Roadtrip

"I'm sure you can guess what happened next." Emily couldn't help but blush a bit after she said that. "And I hadn't been drinking 'cause my parents were home that weekend. You know I get way too giggly when I drink." Emily laughed nervously. "Let's get out of this bathroom. It smells bad in here, and I want to buy a drink. My mouth tastes really bad." Emily swiftly walked out of the bathroom before Scott asked any more questions, went to the McDonalds counter and bought a Hazelnut iced coffee. If there was anything she loved to drink, it was coffee.

 

Alyssa followed Emily out of the bathroom. She figured it was probably best to leave the two guys alone, so they could think things over. And a drink sounded good to her as well.

 

Kipp felt a bit weird standing in the woman's restroom, exitting silently, hoping Scott would follow. He didn't need a drink, he needed a cigarette. He went towards the SUV parked in the parking lot, leaning against the back door. He suddenly felt sleepy, he figured he'd take a nap in the car.

Ainsley hummed along with her radio as she drove along the road. She laughed as she bounced along. "And they said my baby wouldn't make it out of town!" she said, patting her VW bus's dashboard. No sooner had she said that, smoke started pouring out from the engine. "What?! No!!" The bus sputtered, then died. She huffed. "Damn..." she said, quickly grabbing her bag while getting out of the bus and coughing. She sighed as she looked at her now-deceased bus. "Damn..." she repeated. She noticed a McDonald's up ahead. "Well...I am hungry, and maybe someone can give me a lift." She smiled, then hoisted her bag on her shoulder and walked up to the fast-food joint.

 

Emily glanced in Scott's direction. She ran up to him. "Wait. You know..." Emily blushed bright red. "If I wanted to push you off of me... I would have. You're my bestest-estest friend." She hugged him. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you about it sooner. I understand if you're upset at me." She looked down at the ground. " I just hope you can forgive me eventually..." She walked out towards Scott's SUV, and found the door was still unlocked, so she got in.

 

Ainsley walked up to the door, and looked in surprise as an argument--or maybe only a discussion?--was taking place in the McDonald's between a boy and a girl. She watched in surprise as the girl headed to an SUV. "Well, damn," she murmured as she watched the girl go. "Not every night you see that in a Mickey D's." She glanced curiously at the boy as she walked through the doors, then walked up to the counter to order.

 

Kipp watched the two converse while also seeing another girl walk in with his periffial vision. He stood back, noticing that the car doors were still open, making him feel like a dumbass.
He opened the door, sitting in the SUV, almost going to shift through his bag for a cigarette. Maybe later... he thought, pushing it away.

 

After finishing her meal, Ainsley sighed and hoisted her dufflebag onto her shoulder, then walked out of the parking lot. While I've heard a lot of awful stories about hitchhiking, it looks like I've got nothing to lose... she thought to herself, sticking out her thumb in typical hitchhiker fasion. And, who knows? Maybe it'll be more exciting this way.

 

Emily leaned her face against the window. The cold glass felt good on her cheek. She couldn't look at Scott. She was ashamed of herself. She couldn't believe she didn't tell him right away. I don't want to lose him. She squeezed her eyes shut, holding back tears. Scott was her best friend. She'd known him since Kindergarden, and she loved him. She loved him so much, and the last thing she wanted was to trouble him with things that she could have prevented. God. I am so stupid, stupid, stupid- "Hey, there's a hitchhiker. We should pick her up."

 

Kipp looked up as Emily said something, and scooted over for the hitchhiker to get in. He was closer to Alyssa, nervous that she might not like him so close to her.

 

Emily glanced over at Scott, then looked away quickly when she saw him looking at her. She turned around in her seat and looked at their new edition. "Hello. I'm Emily. I'm pregnant. What's your name?" She smiled at the girl. "Okay... that was weird. Haha." Emily turned back around in her seat and sat straight. Okay... Now I'm being weird. I can't talk to someone new. Now I look like a weirdo. Scott hates me. I can't believe I did that to him. She sighed. Life was definately getting strange.

 

Alyssa noticed how close she now was to Kipp, she figured she shouldn't make a big deal out of it. Besides, it would now be easier to hurt him if he did anything stupid, like smoke in the car. She looked over at the new edition into the car. "Hi, I'm Alyssa, you can call me Aly if you want. I'm probably the most normal peson in this car believe it or not." She said smiling. "So, what's your name?"

 

"Hullo everyone!" Ainsley said brightly. "I'm Ainsley. Thank you all for letting me get a ride and for hopefully not being rapists and/or serial killers." She got into the van, grinning as she tucked her hair behind her ear. "So, where's your destination? Vegas? D.C.? Hollywood?"

Emily looked down guiltily. "I'm still down for California." She whispered. She wondered if Scott would talk to her later. Is he even mad at me? Or is he just tired? Does he hate me? I wonder if he... no. No, I can't even think about that. Stupid Emily. Stupid stupid stupid. She stopped as she realized she was insulting herself. Maybe I should ask. No. I can't do that. I have to let him talk to me first, or else I'll just look pathetic. Yay...
