Persona - Mask of Origins

The shadow growled incoherently. The only give away that it wasn't Zain was turned from her. On it's back lie six spikes sprouting from it's spine. A stage Zain hadn't reached yet. It crouched low and hissed at her. Red streaked purple eyes searching the room still for those vials.

Cara stood behind Yuki, "Is that really Zain? He's so...scary." she shivered and his eyes fixed on her.

 

"No, that's not him." Yuki said before attacking the shadow.

 

The shadow split into several and they snarled before rampaging through the room. Frantically searching now for the vials. Cara stifled her screams as she backed away from the room.

 

Yuki began taking out the shadows one by one.

 

The last shadow found the vials and let out a triumphant shriek. As suddenly as they'd entered his room, Zain, the real Zain, crashed through his window. He'd heard the shriek and his shadow inside him wanted the vials. "Hands off!"

 

Yuki killed the shadow and took the vial.

 

Zain growled and tried to stifle it back down, "Yuki...you have to give me that vial." he said as calmly as he could manage.

Cara looked at the vial in Yuki's hands, "What is that?

 

"I'm not giving you the vial. I won't have you transforming further."

 

He pulled savagely at his hair, "You don't understand! It's not that I want the damned thing! I need it! This isn't your decision Yuki and it's not mine anymore either."

Cara watched him painfully pulling at his hair and dragged his nails down his face. "I think it's a drug addiction."

 

"Read my lips, Zain. You're not getting this vial and that's final. The only way you're getting it is over my dead body, and that's not happening."

 

His hands quivered, "Then help me... "

 

"I plan on using this to help you. Toji's a science major, and i think he might be able to make an antidote from this."

 

His breath hissed between his teeth as he tried to breath calmly, "I'm gonna have to take up some sort of drug to keep myself from killing this Toji to get that vial. Tell him to hurry, Yuki, I can't do this all the time."

 

"I'll get him to work as fast as he can."

 

Zain walked past her and towards the bathroom. Popping the lid on any medication he could get his hands on and swallowing them down. Cara gave him a worried look and he held back a snarl, "It's only to stifle the urges. Either this or I'd be drinking your blood Cara. Which would you prefer?"

 

Yuki called Toji over and told him to bring his chemistry tools.

 

Zain was becoming snippy as his patience faded. "Oooh, we're going to play scientist with a stranger. Aren't you excited Cara?" He didn't understand why he felt the need to address Cara in everything. Something about her called out to him.

She shrugged and kept her distance from him, "Not really, but if it makes you better..."

 

"Don't make me put you in the cage again, Zain." Yuki said before she went to get the door.

 

Zain hissed at her and peaked down the stairs after her, "Let us see who the lucky doctor is."

Cara smiled and gently placed her hand on his shoulder, he flinched but didn't move away from her.

 

Toji walked in and set his equipment up. He began studying the contents of the vial.

"Can you get me a sample of blood from Zain?"

"Sure, Toji." She said as she took a syringe from him. She went upstairs.

"Hold still, Zain."
