He knew, they had apparently warned him prior to the event.

No-one see my post? >_> If he was willing to do this I'm pretty sure he didn't want to be at the school in the first place. It is the parents fault for sending him there in the first place against his wishes.

Nobody chooses which school they go to like that, besides, maybe he did want to go to the school, he just found some of its ideas to be too restricting, doesn't mean he hated the school, just means he wanted to be a teenager.

I and everyone I know go to decide what school they wanted to go to :S It is the parents place to decide not to make the final choice. Guidence, not outright control.

Where I live we don't, maybe it works differently where you live, but we pretty much got told what High School we were going to depending on out catchment areas. If we wanted to go to different we had to pay to go to Private school :D

Besides, maybe the parents didn't have much of a choice either. I really disagree in blaming the parents here.

The fact that it was a very strict and very specific religious denomination I doubt it was the only choice in the area. The parents chose that school knowing full well how restricting it would be for their son.

But I say good on him, breaking free from what is obviously an oppressive environment that could do no young adult any good.

I can see your point and whilst I see what you are saying, I still think that you are wrong for blaming the parents. I know that you have always been against parents enforcing religion on children before they have been allowed to make up their own minds, but I can't help but wonder if that is why you are pushing so much for the blame to be on the parents here.

That being said I do agree that it is great for him to have made an escape and to have broken out.

    xD

I suppose that is part of the reason. But I also see what TheMagicalMisterMistoffelees is saying in that he had been told what he could and could not do and yet he broke the rules. Also, I would assume he could have said something long before he reached graduation?
