Yet another new trailer was uploaded today. This trailer reveals the existence of Galarian forms, showing off Galarian Weezing (Poison/Fairy), and Galarian Zigzagoon's line (Normal/Dark).
In an unexpected twist, Galarian Linoone can evolve further into Obstagoon, which serves as a return to earlier Pokémon receiving new evolutions, but with a unique take. Whether a Hoenn Obstagoon can exist or not is unclear, but so far it seems to implied that this is exclusive to the Galarian form.

In additon, another brand new Pokémon was shown -- Morpeko, which appears to be the resident Pikachu clone for the Galar region. It's Electric/Dark type, and will change its form every turn, which changes its signature move Aura Wheel between Electric and Dark.

The trailer also shows two new rivals; Bede and Marnie - the latter of which's fans will serve as the antagonist team of the story. Whether they're true antagonists or deflecting attention from the real villains like Team Skull has yet to be seen.

I love the little ball of rage that Morpeko is, and I'm a big fan of the return of regional forms—especially now that they go beyond Kanto-original Pokémon! And especially that they can have further evolutions! The official Pokémon Twitter has already hinted that Obstagoon won't be the only one, so it's really exciting to imagine the possibilities!

Long as we don't get more heavy metal references, I'm good. I saw the Weezing one and first thought they added a smoke stack instead of setting a top hat.
Morpeko reminds me too much of Dedene though.

In the latest Nintendo Direct, we learned about character customization, the new Pokémon Camp feature, and two new Pokémon—the Ghost-type Polteageist, and the Flying/Water-type Cramorant!

Today, the official Pokémon site added a glitched page for a new Fighting-type Pokémon. Any guesses what it is?

Rotate the image ninety degrees and you get this:

    farfetchd evo maybe.jpg

It looks rather like a bird holding a sword and a shield...and they both look like they may be made of plants. Perhaps this is a Galarian form or evolution of Farfetch'd!

I already commented on discord about my feeling toward these 2 new pokemon when the video came out last week, but I've gotta say it on here too. There's always a handful of new pokemon that just don't look right and don't even feel like pokemon, and that Polteageist is one of gen 8's, and I hate the pun.

I'm also calling it right now, PETA and other types are going to have a field day with Cramorant and it's ability. I'm thinking it'll still end up being a UU or RU pokemon though.

Also, that glitched page better not have any sort of Farfetch'd. That was one of the dumbest things they came up with back in Gen 1. Personally I think it looks like some kind of rabbit looking at it normally. Though a rabbit being a fighting type isn't exactly new in Pokemon.

Nobody said it so I'll do it.

On Wednesday another new Pokémon was revealed, this time being Sirfetch'd, the evolved form of Farfetch'd.

In what is an usual case, Sirfetch'd loses both of its types and becomes a pure Fighting-type Pokémon on evolution.
Sirfetch'd is exclusive to Pokémon Sword, but it is unknown if Farfetch'd can evolve if traded to Pokémon Shield at this time, or what its counterpart, if any, will be.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are the subject of this month's Game Informer feature, and we've learned several tidbits about the game from them:
    • The games will feature eighteen gyms divided between a Minor League and a Major League. Gyms in one League in one version may be in another League in the other; for example, Bea's Fighting-type Gym is in Sword's Major League and Shield's Minor League, and Allister's Ghost-type Gym is in Shield's Major League and Sword's Minor League. This helps to give the in-universe impression that Gyms can change Leagues from year to year. EDIT: Game Informer has issued a correction—the games will feature a similar number of Gyms to previous entries to battle against. In the lore, however, eighteen Gyms do exist in the Galar League.
    • The games will have an autosave function, which can be turned off at the player's discretion.
    • HMs will not be returning.
    • The Exp. Share item will not be returning; its effect is automatic instead.
    • Max Raid Battles will have a wide spread of difficulties.
    • The developers are hinting at new mechanics to allow you to more effectively use your favorite Pokémon in competitive battling.
Stay tuned for more coverage from Game Informer throughout the month!

In the 24-hour livestream several Pokémon were confirmed to be appearing in the Galar region for the first time. In addition there was another appearance by Impidimp, the Dark/Fairy Pokémon shown in the demo previously, significant because of a lack of an official reveal as of yet.

The big reveal of the livestream was a new Pokémon, which appears to be a Galarian form of Ponyta. The Pokémon made many small appearances over the course of the stream, only being seen unobstructed near the end. It is currently not known what typing it is, but as every other Pokémon in the stream was at least part Fairy-type, Fairy would be a reasonable assumption.

A short new trailer, a famitsu article, and a page on the official Sword and Shield website have all been released, confirming the Pokémon as Galarian Ponyta, a Shield-exclusive Psychich-type Pokémon.
Interestingly its category has changed from Fire Horse Pokémon to Unique Horn Pokémon.
Its Abilities are Run Away and a new one called Pastel Veil that prevents itself and allies from being Poisoned.

Another new trailer released today, focusing on the Gigantamax mechanic of the games. These trailers showed off several new Gigantamax form Pokémon, including Pikachu and Eevee, which can be obtained by using play records from Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee respectively.

    Toby Fox, the developer behind Undertale, revealed today on his twitter that a music track composed by him is in Sword and Shield. It's unknown where said track may play, but a preview of it was released by the Pokémon Secret Club, which can be heard here;

Announced in today's Pokémon Direct, Sword and Shield will be receiving two paid DLC expansions—The Isle of Armor, releasing in June 2020, and The Crown Tundra, releasing in Fall 2020. These expansions are being released as an alternative to expanded versions of past generations, such as Platinum or Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, and will allow you to explore the new content while retaining your save file.

The Isle of Armor will see you training on the titular island with Mustard, a former champion himself and Leon's former mentor, who leads a dojo there. Training alongside you will be Poison-type trainer Klara in Sword, and Psychic-tpye trainer Avery in Shield. During your training, Mustard will entrust you with the new Fighting-type legendary Pokémon Kubfu, who can evolve into a Fighting/Dark or a Fighting/Water variant of Urshifu (who can also Gigantamax). The expansion will also offer new Move Tutors, Apricorn Poké Balls, and an Exp. Charm item that will boost the experience points your team earns.

The Crown Tundra will have you leading an exploration team into the titular tundra. This pack will offer a new co-op mode, allowing you to explore underground Pokémon dens with friends to catch previously unavailable Pokémon, including legendaries from past generations. A new Psychic/Grass-type legendary, Calyrex, will also feature in the expansion's plot.

The DLC will also offer new Gigantamax forms for Venusaur, Blastoise, Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon. New Galarian forms of Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, and two new legendaries related to the Regi family will appear as well. A new Psychic-type Galarian form of Slowpoke can be caught in a content update available today; it can evolve into Galarian forms of Slowbro and Slowking, but the items necessary for its evolution can only be obtained in the expansion packs (The Isle of Armor for Slowbro, and The Crown Tundra for Slowking). In all, the packs together will add over 200 existing Pokémon to the games, and players who don't buy the packs will still be able to obtain them through trading and Pokémon Home. Both packs will also feature new Wild Area-style locations to explore, and will offer new clothing, hair, and bike styles.

The two expansions together will cost $30 USD, and are available now for pre-purchase.
