I got it near the beginning of the year for $10 just cause. I know how long Final Fantasy games take to beat. Would those of you who've played it recommend me to do so? Or should I use my time on other games this summer?
If you've played the first one, and enjoyed it, I'd say go for it. But if you didnt enjoy the first one, or at least not enough to warrant playing the second one, I'd say skip out on it.
I played the demo a few days ago and rather enjoyed it, but one thing that I noticed was they oversimplified quite a few things. The Crystarium is basically the same, except it's kind of boring now. They also brought back random battles via the whole "time paradox" something or other, but it basically amounts to having monsters appear, and then you can either run away or get pulled into the battle. It's interesting, but kind of lame and very annoying because it can happen while characters are talking while you're on the way to your next destination. My number one complaint, though, is that the Equipment screen, which previously had a very pretty few seconds of footage with the selected character's face before freezing at the last frame, has been replaced with a generic background with a rotatable character model with its "idle with weapon" animation on loop. Boring. The 'Mons aspect of the game makes the Paradigm system is a little bit more interesting, though. The spoils of each battle can randomly contain a summoning crystal for one of the monsters you fought, which is locked into a single Role that depends on what type of monster it is. You can have three monsters "equipped" at a time and depending on which paradigm you use, one of them can be in battle with you. I also kind of liked the little minigame where you have to resolve a paradox by collecting crystals.
Don't listen to this guy, he doesn't know what he's talking about. I did not enjoy FFXIII in the slightest, not one bit, but I got XIII-2 to spite Square due to the both huge and instant price drop it had. XIII-2 is the first game in the series to get the "fun" factor right since X-2, Sarah is also far more likable than Lightning and Noel is a pretty alright character too. The only real downside to the game in my eyes is the story, which is not very good. It holds your interest, but yeah. I say go for it.
You're not actually one of those faggets who cares about how to spell characters names in the XIII universe?
I would. In my opinion it's actually a lot better than FFXIII. Serah is tons more interesting than Lightning (who is my bby, but that's not the point), and Noel is really cool (better than ****ing Snow). It's oversimplified, but nothing horribly bad that warrants not playing it.
No, I'm actually one of those flits who cares about how to spell names in every universe. Wait, isn't Lightning not in XIII-2?
IMO Final Fantasy XIII-2 is the best FF game released in YEARS. It's not as good as the classics, but it feels a hell of a lot more like the old games, with exploration, and jsut for fun moments. Plus it's Final fantasy's first attempt at an interactive story, with pretty well pulled off QTEs, dialog choices, and the ability to move during some cutscenes (this is especially well done with Noel's backstory at the end) Here's the thing though. If you really like FFXIII for its story. Like you really liked the characters? XIII-2 DESTROYS all that. This game takes itself far less seriously than XIII did, and shatters the old, realistic-ish tone to pieces. But I'm okay with that because we got a vastly superior game Pretty much. She's in teh intro and the ending, and makes minor cameos sometimes
Lol I don't care. Lightning is like, the image of these games. So nope. I also don't like how skinny Sirrah and Litening are.
To be fair, Litnin is pretty different in this game... like, they basically emptied the character from the first game out, and put a bland... well... nonexistant one in its place Basically, they gave her superpowers. Style over substance, she's like Clod in Advent Children if you cut out everything but the fight scenes
Yeah, that's pretty much what I also think about the game. *get done making XIII *make XIII-2, except add the classic/popular time traveling theme to it. Which is coo'. I thought they used it well. But sometimes it was kind of ehhhhh. And I kept facepalming about that one chick that like, dies a lot.
