Considering that you aren't involved and probably have no wish to be, isn't it a little rude to interject?

We've been over this a lot, but getting along as you say is neither plausible nor desirable. People clash. People get things wrong. People do things that are so counter-culture they end up getting ridiculed for it. Ignoring that is lazy and cowardly and only ruins the experience even more. Avoiding conflict for the sake of avoiding conflict decreases enjoyment over time because everyone loses zest for improvement and things stagnate without criticism.

All systems that provide gain require risk. In general, the greater the risk, the greater the return if successful. We shouldn't all become happiness and smiles because for one that is boring (people must struggle once in a while in order to progress; in a group where everyone agreed with you all of the time, you would grow bored out of your mind), for two it is not true to our nature (to pretend to get along would be deceitful), for three it is unhealthy to deny and repress your desires (this you should know personally), and for four you will never truly know if someone likes or dislikes you because it will be standard to smile and be kind no matter how you feel.

Yes, a lot of people could stand to be more understanding, but to put on facades of nicety is asking too much, and even you would not want it if you could see it in action.

But you don't quite grasp what the situation here actually is.

 

Sorry if my post came across the wrong way, but I wasn't trying to say, 'oh yeah, let's all live together in harmony and be a perfect community!'. Though my choice of words weren't exactly the best, I'll admit, what I meant was that everybody should just respect each other and treat each other in a kind manner. Sure, not everybody has to like everybody else, because perfection of this sort is impossible, but that doesn't mean they can just make them feel bad.

There's always someone who gets hurt for making a mistake, or not having the best grammar, spelling, or syntax, etc., because somebody has to downgrade them by saying 'oh, that post is crap because you have bad *blank*'. I understand that people who have bad typing etiquette should be told so, so they can improve, but don't you think it should be done in a kind, supporting way? Because, obviously, coming right out and saying it in a rude manner only causes conflicts between the parties.

And yes, it was rude of me to interject my thoughts on the matter, but I thought it had to be said.​

The problem is that most members do not do that in such a downgrading manner. You expanded and said that Vivi was not the only one, while to my knowledge he probably is the only one who is especially harsh about grammar and spelling. You were implying that we are all out of line, and the staff will read that as "the members think we should crack down more". Hence Jube's post.

... Definitely not the second one. You can't get past the fact that the ban hammer itself is not a kind device, so using it to create peace is a bit... Backward.

 

Honestly, I just said that because I didn't want to be rude to Vivi, and my post would be considered hypocritical, thus losing its true meaning. But being completely honest, yes, I have seen Vivi be especially rude to people about their typing etiquette as well. You see, it's difficult to try and make a point, but then saying a truth that goes back on that point. That's why I said many people.

But don't get me wrong, Vivi isn't just the only one who is rude to other members. Sure, he may be rude especially to members with bad etiquette, but that doesn't mean he's the only one to blame. Plenty of members get into fights and arguments over misunderstandings, I understand that. It's just that when someone starts downgrading someone with harsh words, or rude sarcasm, it's not right. If you want to argue, sure, but at least don't bring someone down.

Also, Vivi if you read this, I am not trying to make you feel bad in any way, so please don't take it that way, even though it appears so. I'm just trying to prove a point, and you were the guinea pig, my apologies.​

 

Well at least we have an understanding now. Just try to be more careful about who you condemn. It can change tides.

 

Don't ever worry about making me feel bad, I promise you no one on this site has ever made me feel bad, I stand by every action I do and every course I take.
