Meh, not really. Games evolve in really wierd ways, but sim games almost never evolve into action games.

Lol, does that mean other games who have things like that will have playable characters? I think Nintendo is just doing more to incorporate more types of Nintendo games than just that of action, and I applaud them for doing that.

Again, it seems like a double standard to say "Oh yeah, cars, woo, we're only racing cars but anonymous-practically-faceless-character totally works out to be in this game" but then say "Yeah, but I mean there's no way they're gonna work with something unique like <genre> because it totally wouldn't work out"

Smash bros is about evolving in weird ways, taking a Plumber and a Puffball and a Electric Rat together isn't any more strange than an Animal Crossing character fighting with a Bug Net and a Fishing rod xD

? I don't understand what you are trying to say. They come from two totally different genres. Captain Falcon has competition unlike AC. He just fits perfectly into the game, AC is a laybacked type of game that has no competion what so ever.

Again, because it involves competition doesn't mean the the notion of taking a depthless character from a racing genre, with no physical action at all, to throw into a Fighting game suddenly makes perfect sense. It didn't make sense, and Captain Falcon had nothing to work with fighter-wise except that his name is Captain Falcon, and they completely built his character from scratch regardless. He's a great character in the game, I love him, I like playing as him, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't a wacky addition

Christ, most amount of posts I've seen in a while after waking up and getting on--hasn't even been 12 hours.

I won't bother reviving the situation with my last post in this thread, other than yes, the late hour when I posted carelessly set me off into bouts of half-truthness regarding the game. I still believe it's impossible for anyone to say "the game will be perfect/awesome by <current release date>", since for all we know, it might change later and thus the perspective changes.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time for a serious rebuttal, Dogen, I probably needed it.

Onward, I agree with Dogen's roster prediction. The general trend has been somewhat 'double of the last', so I could at the very least see it surpassing 30, if we assume most (if not all) of the Melee roster stays intact. Rumours were spouted about IC and G&W being scrapped, but hey, the Inuit duo survived, so anything's game.

On the topic of Ganon's inclusion, is it possible then to surmise that 'removing clones' didn't necessarily mean removing characters from the roster, but instead just tweaking movesets to make them unique from their Melee predecessors? Under that logic, that spells good news for characters like Falco (although I personally felt he had enough uniqueness in Melee).

    ................ xD
Ever played the GC F-Zero? It definitely had physical, people-interation. lol Maybe not on a combat-basis, but it definitely showed conflict, where AC doesn't. And Captain Falcon definitely looks fight-worthy, since he looks plenty in shape, doesn't he?
I agree, actually. =/ And like Dogen did state, he could use the sling shot, shovel, fishing rod, etc...

I will say that Game and Watch is a perfect example of why ACer will get in. I don't know anymore, I'll just wait and see. xD

When Peach activates her Final Smash, 2 portrait drawings of Peach appear on either side of the screen briefly, and when activated the entire screen flashes pink for a second and every opponent falls asleep instantly (Even if they are in mid-air). When everyone falls asleep, the 2 portraits disappear and cover the entire stage in hearts, which Peach can then pick up and use to heal herself (Like the food items in Melee). When your opponents wake up, if there are still hearts around they can pick them up for health as well

You can see it at the tail end of the video posted here:

    http://www.gamepro.com/nintendo/wii/games/previews/139928.shtml

Metaknight activates his Final Smash and then envelopes the entire stage in his cape, making everything absolutely pitch-black (Like Togepi did sometimes in Melee). He begins slashing wildly all around him while floating/flying around, the Metaknight player controls where Metaknight moves (in a similarly 'slippery' fashion to that of Pikachu's Volt Tackle Final Smash) and you can see brief outlines of where the other characters are as they try and avoid you

There has not been any footage of Metaknight's Final Smash, but I got this from a friend who attended Nintendo's Media Summit and gave info on the Brawl demo to Smashboards, so this is his impression of what went on

Also, we know Diddy Kong's Up+B and Nuetral+B

Diddy Kong's Down+B is to drop a Banana Peel that sits on the ground for a short period of time and acts like the Banana Peel item, but he can have one Banana Peel at a time though.

Diddy's Side-B is to lunge forward in a straight line (Like Fox's Side+B), and if someone is in the way Diddy grabs then and scratches their face with multiple swipes

Peache's final smash sounds like a *****. xD Metaknight's doesn't sound too bad though, since it doesn't make you fall asleep, making you completely vulnerable.

Actually there were animes and mangas far before melee. The crappy american versions came here after melee.
