Pet Peeves

Fandoms and their haters.

Both are equally irrational and reactionary. Both are equally liable not to have read, watched, or listened to enough of what they love/hate to have an informed opinion on it. Both are infectious and cause sane, reasonable people on either side to start going at it like howler monkeys. Both are obnoxious as hell.

Also, lip/tongue-smacking noises. I have violent nervous reactions to a couple noises, but none more than those. It makes me want to rip out the person's tongue and lips and make them earn them back by learning how to use their mouth properly.

This drives me UP THE FUCKING WALL.


Especially when somebody makes fan art and says "Tribute to Kingdom of the Hearts".

 

EXACTLY!!! How can you make fan art to something and you dont even say the name correctly!!

People actually say that? the would kill me...

 

I'm guilty of this. I love blasting music on my headphones, though I don't do it to let other people to hear what I'm listening to.

N00btubes: Now, I'm probably one of most mainstream people here. I love playing Call of Duty and such, and I absolutely hate it when people use n00btubes, which are Grenade Launchers.
People asking someone to repeat themselves: I guess this is only certain to one person, but I still hate it when someone says "What?" over and over again. Not referring to the member What?.

 

1. When people use the lord's name in vain. That's insulting someone's religion, and a slap in the face.
2. When people automatically assume that because I'm white, I don't speak Spanish. I took two years and can understand you just fine.
3. When you're going to class at a good pace in the hall and BAM! They're talking to someone and holding up traffic.
4. When people don't know when to shut up.
5. When people stereotype and insult Americans. Whatever happened to the Golden Rule?
6. When people intentionally cuss loud enough for the teacher to hear then say: Nah I said frak or whatever the case may be.
7. The f word. That word doesn't make you sound tough, it makes you sound uneducated, especially when you use it in every single sentence.
8. When people misspell my last name. It can't possibly be that hard to spell.
9. Waking up at 6:30 in the morning for school. What normal person would be awake at that time?
10. When people assume that because I'm female, I hate video games and love makeup.
11. The word special needs. We are completely normal and we are not "special" children.
12. When people call someone ******ed. ******ation is when your IQ is BELOW SEVENTY.
13. When people say that macs don't crash or get viruses. Macs are a MACHINE and they operated by HUMAN BEINGS! Therefore THEY DO CRASH!

 

Yeah. I really despise when people do these kinds of things... It really bothers me... I also hate when people are like I can speak Japanese look!! " Insert steriotypical rant that isn't even close to how beautiful the language really is."

 

I was totally going to ask that! I would have died if i actually bought that and then realized once it came. People need to think!!!

When your weird for not liking the same music others do

Not acting "Black" How in the FUCK am I supposed to act then? I have to curse a lot, say the n-word(I mean I do say the n-word, but the way I say it is white some how.) When I use such intense vocab it becomes a problem and I'm white. So now black people are stupid now and white people can only be smart.

When people yell to someone and they get to close and it gets in your ear.

When I'm told I'm white on the inside. It would be pretty weird if I wasn't I mean my skeletal structure is white so that's a bad thing.

When white, asians, blacks, and spanish people say the n-word. I know I'm hypocrite because I say it. But I shouldn't even be saying it at all. But the n-word is not for black people period, but when you call me that like its my name. I'll mess you up when someone white says it because I'm around to be funny your not hard man stop that. You think cause your spanish you can say that no your wrong not even close. Asians too like why the hell you calling me that like I'm supposed to respond to it like its my name.

When teachers say you can't curse and when you say the N-word its all good. Are you serious if they have to censor it on music then its a curse.

When people act like they repping a set,(gang). Throwing up signs like your something that should be feard. Again you live in Rockland cut that out the closest place to the hood is the city in the "ghetto" if you want to put it that way.

When girls say they want a good guy, but only chill with jerks and abusive people. Like come on seriously don't say any of that if you hang out with the wrong kind of people.

When you have to be a bad boy and a tough guy to even get noticed by a girl(Well in my school anyways.)

 

When a team is better than you in a game and they just mess with you and use you as "practice" and then score the Mercy rule on you the last 5 min into the game... I really hate that so much... It's like we understand you're good just win and don't torture us -.-'

 

Anyone violating my personal space, a space of perhaps two or three feet, is bound to get some dirty looks from me. Dirty? More like, a cold stare. In my experiences they have never quite gotten the hint, and I am left imagining their timely deaths. It is not so much closeness as it is manners, they could be sitting quietly in my near proximity and I wouldn't so much as spark a flare, I would not feel violated, but when they are... leaning over me, jabbering on to the person next to me. Chitchatting so intensely that they don't notice the spit flying out their mouths. Elbows on my desk. It happens so often, you would think they would know some manners. Have some mindfulness of others.

That is my one and only pet peeve, I think, and it is more like a general category that many others fit into. People who haven't any awareness of others, are grossly rude, and are in other words obnoxious manage to tick me off.

 

I agree with everything on that.

The manner things are just.. ugh. -- Some people may do it without actually knowing it, but I just don't favor it.

Also when people check up on me every single minute just to see what I'm doing. My mom does this quite often.

There are quite a few things that annoy me, but there is one in particular. I cannot stand it when people put themselves down FOR NO APPARENT REASON.

If you have a reason to put yourself down, have your five minute pity party. Go for it. But for the love of God if you put yourself down all the time, it makes me so angry. Because at that point you are making me feel guilty, as well as putting yourself down and killing your self confidence for no reason at all. It also puts me in a position where I am expected to baby you every minute of every day, and that does not fly with me. So putting yourself down all the time is seriously one of my biggest pet peeves...ever.

Although I am straight, this bothers me as well. It's offensive to quite a number of people, and I have a number of gay/bi friends and it just frankly gets annoying to hear, especially considering there's a number of synonyms for "stupid" out there. >_>

My brother dear god. I hate eating at the table with him. He talks with his mouth full of food and licks the plate. It's just disgusting to watch.

I can understand some of the members in the fandoms I am in (probably the most prominent being Homestuck) can be quite annoying, and I can be with references at times which I have been pulling back on, but it just irks me to hear people constantly say "bluh bluh homeyuck bluh" when they have not even made a decent effort to get into the story.

I understand it is quite daunting, but there are summaries that do pretty much sum it all up. For those who do make an effort to understand it all, I can accept their opinions on it, but when someone only reads not even a tenth of the first act and denounces it without trying to fill the gaps, I just want to punch them. |:

The same also goes for the people who only read the troll arc just because of the trolls, as well as the people who more or less adopt Hussie as a god.

This. I am black and it is just ridiculous how the culture is more or less expecting you too be the stereotypical basketball/rapper. I like the animes, listen to various indie bands, and like to speak and type grammatically proper and not lik dis niqqa.

The fact that that is somehow becoming the essence of this culture now is...infuriating.

From my experiences though, on both sides of the matter, being perpetually self deprecating is horrible. You will not feel better at all, and furthermore you will burden other people with your problems.

I like to help people, but when consistently expected to baby you like Rosey said, it becomes taxing on both parties, especially when the expected babyer is having their own problems.


Also, to add my own thing, I really really hate people who feel the urge to say something whenever they are being talked to about something, especially when they are wrong. There are some people in my class who argue with the teacher, telling them to hurry up and "teach" when they clearly can't because you won't shut up.

And then when they get in trouble for talking while someone is presenting or speaking to the class, they try t pass it off as if the person speaking/presenting wasn't talking loud enough or being interesting, which is incredibly ****ing rude and ugh. This is actually one of the few things that makes me physically repulsed (and completely ready to yell/hit things).

 

One of my major pet peeves is being interrupted when I'm talking. Mostly when it comes to arguing. If I'm trying to get my side of the argument in, I expect people to let me finish what I'm saying then they can say what they want and I'll respect what they have to say by being quiet. Usually I can bear with a few interruptions. I know some people just have to let some things out. But after pressing that berserk button too many times, I will flip out and yell "SHUT UP!".

 

This forever. And this is part of the reason I was so angry in high school. [The other part was I was having genuine emotional issues, the sort of which I needed medication to balance.] The majority of my classmates were obnoxious and they were doing it for the sole purpose of getting a rise out of the teacher. I just wanted to say 'Shut the **** up and let the teacher do their job'. But I was too busy trying to get my own aggression under control. A few of us spoke out but we were usually laughed at or harassed for defending the teacher. And the one instance of a fight I got into, the teacher ultimately agreed that the guy I punched in the face deserved the bloody nose I gave him.

And not letting students speak during presentations? It's just rude. I can remember this girl who was incredibly shy and she spoke quietly who was doing a presentation. It was a combination of her shyness and a fear of public speaking. A few of the more obnoxious classmates kept yelling at her to speak up. At that I replied, 'Maybe she doesn't need to speak louder, maybe you just need to listen harder.' How hard is it to just shut your mouth and listen when someone is talking to you? I just don't understand.

Which leads me to add:

Immaturity It gets on my nerves so easily. My niece is just about 3 years old. So when she throws a tantrum, it's okay for her because she's still learning how she should act in public. When a teenager throws a tantrum because Mom said they can't have something? Not so okay. I can think of an instance where I was at the pet store looking for plants for my fish tank and this sixteen[about] year old girl threw a tantrum in the store because her mom wouldn't let her get a parrot. [Which the species she was looking at requires a lot of attention and care, I didn't blame her mother one bit.]

People who buy trend pets/pets they do not know how to care for This is such a terrible practice. I can remember when the live action 101 Dalmatians came out, everyone just had to have a dalmatian puppy. Not researching beforehand that this breed in question tends to get large and are quite hyperactive. Another example were people in the UK getting Snowy Owls[illegally, they're endangered] after the HP books/movies came out as pets. Now those same owls, who were imprinted on humans, have to live in sanctuaries and rehabilitation centers. And these teacup puppies these girls carry around in bags, I just don't understand. Why get an animal that requires care and attention just because some airhead heiress has one? Shouldn't you be getting a pet because you want one?

Added to that, there was this kid on another forum where a lot of reptile owners/lovers frequent. This kid said that he wanted a bearded dragon. One poster asked him if he had done any research on the subject and he said no. Nevermind they need a heat lamp, a tank, water, insects to eat, and the like but they aren't exactly fish level in terms of care. [And even my betta required me to do some research on the subject when he developed popeye. Epsom salt. Who knew?]
