I hate the Ice climbers


But I am quite skilled with them.

 

That's like saying 'in your opinion', Fox and Falco aren't Top Tier. But the undeniable, unchangable fact (at least in Melee) is that they are, in fact, Top Tier, and that won't change.

You can have an opinion on whether you like a character or not, but you can't make an opinionated guess on whether or not they're 'bad' or 'suck', when the blatant statistics of the game can show you otherwise that:

a) Exception to the Tier, an evenly skilled IC has a very good chance of taking out a Sheik
b) Desynced chain-grabs are one of the only techniques that can take a person from 0%-death, even after DI is considered.
c) IC has the strongest smash-attack moveset out of all the characters (yes, even stronger than Bowser's, not to mention IC's is faster too), and thus if used cleverly, is a quick and efficient way to clean house.

Actually, for stage recovery, IC players should be using side+b far more often than up+b. Up+B has very very limited uses in terms of when you should be using it.

all of that may be true, but the fact remains i have yet to meet anyone who plays ice climbers well, and i know at the very least 2 dozen smash players....im sorry if i come off as beating on the ice climbers, its just tha i dont think they are worth bringing back is all....

 

And I'm telling you, there are hundreds of master Ice Climbers in this world along with the millions other people you've never met. Ice Climbers deserve to be brought back as much as anyone else because they didn't suck, YOU just don't know how to use them. If the Ice Climbers really suck that much, then tell me, how could the strategy Soushirei describes work?

 

Do any of those two dozen smash players participate in local/regional/state/national Smash Bros tourneys?

Research ChuDat; an excellent IC player who often takes part in MLG.

EDIT: Hell, here's a match he had with KDJ at MLG 2007 Long Island. Considering how horrible the match-up was (Marth vs IC), ChuDat still manages to make High Tier character, Marth, have a run for his money. While he didn't win, the closeness of this match alone should more than merit the incredible potential of IC.

Things to Note:
@-01:30: Desynced Grab --> Upsmash KO

@-00:40-00:35: Desynced Grab A-spam to Upsmash KO. The timing of Popo and Nana's punches makes it impossible for Marth to shake out of the grab. This is one of the many chaingrab infinites I was talking about. Call it cheap if you want to, but bear in mind that how quickly ChuDat set up the desync, and how he managed to get just the right timing of the punches, is incredibly hard to set up, and against an agile-Marth player no less.

whao!!!!easy, i didnt mean any harm by the statement, all im saying is i dont like em, if id known everyonewas gonna get so worked up by it, i would have neer said it....geez, i apoligize for not liking the ice climbers, i also apoligize for not knowing anyone who plays ice climbers.....sheesh....

 

They are good. They're nintendo clasics. Not as famous as Mario. In fact I never knew about them until this game came out.

I'm good at being an ice climber but not at a toumnament level. They're just a fun character to play around with. Besides, my cousin has this game which is where I first played it and his is autistic and he is a little better than me. I remember playing in a tournamnet with him. He murdered me with the ice climbers.

Its true. He pwned me when I first played it but when he lost his game and I got it I was the best but then he started getting better and better and now we're equals.

 

The ice climbers are quite annoying for me to control......especially if nana decides to die on you.....>.>

I'm not a big fan of the hammer, never really was. Everyone always ran away. >:|

Anyway, it's pretty neat that you can walk in air when you have the golden hammer.
