Persona - Mask of Origins

Yuki laid awake in bed, worried about Zain.

 

Zain panted as he allowed himself to leave the orphanage. His will wasnt' as strong as it should've been. The shadow in him was a lot stronger. He went to Yuki's home and retrieved his guitar. Playing down the street as he went. Music would always be apart of him. He played Yuki's song as he walked down the street and stopped in front of Toji's house. He'd stay there, playing all night long.

 

Yuki sighed as she listened to the song.

Toji was making breakfast for Yuki.

Yuki yawned as she walked downstairs.

 

Zain sat in the floor of Toji's house. He'd came back inside when daylight hit him. Wearing his sunglasses again, he looked like he was alseep with the paper in his hands.

 

"You look pretty uncomfortable on the floor, Zain." Yuki said.

 

Zain lifted his head, glancing over his sunglasses at her, "Nah, I'm alright." He'd wrapped a white bandage around his head before Yuki got up. "Did you sleep well?"

 

"Take a wild guess." Yuki said before yawning.

 

"Not so good, huh? Well Toji made you breakfast. I figured I should take a vacation just until I stopped bleeding. I wouldn't want to get my messed up blood in your food." He laughed lightly and touched his guitar beside him before flipping a page in the paper.

 

Yuki sat down and ate breakfast.

 

Zain bent back over his paper and dozed briefly while Yuki ate. He'd have to go back to Yuki's to see if what he'd ordered had come yet. Ordering express was a necessary since he was running out of time.

 

Toji went to his lab to get his equipment ready.

 

Zain quickly left, hurrying to Yuki's and found the heavy package sitting on the ground. He felt relieved, quickly snatching it up he felt something cold brush against his back. He turned and stood face to face with Lady Shiv. Her form mangled and what seemed like burnt from the sunlight. He couldn't speak and her clawed hand raked down his cheek. "Betrayer!"

 

Yuki got worried and went out to look for Zain.

 

Zain fell back, his eyes closing tightly, but nothing followed. Opening his eyes he couldnt see Shiv anymore. "Witch!" he touched his cheek, feeling blood there. So the scratches had been real but Shiv was dead, he'd killed her. Zain's fear had temporarily turned his eyes back to normal. The normal he'd been born with, not the purple he considered normal. Bright blue eyes stared in front of him and down the street, looking for Shiv.

 

"Are you alright, Zain?"

 

He panted and looked up at her, his human blue eyes wide with fear, "I'm alright, just a bit of a fright."

 

Yuki looked at him, surprised.

"Your eyes changed color again. They've turned blue now."

 

He panted and lifted himself off the ground, "They're what? Blue...? My eyes haven't been blue in....since I was born. Shiv had a picture of me, at least that's who I thought it was, with blue eyes, but I was a really little boy." As he spoke, he calmed down and his eyes reverted to purple and faded to red again.
