Zain ignored the boy and continued down the street, Orphan squirming his way back around his neck. His thoughts drifted to Cara and how much fear he'd instilled in her. He gripped his lance tighter as they neared the orphanage. Orphan faded out of view, back inside Zain, at the sight of the orphanage. "This is it. Rio, you can still back out. I won't protect you if she does something to you. I'm not here to risk my life for yours. This...is my one selfish act."

Inside the orphanage, Lady Shiv grinned at the return of her experiment, "He always will come back to me." she mumbled to herself.

 

rio gripped his hand titely and lowerd to the floor and then started to cry "this is my fault..."cry over and over then suddenly stops."Okay this is my fualt then i will try" gets upcloses eye a blast as light appers in my hands then changes into a sword."I will fight my mistakes will never be forgaven..."runs into the orpanig "die lad shiv!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

 

The orphanage was silent. Lady Shiv's laughter, cruel and cold, echoed through the empty halls. Her power surged on Rio and flung him back out of the orphanage.

Zain sighed and rubbed his head, "Lady Shiv! I don't suppose you'd let anyone enter that orphanage? I'm calling you out on what you are! You're not human, how long have you been a shadow!? What merciless experiments have you done to the other poor children along with me?!" Her laughter followed by howls of the shadows answered his questions. "I see... Then Lady Shiv, I demand you meet me on my own terms!"

 

"god that hurt"think rio would i just stay here and do nothing no "NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I WILL NOT STAY HERE NO!!!!!!!"run into the orpanig.swing blade at lady shiv and cuts here slightly "NO I WILL KILL YOU LADY SHIV!!!" swings sword over and over

 

Lady Shiv tossed him out of her orphanage again, landing him beside Zain. She appeared in the doorway and smiled sweetly at Zain, "And what are your terms Zain Parenthapaeus?"

Zain kept his growl inside him and gripped Rio's shoulder tight enough to break his bones if he moved again, "A fight to the end. I win, you die. If you win and I'm still alive...I'll go back to the orphanage, I'll..." he grimanced as he spoke, "I'll be yours again."

Her sweet smile cracked and serrated teeth poked from under her lips as she spoke, "Agreed my child. But keep that one out of it. If Rio interferes all terms are off and you lose by forfit. My child, mine, mine, mine!" she sang.

 

rio got up"you know i am alive right?and do not fall into her trap do you now what she will do to you do not do it you will die and that will be brought apon me and i do not care but live do not lose and try!!if you become hers then you will give up think about all the pepole that love you!!ever thought about that???!!! then win try even i will try i would rather die saving you then laying here watching it all come down no"rio started to cry"NO i will try please win if you do not look at all the pepole that will miss you so much so please !!!!!!!!!!

 

Zain glared at Rio, his patience dying, "Dammit kid, get ahold of yourself!" he slapped him hard, "You think I'm just gonna crawl back to her like some yellow-bellied fish? Hell no! I'd rather die than go back to that place, but breaking my word now would mean I'm no better than her. SO SHUT UP!" He let go of Rio, trusting he'd stay there and walked until he was standing in front of Lady Shiv, "I'll kill you anywhere, anytime."

Her malicious laughter rang out as she stroked his cheek with a long fingernail, "You're black blood...do you want to keep how you are if you win?"

He nodded, "I'll find a way to reverse what you've done to me. It's my burden to bear." he opened his mouth to say more but she shoved a needle into his neck and he felt the shadow liquid surge into his bloodstream. His body shaking, he swung his lance at her and she jumped impossibly high onto the orphanage's roof.

 

"fine you do not exapt my help then i will.."runs up zain and swings sword at him with all his mit "never will you do that again i was mad allready okay so you shut up and fight stupid and if you do not i will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!oh and i am not a kid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

 

Orphan's newly purple scaled body blocked the sword from touching Zain, "If you are not a child, then grow up and act like a man! Massster are you...?" Orphan tugged the needle from Zain's neck and dropped it to the ground. "Get up masssster. We mussst end thissss. For Yuki'ssss sssake."

Zain's body convulsed and his shadow traits broke through his illusion spell. Fangs bared and long enough to look worse than a vampire, eyes streaked red and new spines speared from his spine.

 

"stupid you !!!!!!!!!!!!you be the man fight !!!i will do it then!"walks up to lady sihv "you have cuased my friends pain so i will cause you pain!!!!!!!!!!" jumps up so i could slic her i half

Lady Shiv projected a barrier and knocked Rio back down. "Does that mean your terms no longer apply dearest?"

Zain stood, his transformation into a shadow all but complete for now. "Looks like I"m staying a monster. Rio, what the hell do you hear when I say don't go after her. Dolphin clicks? Let me handle this, and if you don't get your emotions under control I'll kill you too." he didn't look at him while he spoke and kept his body in the shadow of the orphanage to hide his new horrifying features from him.

 

Toya was in the garden, staring at the rose bush. He gently picked one and smiled.

 

Zain tossed his lance into the sky and jumped after it, bringing it down before Lady Shiv. "The terms of this fight apply until one of us is dead."

Shiv smiled and created a barrier around the roof of the orphanage, "Then no one leaves and no one enters. Until one of us is dead, as you say." She laughed, "Oh, how your dearest Yuki and Cara will miss you. Don't you think Cara is afraid of your new form?" Her words hit Zain like a bullet, Cara was afraid of me? I...I can't remember. She was so quiet. "No, Cara may have been afraid but she likes me. She stood by me when Toji made that cure. As little as it did it was a good effort. You know nothing!"

 

Yuki stopped in her tracks. She immediately ran to help Zain.

 

Lady Shiv's words continued to hit him and the hard truth behind it all hurt. Zain gripped his lance tightly, "...Shut up...be quiet...none of those things are true!"

She shrugged, "If that's what you want to believe, then believe it." He stood, "I will."

Orphan lurched from his arm and sank his fangs into Lady Shiv's arm. She screamed and Zain sliced the front of her dress.

 

rio looks at lady shiv "lady shiv shut up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!stop saying stupid stuff like that !!!!!!!!!"rio said still in the shadows

 

Zain twirled and kicked her, a part of him felt horrible for kicking a woman but Shiv was no woman. Her form burst apart and revealed her shadow form. Fangs, red eyes, darkened skin, claws and spines. Digging her claws into the roof she kept herself from falling off and Zain brought his lance down on her hand, "Don't you ever use my family against me again. What others think of me...what the world thinks of me...I don't give a damn. The only thing that matters to me is Yuki and Cara's opinons of me. I know in my heart they would never think me a monster even when I look like one."

 

rio cringes as zain said that "hey the boy toya right where is he??"rio asked

 

Zain's attention momentarily moved from Shiv to Rio as he spoke, he growled, "How should I know? Why should I care where Toya is? He's not apart of this!" Shiv lurched up, tearing her hand from under the lance's blade and sliced Zain's face. Long claw marks that bled black blood freely along his cheek. She laughed maniacally and he spun the lance around, digging it into her gut, "I've had enough of you." Letting go of his lance his nails grew and blackened until they resembled Shiv's claws. He blacked out for a minute, when he removed his hand from her chest, covered in her blood, Zain felt weak.

Shiv smiled as she faded away. As Zain pulled back her claws slid out of his chest.

Zain stumbled back, away from her, his lance clattering to the ground as he fell from the roof and landed with a dull thud. Orphan curled around the wound and licked the edges, "Massster Zain? You'll be...alright...I know you will...You can't leave me like thissss!"
