Persona - Mask of Origins

Yuki knocked on the door.

"You ok in there, Zain?"

 

Zain held perfectly still. His eyes wide with fear and his other senses straining for Yuki. The shadow part of him wanted to rip her limb from limb. He barely stiffled a scream and it came out a strangled sound.

Orphan slithered under the door, which seemed impossible by his size and sadly looked up at Yuki, "I wouldn't go in there if I were you. He'ssss in bad shape right now. Give him time, Yuki."

 

Sakuya leaned back in her sit and sighed.

 

"Ok, tell him I'll be back later." Yuki said before walking out to the car.

 

Toya smiled and drove once Yuki sat down. Sakuya sighed. "Something's on your mind as well, Toya-kun."

 

Orphan watched her walk away, the poor girl had no idea how horrible Zain would become. He returned to Zain to find them escaped from their room and running through the woods. "Zain, are you...?" Zain snarled inhumanly. Still he carried his lance as though it were for protection instead of slaughter.

The rest of Zain's day was a black nightmare. He woke two hours later with the images of four individual women being ripped apart by himself. He shrank down in his bed, his fangs were almost gone. They slightly poked out from under his lip and his eyes still had faint red streaks. He didn't feel the need to kill anymore but he was sure it would come back. He wasn't even hungry. Slumping in front of his mirror, he stared at himself and waited for Yuki to return from breakfast.

 

"Yeah, tell us." Yuki said. She was thinking about Zane the whole time.

 

"Our persona will probably know what I'm talking about. Last night, I met a strange old man with a long nose and his assistant in a strange place called the Velvet Room."

"The Velvet Room?"

"Yes, it's covered in velvet. The man called himself Igor."

 

"Sounds like a weird place." Yuki said, wondering if she should get something for Zain before heading home.

 

"That what I thought. But Okami seemed to know Igor." Toya stopped where he took breakfast and ordered his food. Sakuya ordered her food.

 

Yuki quickly ate what she ordered and got some for Zain.

 

Toya drove back to Yuki's house. "Hey, can you two ask your persona if they know the Velvet Room and this Igor guy?"

Sakuya nodded.

 

"I'll talk to Lucifer about it later." Yuki said before getting out.

 

"See ya at school, Yuki-chan!" Toya drove off, Sakuya waved as they left.

 

Yuki set the food she got for Zain on the table when she walked in.

"I'm back, brother."

 

Zain jerked, could it be normal that he could smell her before he heard her? He jumped up and examined himself in the mirror. Noticing some blood still speckled on his neck he wiped it off and ran downstairs, "Yuki!" He tripped on the stairs and some new reflex helped him land on his feet like a cat.

 

"I brought you some breakfast. I know it's not as good as the stuff you cook though. You feeling better?"

 

Zain sighed, brushing off his weird reflex to catch himself, "I...I don't know. Do you know what happened to me when you left? I...I couldn't...this day has been so horrible." He dropped his head to his chest and sat down.

 

"I have no idea." Yuki said.

 

Orphan slithered around him, "He turned into a monster. Half human, half shadow. Feeding on four girls." Zain switched on the tv and let the news lady report that four teenage girls had gone missing and were found this morning dead. Orphan chuckled, "Slaughtered is more the term she should use." Zain bared his teeth and the small fangs at him, "This isn't funny Orphan! I killed people!"
