It will, that's why we evacuate to other places, preferably extemes where no-one lives i.e. Arctic, antarctic, desert (not Nevada obviously) etc
we can evac a pair of each animal (1 male, 1 female) and dump them onto an ark that they can ride for 40 days and nights with an old guy that desperatly needs a shave called noah

Then evac everyone, build an underwater bunker capapbe of holding 2/3s of the US population. The unlucky 1/3 get radiationized
