Is there any reason we couldn't do both? Showdown would be easier for coordinating a tournament, but I'm sure many people (myself included) would like to play on DS. When matches are scheduled both players could decide what format they're playing in. It doesn't make any difference which format is picked as far as the tournament is concerned.

That sounds fine. I personally would prefer to play on showdown.

It causes way too much confusion trying to make sure that the Pokemon you're using on the Simulator or on your 3DS match up perfectly. If they don't match up, to me at least, you're not playing with the same Pokemon.

An idea: separate the tournaments into "Pokemon X/Y Tournament" and "Pokemon X/Y Simulator Tournament." The first can be viewed via recorded replays, the second by one of the participants using a streaming application.

    I like this idea.

What? Why would we need our teams on the sims to match our teams on the game? what if you dont even own the game?

That's true. But do we even have enough people to have more than one tournament? It seems like dividing up the players between two tournaments would make this less fun, and I'm not even sure if enough people would want to play on a simulator. I mean I guess people could compete in both but still.

I would like to say, again, that instead of getting banning evasion boosting/accuracy dampening we just limit the number of uses a single Pokémon is allowed to do.
I agree here. No dividing of players!

Because I could easily say that my legit 3DS team totally is composed of six Shiny, IV-perfect, EV-perfect, Hidden Ability Pokemon who all possess Egg Moves and Transfer Moves, and you'd just have to accept that.

Generated Pokemon are on a whole different level from Pokemon that people actually have to go through the time and effort to train. No way in hell do I want to pit my team of imperfect Pokemon against one that was made with sliders to be superior.

If you don't own the game, you can play the Simulator. Hell, we're not even sure if there will be a legit 3DS tournament yet, so we very well might have to use the Simulator.

Nobody said you have to pit your team of imperfect pokemon against pokemon made with sliders. Why are you assuming that? Nobody said you have to use YOUR team on the simulator. The point of the simulator is so you can make any team you want, so we would both be using slider-made teams.

Then...we're only doing the Simulator, like I said already.

The point I'm trying to make is, if we're doing any semi-legit tournaments, they each have to be on one format or the other.

That would be impossible to regulate in-game. The only way we could do it would be to review the match after it's over, which could lead to needing rematches and regressing in the tournament. Accidents can happen and in the heat of a game you could forget that you've exceeded the maximum uses.

    @Hayabusa @Karuta
We could just not have genned Pokemon in the game tournament. That would solve this. I mean I know we couldn't prevent it but I bet most people who want to play on the DS also want to play with their legit Pokemon.

    It's really simple, guys:

    -One tournament using the Simulator
-One tournament using Nintendo 3DS systems and Pokemon X/Pokemon Y cartridges

Except they don't. I don't want to play on the actual games because I want to use 6th gen pokemon which cant be genned. What im trying to say is that you can decide to play the actual game for your specific battle in the tourney, using your legit pokemon, or use a simulator with slider-made pokemon. its simple.

    that's what I'm saying

I'm still uncomfortable with having two tournaments, but for now we should plan to have both. We may find that there's not enough people to have both or that some other problem arises, but for now it seems to be the best thing to do.

    Im confused now.
When you guys battle on the actual games, are you planning on using teams that you have IV bread and EV trained with the right moves? Or just random mons you've caught and trained throughout the game?

Then...are we going to give people the choice to decline matches when they have to play on the simulator and aren't used to it?

I'm really uncomfortable with the idea of mixing formats: some people only play on the simulator and are thus exposed to only battles using mostly perfect Pokemon, and some only play on the 3DS and are thus exposed to only battles mostly using imperfect Pokemon.

Two separate tournaments for each format is the best solution to this.

I've trained my Pokemon to the best of my ability using only what methods I have available (that don't include cheat devices, generators, exploits, etc.) I don't have Black 2/White 2 to use for Transfer moves, I don't have IV-perfect Pokemon, and I don't have duplicates of items that can only be bought for BP.

But what if I bring my as far as you know legally bread perfect IV and EV pokemon to the 3DS tournament? Im pretty much guaranteed wins if you use non perfect pokemon right? thats the flaw here

Then the solution to that flaw would have to be exclusively using the Simulator.

3DS Tournaments rely on a certain amount of trust, unfortunately. For myself, I can saw that I didn't spend 150+ hours on my Pokemon to simply be put against generated perfect Pokemon.

Yeah, probably. I didn't think anyone was planning on using non perfect pokemon in this.

Here's an idea: Why don't we start with a 3DS Pokémon X/Y tournament first THEN talk about simulators and generators or whatever after. I'd rather we try something out first before we kill this idea prematurely like what it seems to be going on.
