Persona - Mask of Origins

"Z-zain?! It can't be.....What did you do with my brother, monster?!"

 

Zain cringed and looked away for a minute before looking back to her and growling, "Go away, leave here." It was the best he could do. His clawed hands shook as he grappled for the sense of humanity inside him; he noticed more shadows coming toward him from the shadows of the school and franctically tried to get Yuki to leave. "Yuki, I said go! Would you just listen to me for once in your life?!"

 

Yuki slowly backed away and ran.

 

Zain hated yelling at his sister, but he turned to meet the shadows head on. He took his frustration out on them and mearly a few minutes later Eden was prying him away from their bodies. "Zain, let us leave this place, give the vial to Daieko and let us return home." He nodded and hurried to Daieko's house. It was fortified like a prison as always.

 

Yuki sat on the couch, still freaked out from seeing Zain as he was.

 

Daieko didn't seem fazed by how Zain looked. He grinned and took the vial quickly. "No trouble at all?"

Zain growled, his fangs growing longer, "I had plenty of trouble. Why didn't you tell me they flock to the ones you want killed? I nearly had my head taken off. Not to mention scaring my sister." He looked down at his claws and grimaced.

 

Yuki curled up on the couch, trying to put everything she saw out of her mind.

 

Daieko glanced back at him and frowned, "Oh, why do you look like that again? Eden?" he accused the shimmering woman.

Eden frowned and placed her hand on Zain's chest, "It was this or let him die from his own mortality. Being mortal will not help him survive what you need Daieko Deathchild."

Zain felt a pressure build in his chest and his appearance shifted back to normal, except for his eyes, they remained an almost pure blood red. Staring at his changed body, he smiled and noticed the reflection in Eden's slight armor, "My eyes Eden, change them back too. I can't go home looking like this." Eden frowned and touched his face, nothing happened.

Daieko laughed lightly, "You cannot change your eyes back anymore Zain. They will stay like that until you're cured." Zain growled, his red eyes flashing, "I will not go home looking like this. Yuki will be scared out of her mind, if she isn't already!" Daieko simply handed him a pair of reflective sunglasses and pushed him out of his house.

 

Yuki sighed as she sat up.

 

Zain walked slowly home. He dreaded seeing Yuki as he pushed the sunglasses on his face and opened the door, closing it softly. "Uh, Yuki, I'm home." he rasped, his voice felt worn and rugged.

 

Yuki said nothing as she looked at him.

 

Zain cowered into his sunglasses and even though she couldn't tell, he avoided her gaze, "Um, about earlier...I'm sorry you had to see me like that. I don't know what's happening to me." He felt hungry, more so than he had in a long time.

 

"It's alright, just promise me that I won't be seeing you like that very often."

 

Zain nodded quickly and wandered into the kitchen, "You got it Yuki." Gathering up what he could, he ate what was already prepared. His hunger wasn't satisfied after he'd eaten everything in the house, "Hmm, I should make some ribs." His mouth watered at the thought.

 

"Did you have to go and make a pig of yourself, Zain? I guess I have to go to the store tomorrow."

 

Zain swivled his head toward her, his sunglasses slipping a bit so he pushed them back up ont he bridge of his nose. "What on earth are you talking about? I'm just hungry. I guess I must be growing." Turning back to the food he was making he set the sunglasses on his head so he could see better. Catching his reflection in the pan, he noticed the usual thin red strips that were apart of his shadow eyes had widened considerably and nearly dominated the purple. "And I thought my purple eyes were freaky." he mumbled to himself.

 

"Growing?! You ate everything in the pantry and the fridge!"

 

He sighed, "Did I? Well that's odd, I'm not usually this hungry after a fight." he stared at his reflection in the pan and pulled down the skin under his eye, examining it, "You think it could be the change? Making me extra hungry, I mean?"

 

"Probably so." Yuki said as she started making a shopping list.

 

Forgetting about pulling his sunglasses down, he turned to look at her and set his food on the table. Nearly pure red eyes stared at her and he frowned, "Would that mean I've changed beyond repair?"
