Hey, I also thought they'd be up to a December 3rd launch...
My point is, unless character creation is one of the reasons of the delay, they are probably trying to fix it in time for their February release...
I'd love to see him in, it's just I don't think they find it a top priority...

Yeah, but you have to think, Melee had a 10 month development time, they really did not have a whole mess of time to work on that game, which is why a lot of it was recycled moves, characters, stages, modes, etc.

Brawl has had 2+ years of work

Not a top priority? It doesn't need to be Top Priority right now, character creation is something they do in early development, whatever they're doing in these next 4 months is all going to be Beta work; bug/glitch finding, fixing up the physics, working out the character balances, and adding some final polish and dazzle-sparkle-sparkle to the game

Yes, it has, but at the same time, there's so much features added to it, you can't just say the 2+ years of work was only for the characters. The stages have recieved a HUGE overhaul, as far as I know, not a single stage is just a simple background, a few are but even the background to them changes. There's also the short movies that are now shown, and the newly more worked on Adventure Mode. Most of the levels are expanded. Plus, those 2+ years of works, could have been done for the newer characters as well, as well as for some more they haven't announced yet. There is that possibility Ganondorf will be in it with a new set a moves, but like I said it's a low possibility, as it's great to keep a familiarity feel with characters.

I'm not saying it all went to Character creation, but Ganondorf being reworked as a new character was definitely something the fans wanted addressed, and I think the team knew this, and 2+ years of work is time spent addressing the sort of things fans, and I'm sure Sakurai and his team, wanted done.

Ganondorf in Melee was essentially fanservice, they threw him in quick and easy as a more powerful badass Captain Falcon with a face everyone would want to play, but now that they have the development time they can make that same Fanservice character into something unique like the character deserves xD

Plus I mean, Eiji Aonuma already stated that Sakurai contacted him to redesign Ganondorf for Brawl, plus that Sakurai said that certain clones would definitely be reworked into unique characters I think Ganondorf was in mind during that comment ;)

Also, I spend way too much time editing my posts and adding in afterthoughts xD this one was like 3-5 minutes of rewriting sentences and adding in things

Yep, early September Aonuma sat down with GameInformer to talk about Phantom Hourglass, and the topic of Brawl came up

    http://www.gameinformer.com/News/Story/200708/N07.0802.1741.54921.htm

GI: Have you been consulted at all for the usage of Link or Sheik or Ganondorf for Smash Bros. Brawl?

Aonuma: I’ve been working with Sakurai for a very long time with this new Smash Bros., because the Wii came out and when discussion for a new Smash Bros. took place nobody could think of anyone other than Sakurai working on it. He was kind of the default, and I was very happy to hear that he would be working on it.

Actually, my designers did work on the designs for Sheik and Link and Ganondorf. So they submitted the initial designs, and so it would fit in the Smash Bros. Brawl environment, they’ve had to tweak some of the designs. But Sakurai has brought those altered designs to NCL. We’re working very closely with the team of Smash Bros. Brawl to make sure the characters look their best.

Thanks, I'm gonna read it right now...

Lol, oh, it's because it was a Zelda interview. xD
Never would have thought to look there.

Yep, I'm a diligent Zelda fan so I saw this not long after this article came out, this is surprisingly very unknown information so consider yourself an insider

    Megaman X = original, rite?

Megaman might not get in it, though. Since he's remarkably similar to Samus in his abilities.

Though, he's an original. At least X is. =/

You know, I hear people say that Megaman would be so similar to Samus, they must be getting this notion from more recent Megaman games that I've never played or something, because I always imagined Megaman being the classic NES/SNES Megaman which isn't like Samus

Meh, X is close enough to the original, probably the closest of any newer games.

I think X could have quite a bit of non Samus attacks, heck, they could suprises us all and create a new Megaman specifically for this game so that he's not a complete copy of Samus.

Well, Classic Megaman has copy-abilities (like most if not all megaman games). He has grapple, Buster, rockets, and pretty much every other type of buster move.

However, if I'm right, and they put in MegaMan X, then that means he won't be too much like Samus. Because MMX may have a lot of different buster moves, but he also has dashes, countless armor types (Samus had a few but not over 8 different kinds like X. XD).

.... Now that I think about it, the similarities are almost staggering. Classic Samus + Classic Megaman = same character, almost, now that I think about it. I've been playing both games since the classics.... Maybe I'm just tired. Since I can't remember anything for some reason. lol

Yeah that's my point, when I imagine a Megaman character I think Cutman blades, Fireman fireballs, Iceman frost, Gustman wind, etc. which to me doesn't sound at all like Samus xD Only thing tying them together to me would be his Blaster, but the rest I see as being his Copy abilities + Booster + Energy Blade, etc.

Yeah. Well since this has been in such long development, perhaps they've decided to make him a non-Samus-copy, kind of like how (I'm assuming) they made Ganondorf (or tried to make Ganondorf) his own individual character away from C. Falcon.

But the only MegaMan model that was nothing like Samus, was probably the .EXE Megaman (Battle Network). I'm intrigued to see if that would even work. >_>

And I only thought of that since I'm a fan of the BN series. XD

I would love to see a .EXE Megaman, however, that would kinda rip from Pokemon Trainer (Lan controlling Megaman) and I don't want them to take thunder away from Pokemon Trainer. xD

I bet it will, I mean it's three chars in one kind've like how Zelda was two in one.

And if Megaman did join the party, it would need to be the original Megaman or Megaman X, not the one from BN >_>

Yeah, but with Zelda/Sheik there's a difference. Pokemon Trainer is three completely different characters, they have different up specials, diffrerent attacks (most likely) for smash attacks. It's similar, but not exactly alike. But once again, I'll make it work. xD
