Could you explain exactly what you're refering to? That doesn't seem to make a lot of sense in the current topic.

I was referring to the posts made about the sword Pokemon being possessed by a human spirit. We already had a "possessed" pokemon and worse it was just a stone.

Right. That makes more sense, though... I don't really see anyone in the last page having complained about the subject. I like Honedge. It's a cool concept. I doubt I'll use one, despite loving the Ghost type, but still.

They kind of have to be. It's TV, so it has to be active. Watching things take turns to whack each other isn't terribly exciting in own right. And, they have to sell it. The more excited they act, the more people will want it.

It's practically a staple for the pokemon show to have people be obnoxious when they play the upcoming games anyways.

Apparently, there's going to be new items introduced that, when held, induce a "Mega Form" of the Pokemon holding it, NOT AN EVOLUTION. Link to article.

Also, three new Pokemon, one being a prior evolution to Gogoat.

And I'm thinking this girl is a new Gym Leader or something.

    DAT LUCARIO AND BLAZEKIN YOOOOOO
and that Amphsros looks ****ing majestic

That explains the new Mewtwo form then. The new boosts they get are killer (MegaAmpharos is half dragon holy cow). This reminds me of Digimon mega forms but it looks like its gonna be great.

I have to say that I'm loving the concept of Mega Evolutions (which is what I've seen them called, so that's just the name I'm going to use), and while I don't quite understand the point of having one for Ampharos, Mewtwo or Blaziken (despite the fact that Blaziken is my baby -w-), Absol and Mawile really needed to be taken one step further. Lucario's looks cool but I'm pretty neutral about it.
The new Pokemon look pretty cute -- though the mouse makes me think of a cross between Pachirisu and Raichu -- and the girl is a new gym leader named Coruni who teaches you how to use Mega Evolutions. Source.

So It is just like giratina as I said before.. While I don't mind all their digimon aspect... I don't think Mewtwo should have a new form, as he is LENGENDARY..., and yet it was a Legendary that first showed a different form.

If we're going to compare this to other things GameFreak has pulled in the past with legendaries, let's not forget Deoxys and its four distinct forms: normal, speed, attack and defense. Giratina didn't do it first at all, but more importantly, Giratina's canonical "original" form versus its appearance in Diamond and Pearl didn't have much of an impact on its stats, save for a slight shift between Special Attack and Speed. And apart from that, Giratina's form varies depending solely on where it is (Origin Form can only be used in the Reverse World and it's in its Altered Form the rest of the time) as opposed to Deoxys, which can change forms under certain conditions (in Diamond and Pearl, at least, there are four rocks in a certain city, and if you touch one with Deoxys in your party, it'll change its form depending on the rock). What they're doing in this game will completely change the Pokémon in the middle of battle, as opposed to permanently depending on your location or certain events, and I feel like it'll be a whole new element to their tried and true formula. Plus, Mewtwo was a first gen legendary, and there's no shame in bringing new life to a face we all know and love.

Okay, I'm done with my fangirl rant now.

Basically this. And let's not forget Mewtwo is the Genetic Pokémon, X and Y is the chromosome generation of Pokémon (it's listed as that on Bulbapedia), so it was a good way to advertise something new.

    New video

You only get to use their Mega Forms in battle, and it'll probably activate by holding a specific item. I think that balances out the possible buffs you get: trade-off the benefits of other items (say, Choice Scarf/Band/Specs, Leftovers, Focus Sash, etc.) for a new Ability, Stat boosts, or even Type change in Ampharos' case.

I WANT A MEGA FLYGON. HE'S SO UNDERRATED.

If i'm viewing that trailer right they'll have to hold a Mega Stone in battle.

I don't see how this is even viable, like, every Pokémon is getting a mega version? I'd be good with this if it affected Pokémon that didn't have an evolution, but it seems like what's the point in upgrading really powerful Pokémon to be even more powerful ones?

That is EXACTLY what I thought when I read it on serebii too. I could have sworn they were using something from Digimon, or giving pokemon a 4th evolution. That would have just been weird to me. I'm just glad that they're only making them for battle use. It will certainly make the online battles a little more interesting.

And I would have to agree, the blaziken and lucario look awesome, but I'm more for the lucario, but that might just be because Lucario is one of my favorite pokemon.

It's not guaranteed that the Mega forms will be the very best versions of the Pokemon though. We don't know what stats will be affected, if any, just that some Pokemon change their abilities or types.

One thread on GameFAQs even explained that, with the info we have so far, Lucario holding a Life Orb is stronger in some ways than Mega Lucario (who has Adaptability: 2x STAB moves rather than 1.5x)

Sounds a lot like the training in Digimon World, which for that game, is a lot faster than battles/

so mega stones were given to some pokemon n not all of them? well that's suck. i get that the new pokemons would not have their own mega evolution, but they should make all the old pokemon have a mega evolution; it would be cool if gabite(my favorite pokemon) gets a mega evolution and become a badass.

Well they're not evolutions, and seeing as the video said you get MegaBlaziken when raising a Torchic with a Mega Stone, I can safely say that only Fully-Evolved Pokémon will likely get Mega Forms, meaning Gabite won't get one, but Garchomp will.
