream, Zain. Don't worry about it too much."

 

Zain, still being young, felt tears sting the backs of his eyes and looked away from his bloodied arm. Zero helped the doctor bandage his arm and helped him sit upright. "You'll be alright Zain." Zain's blue eyes were glittering with tears as he stared at the ground. "It'll never be alright. I'm..." Callen stopped him with a hand on his shoulder.

 

"Don't say that, Zain. You'll be perfectly fine."

 

Zain nodded and let Callen and Zero wipe off the blood on his nails. "Must've been some nightmare for you to do this to your self." "Yeah...it was pretty awful."

 

"So now you're having nightmares like I am."

 

He laughed, trying to lighten the mood, "Hopefully not as bad as you do...it was just...a lot of fog and...this crystal." Zero grew interested, "Crystal?" "Yeah, my arm it turned to crystal. I didn't want it to be covered completely so I was trying to rip it off, but I guess...I was actualy doing myself harm."

 

Yuki sighed.

"Not again....I don't want to lose my brother again." Yuki thought to herself.

 

Zain grinned half-heartedly, "Hey, I feel fine now. It's only a dream." Zero nodded, though considering the damage done to his arm, he really hadn't wanted to turn to crystal again. "We should take him home now."

 

Yuki nodded and carried Zain home.
