So instead of selling my old PSP just to save up to buy a new one, I've been thinking about buying a new housing unit on eBay for about $20. I've never done this before. Is this something that is incredibly hard and should not even be attampted, or is it something that with proper reserach and an appropriate amount of tutorial-watching could be done? I modded my ps2 with relatively no difficulty (though there was nothing difficult about it to begin with), so I have a tiny bit of expierence with that, but I read that to do a complete faceplate, backplate, etc, swap would require you to completely dissamsemble the "guts" of the PSP, and would then require you to completely re-assemble it from scratch. Though as I said, Ive never done this before, so I wouldn't know if it was the same way when replacing the housing for 1000 and 2000, which was apparently significantly easier. The main reason I would want to switch the housing would be to replace the memory card cover, as well as remove the dust from under the screen. There are also some other nicks on it that would benefit from being replaced as long as the main issues, dust and broken memory card cover are being replaced. The more I think about it, the more I cant really justify paying $80+ just to do away with these slight imperfections on it, but I figured if i didnt buy a new one I would still be taking it apart to remove the dust and old card cover, and as long as I'm taking it apart I might as well replace the entire housing unit to fix everything, so long as it's not extremely difficult. I also did a little looking around for replacement parts for the memory card cover, and I haven't been able to find where you can buy that individually, but if I could, I may be able to tolerate the other issues it has, as long as the dust and memory card cover could both be replaced by only removing the faceplate. From what I gather, when replacing the housing on a 3000, the only difficulty comes in the backplate. I'm not sure if this should go in the tech section, but if it should sorry.
