Philosophy... It's like mathematics gone wrong in my opinion.

That opinion was not based in mathematics (by nature of being an opinion), and is therefore faulty.

Your statement appears to be a contradiction.

    Mathematics doesn't have opinions. I'm a Math major, I'd know. >>

Exactly. If you could explain how philosophy imitates math or how it uses it badly, it would be appreciated.

If philosophy is mathematics then it is mathematics done poorly. By definition of the conditional statement, since the antecedent is false the conditional is true.

That was simple. Of course, a lot of BS like that can be pulled in math and I know it's impossible to turn an opinion into some sort of mathematical fact without pulling that kind of trick.

EDIT: Probably would've been wittier to use the null hypothesis.

It is an unexplained statement. You have made it, but I have no reason to accept the conditional.

Next I suppose you are going to say that math and quantum physics are incompatible concepts.

Some things are better left unsaid. Opinions don't need to be proved.

*Cough* I forgot to mention that I'm a math and physics major. They're two sides of one coin...if said coin was nearly indistinguishable on both sides.

They do if they include math.

I already knew that from the last time we talked about physics. You have stated that philosophy is math done badly, but I find it math applied infinitely to the consciousness, calculating probabilities and determining what is and is not possible. Or perhaps I should say logic, as math and logic may not be the same according to a major.

    Contradictions are delicioussss

Feed me your paradoxes, your ass-backwardses, your what the fucks; I shall become a duke of duality, a patron saint of of perplexing statements

I AM THE GOD AND THE DOG

Leaving your basis for opinion unsaid tends to make you come off as rash and opinionated. Opinions can't be proved, but they ought to be rationalized... or at least justified.

They are not. Mathematics doesn't exist in reality, only theory. Sciences need to be based in reality, thus they are faulty. Mathematics is never faulty. Reality is.

It is no wonder philosophers for the past centuries have been questioning what reality is.

Grammar also doesn't exist in reality?

Allow me to paraphrase Ludwig von Mises:

Furthermore, all things made by men are made for a purpose, and the only standard by which a man-made thing can be judged is according to how well it fulfills the purpose for which it was made. … All [mathematical] rules and human laws are means for the realization of definite ends. There is no method available for the appreciation of their goodness or badness other than to scrutinize their usefulness for the attainment of the ends chosen and aimed at.

In this case, we are using mathematics as a tool to define reality. If it does not do its job properly, then it is faulty, and we need a new tool to take its place.

Psh, fine. I'll concede your point.

    Concede that your point sucks...

    Don't feel like it :V

    Nope

Mathematics can be singular or plural because despite taking the form of a plural it is not referring explicitly to a group of mathematics but implicitly to a blanket term grouping a number of practices and sciences known as the mathematics
