Running Shadows: Rebellion in Numenor

The messenger nodded at the boy, glad that he could think of accepting the princess' terms; he himself was very doubtful of the situation.

"Very good," he said, eager to leave as quickly as possible; the sun would be up soon and the princess had been very firm about delivering the message and returning with a reply as soon as possible. "I will take your reply to Princess Goldwin, and when you return to the city, word will have spread throughout the hunters not to harm you... I'm sure she would like to speak with you when you do arrive."

Goldwin got out of bed when the sky was dark; she couldn't sleep anymore, and any rest she had gotten was uneven and stressful. She sat at her desk, knees drawn up to her chin, staring out at the horizon, waiting for the sun to come up.

 

OOC: Random Angel seems to be busy or unable to post so i'm going to continue without her. hopefully she'll jump back in soon ^^

BIC: After walking back along the path for quite awhile, the sun had begun to set. Pantalimon looked up and judged the time as well as the land around them, gauging where would be a good place to stop for the night. They weren't going to make it back to the city by night fall and she knew how dangerous unknown lands could be at night. As her eyes fell back on the path she saw the creature who'd nearly run them over running ahead. It must have slowed down a bit for us to catch up! she thought, perking up slightly. She tugged at Alice's sleeve, hoping she'd follow, before taking off at a run to catch up to the creature.

 

ooc - my apologies. Either been having family issues or been sick. Is all good now.

When Alice looked towards Pan the girl was already running off. She didn't hesitate to wonder nor ask why, just got up and went after her. It must of been the creature Pan saw and if so they had no time to waste. Alice caught up to Pan and started to scan the area while still in motion.

 

OOC: yay! glad to see u back ^^ i'm sorry u had illness and family problems, those are no fun. (sorry for the non-post\'ooc spam'. no real post that's worth writing atm, but i wanted to say hi! to random angel)

 

"Thank you for coming all this way," Atreyu said to the messenger kindly. "I'll be sure to get back to Numenor as quickly as I can." He gave the messenger a quick, respectful nod and then climbed back up to Keiran before the Dragon could change his mind about having the man for a snack. Atreyu wasn't sure if Keiran had ever eaten a human before, and he didn't want to find out.

 

OOC: hooooo boy... lol that lady took forever to post! xD

BIC: Goldwin finally got up and dressed when she couldn't stand just sitting anymore. She made her way out to the salle to practice, desperate to do something despite the early hour to take her mind off the problems she would soon have to face. She was halfway there when she felt someone behind her and turned.

"Good morning, mi'lady," Trys said with a smile. "I hope I didn't startle you."

"You'd have to try harder," Goldwin replied with a yawn. "Let's get something done before it gets too hot, ok?"

Gabriel shook himself awake, blinking several times before he noticed where they were. A smirk rose on his face when he could see Numenor Castle in front of him, not half an hour away.

"Perfect," he muttered to himself. "Once I get there, it should be easy to find the stupid princess."

BIC: "It's alright, Keiran. He's leaving," Atreyu put his hand on Keiran's nose and pushed him back into the cave. "We've got a lot to talk about, buddy." In response, Keiran laid down to get ready for the lecture. The Dragon had a feeling it was going to be about what the other human had said. Atreyu sat next to Keiran and picked up one of the firewood sticks. He dragged it across the floor of the cave, creating a map of Numenor.
"This is where I live," Atreyu began. Then he drew some trees just south of the border. "That's where you live. We can't see each other because you're not allowed in my home. The Hunters would kill you on sight. We're friends. We trust each other."
Keiran lowered his nose and sniffed the drawing that Atreyu had made. He did trust Atreyu. And only Atreyu. Keiran moved his head to Atreyu's bag and pulled out a piece of meat with his tongue and teeth.
"So I need you to really trust me, and all the other humans. You can come and live with me in my home, and not be hurt by any of the Hunters."
Keiran swallowed the meat and turned his head to look Atreyu in the eyes. Their faces were nearly touching in the small space of the cave.
"But there's a catch. I'm okay with it, but I want you to be too. Lady Goldwin said that we'd have to join their armed forces and fight for them. I know how you feel about humans. And I know you probably don't want to do anything to help them after they've done so much wrong to your kind. But you'll be safe. I promise you that."
Keiran blew a huff of air through his nose. He didn't like the idea at all. The Dragon stood and shook himself. He walked out, stretched his wings, and then looked back at Atreyu. His eyes said, "Well come on. Don't give me time to change my mind."
"Thanks, Keiran," Atreyu smiled. He ran outside and hopped onto Keiran's back. Numenor was waiting, along with Lady Goldwin.

 

By the time the sun was a normal height in the sky and everyone was out of bed, had their shops open, and were beginning their day, Goldwin and Trys had been at it for almost two hours. Trying to clear her mind, Goldwin refused to stop or let up her attack. Trys, as always, met her blow for blow.

Gabriel slowed to a stop after what seemed like an eternity, even though his ride was relatively short; the toll of holding himself up and on the spectral horse at such a speed for the entire day and night made his arms and legs feel like lead when he sat up. He groaned, rotating his arms in circles and cracking his neck.

He reached the main road going into Numenor, and decided he should walk from this point on; anyone seeing the beast now was the opposite of the kind of attention he wanted. If anyone asked, he'd walked or hitched rides with traders up from the south for the past week.

 

Upon seeing the man enter the town, the one they saw on the road moments ago, Alice ducked into an alley. It was best to stay unseen, at least until he made a move. Luckily for them he looked tired so they could mostly go undected, she thought, and they could check into the same inn as he did, if he did so. So far things seems easy and they would be off before they knew it.

 

Pantalimon walked right past the alley Alice disapeared down before realizing she was alone. She walked backwards to the alley and raised an eyebrow at her travling companion. "Um, what are you doing?" she asked.
"Necromancer... in our town... should kill him." a man's voice growled in her right ear. Pan, already knowing there would be no one there, flicked her eyes to the right and was greeted with empty space and aggrivation before her eyes fell on Alice again.

 

Goldwin finally lowered her blade, bending over with her hands on her knees, breathing heavily. "Again," she gasped.

But Trys shook his head. "No, mi'lady," he said. "You need to rest... I'll go up to the castle and get you some water."

Goldwin nodded and sat at the base of a post in the salle, too tired to argue. The room became silent and, despite her efforts to exhaust all her emotion in the last few brutal hours, she still put her head in her hands and tears came to her eyes.

Gabriel walked through the main town, not making eye contact with anyone he saw; there was a decent amount of people out now that the sun was up, and he found that every here was still minding their own business. He made his way up the path to the castle, glancing over at the practice salle. Impressive, he thought, looking at the size of the building. The way they talk about this place one would think they didn't have any military-like training facilities, but I'd like to see the inside of that... from the stories, the princess is said to spend lots of time in there... who knows why... He chuckled to himself and made his way off the main path toward the practice building.

 

Atreyu lowered hismself and clung to Keiran's neck. He knew Keiran was going to fly quickly and Atreyu didn't want to fall off again. His leg was still sore from the last time. He hadn't paid much attention to his leg on this moutain, but now that he was thinking about it, it was hurting. Maybe climbing up and down that rocky side wasn't such a good idea.
Atreyu adjusted himself to make sure he was secure and then Keiran took off. Atreyu was still amazed by how such a large creature could propel itself into their air with one might push of its wings. He kept his thoughts on how Keiran was flying rather than how fast they were going or how high up they were.

 

Pantalimon shook her head. "Alice, he's going to the castle. We'll lose him and get thrown out again." she said, already turning to follow him. She knew Alice would catch up soon so she set herself at a light jog through the crowd. As she began to catch up, she realized she had nothing to say to this guy she was tailing. Too busy thinking over exactly how to phrase "you made my voices go away" into a regular conversation, she ran into his back.

OOC: Am I the only one who's super P.O.ed about this? We had done so much!! ><

 

OOC: yeaah, i agree. this is annoying. so should we pick up where we left off, by memory?

OOC: Holy **** everything IS messed up lol That's my welcome back line for myself. Anyway, thank you guys for waiting for me, I've been super busy with work and now that I've come back a good bunch of our thread has been eaten by hackers! Agh! Well, at least some of it survived and we have something to work off of, as I'm sure every other thread master in the RP forum is saying. SO... let's see what we can do. I'll write a nice recap for everyone just to refresh our memories and what we lost, and then we can set up where to begin again. Sound good? Well, I'm doing it anyway so here we go! xD

Ok, Goldwin and Gabriel are still in the practice building and Trys has just come in, upset to find the princess alone with someone he doesn't know or trust. He has just demanded that Gabriel come with him to be questioned at the castle for being suspicious and promiscuous with Goldwin :D

Atreyu and Keiran have decided that, in order for the two of them to stay together and not get hunted down in Numenor, they will join the country's army for the looming war under the protection of the princess. Right now they are at the battle domes with Goldwin's watch as admission and passage to be left alone by others until training officially starts the next day. Pan has also joined them, currently searching for Gabriel because his summoner powers made the voices that haunt her temporarily disappear.

Alice is currently speaking with and accompanying a stranger she ran into that has intrigued her. We will learn more as we go!

I think I've remembered everything, but please let me know or post yourself any details I might have forgotten. I hope everyone is still up to continuing :)

BIC: Goldwin sheathed her sword and glared at Trys, thinking, at the same time, that she had no reason to defend Gabriel. "Let him be, Trys; he's done no harm."

Trys frowned, still staring at Gabriel. "No, princess; he comes with me."

 

OOC: I just want to note that Blade had snuck into the battle dome after finding out from an inn keeper that the battle dome was the best place to train. I think I was the last person to post before the deletion

BIC: Standing in the middle of the arena was the silent mercenary named Blade. He stood there with his hands in his pockets and two huge swords on his back as he began planning on how he should start his training session

 

OOC: that looks all about right. i'd add something but i beleive you've covered it all. woohoo! oh, yeah and this post is kinda pointless. i don't have anything to post haha, just thought the encouragment on ur recap would be nice ^^
