I was just scrolling through my e-mail and this tweet alert popped up. It mentioned something about something like this should be illegal and I clicked it... (WARNING: MIGHT CONTAIN SOME SWEARING/MATURE CONTENT IN COMMENTS!!! DIDN'T FIND ANY IN MY QUICK SCAN, THOUGH...)

    This is what I found:

    Any volunteers?

Intern for 200 hours so the company can "earn back" it's investment from an unpaid internship? Sounds like trash.

Sadly enough, from what I can discern from the comments...

It is actually a true ad.

If it's real, it makes me sad. I know there's unpaid internships around the US but that kind of thing should really be illegal by now.

That's what a lot of people are saying in the comments... I know one thing:

I won't complain about my job anymore.

That is kinda ridiculous. Pay back their "investment" in you? They don't even pay you and expect 40 hour weeks? Also they want people who already have degrees? I wonder how many people actually go for things like this.

Sometimes you don't really have a choice if the place you're applying to requires you to have more experience in your area. For my major (psychology) I had to do 350 internship hours and it took months before I was able to find a position that actually paid. It's pretty common in the US too, which is just plain nuts.

Reasons I'm very very glad my degree doesn't require an internship.

    What in the ****.

Is this company full of idiots? You can´t walk into a building, do what you´re good at while being put under a **** ton of stress (on purpose), and then have them say "oh and interns dont get paid :)"

    **** this tweet. **** it.

Lord, have mercy. @~@ 350 hours? Gees.

I'm planning to reach a master's in Family/Marriage Therapy with a specialization and certification in Play Therapy. But to get there, planning to get a bachelor's in General Psychology...

350 hours though... Guess that's better than the 24 hours you have to do in child care here in Texas. >~<

I'm suddenly really glad I managed to get a paid internship and a job not long after leaving university. Especially considering that in order to do the internship I had to relocate and rent a room for its duration, it would have been infeasible for me to do it unpaid.

I have heard of those, and have seen some internships that offer pay.

But these guys expect you to go through hell while helping them, and you won´t even get paid a dime.

    That, my friend, is bullshit.

What's really gross is that they know how desperate people are for work, and yet offer this crap in the form of a handout to score free labor.

I bet no one even gets hired in these programs, but they make it sound like "you didn't make the cut".
