"Yeah. Seems like he was the glue that held the family together."

 

"We've got to find a new one or all of us will go separate ways."

 

She felt something brush against her and opened her eyes to see a weird creature. It looked like a white blob with a curled-up tail and no legs and had tiny wings attached to its head and was just snuggling up against Luana's stomach.

 

Something tells me that is some sort of fairy.
She covers her hands over her eyes. "What's going on?"

 

You'll see.

"Just an odd little creature took a liking to you."

 

She extends out her other hand in front of her, not knowing where it is. "Are they common in this world?"

 

"It's on your stomach. I've never seen anything like it before. Based on its size, it would normally be in groups, so I'm guessing it's the only one of its kind since it's alone."

 

Her hand found something small then begins petting it. "How big is it comparing to your hand?"

 

"It's about watermelon-sized, its tail as big as its body." It shifted slightly, but otherwise didn't react. "Whatever it is, it looks exhausted."

 

She lowers her hand that covered her eyes and kept her eyelids closed. "Say something, little fellow."

 

It opened its black, beady eyes and let out a happy, weak squeak.

 

She smiles then heals it. "What is your name?"

 

It let out three squeaks in a row.

 

She felt like her body freezes up then pulls her hands away like its on fire.

 

It fluttered its wings curiously.

 

She buries her hands in her face and cries.

 

It uncurled its tail and nudged the ruby ring that was hidden in it towards her.

 

She stops crying to regain her voice. "Your name is enough."

 

He squeaked happily and snuggled against her face.

 

She pulls away then curls into a ball.
