To be honest, I'm running out of ideas KHV. I just posted a new video on the front page, but I should kiss my Ven/Roxas voice good bye and stop making videos, because I feel like I'm loosing the interest from others. I guess its becoming a bit old...to say the least? I've also been imitating Ven/Roxas' voice since 2007. My intentions were that I would somewhat advance? Guess dreams are way harder to achieve? Come on Square...find me! - End of rant. Sigh
We should send a letter to Square telling about Mike. >=L I'm not loosing the interest in fan Voice Acting, I just log in morning today to post about the video you made, and I was in hurry but insisted in watch and post anyway. You enjoy doing Ven/Roxas's Voice, don't you? Keep doing, you still have fans. ::L:
I guess I just feel if I can't make a career out of it, then what? I feel like I'm stuck. I know a lot of people feel the same way for voicing, but I've really put myself out there. It's like how much more can somebody do? Let's face it...I wouldn't be what I am if it wasn't for this character. I can't really sound like a bunch of other characters.
You're putting yourself down. If you want to be a voice actor, then keep up going. You're Mike and isn't any KH character that makes you, why do you say that you wouldn't be you without the character?
Mike, like I said before if it wasn't for you I would have probably never pursued voice acting as a hobby. To see you say this is the equivalent to seeing a hero give up personally. Ok I'll admit it you are my voice acting hero, whenever I land a role in a voice acting project I instantly do a mental thank you to you and one other person. Now as for going further/making a career out of this I'm not really sure how to do that. I would think it requires a lot of skill and also a very great amount of luck. Maybe you should try thinking in a broader scope, instead of the specific voice acting. What I mean is instead of trying to make a career out of voice acting, try making a career of acting in general. There are many other forms: Theater, TV, Movies, etc. and when you make a name for yourself you can specify it back to voice acting again. Some voice actors actually started out doing acting in general then moved on to strictly voice acting.
Shouldn't you try and expand your voice acting? If you stick to the same characters over and over you'll not get too much notice. Expand on your voice acting and send it out to agencies and work (dunno how you go about it).
Voice acting is exactly that...acting. You have to expand your range and create characters. How do you think these characters of kingdom hearts were made? Someone had to come up with it from scratch. Imitation is wonderful too but thats not what's going to get an agency, like for example Funimation's, attention. don't put yourself down...you have to stick with it. You gotta give it your all because that's when others will start to notice your talent. Never do anything half-hearted and have confidence, believe in your self, trust me it will happen. It will all work out...you're still young and new and everyone has to start from the very beginning and move forward to become someone of high status and respect. =)
If you are really this interested in advancing, then I think you've got to produce some more videos! The stuff you put out that's original, like the recent Xehanort / Ven video is perfect for using the voice in a completely new and interesting way; this way, you'll never get stale! As for Square Enix finding you, ... that's probably not the best way to go about it. Production companies won't scout you out, unless you're a pretty famous actor. You might need to look for an agent, or email a portfolio to talent agencies, even Funimation. I don't think Jesse McCartney will be leaving Kingdom Hearts anytime soon, but neither is Haley Joel Osment or David Gallagher, so your Roxas/Ven pursuit will (unfortunately) forever be fan dub. But, we're all in the same bout with ya. Being able to dub a Kingdom Hearts video even before the true English voice actors start recording gives me such excitement, does it not? And in that sense, getting anywhere from 1,000 - 30,000+ views for a fan dub is a pretty big achievement, and a dream I'm glad to say has been realized, for you, me, everyone involved in your videos. In conclusion, if you feel stale, take everyone's advice, try out some new characters. Do some more TWEWY videos! Maybe Young Justice! Even star up you Mickey voice again! You're in college, and these aren't the years to worry about getting your dream job right away. Cherish this time and in a few years, you'll be out of school and in your field doing what you love. But, please don't give this up, because there's no one who can replace you Mike. Really ...
You know what you need to do? You need to get in on an Abridged series. Make yourself known to the Voice Acting Alliance, you're bound to get picked up for something.
Does this have something to do with what I said last night? Why do I keep shattering dreams and hope?!? If anything like greater_bloo said if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have pursued voice acting as a hobby ether. You were the one who gave me that push to do it and entertain people. Don't quit and leave us or me for that matter!
