    It's not their job to decide if something is constitutional. That's why we have a lovely little thing called the Judicial branch of government. I say, if this passes, KHV challenges it and gets the case to the Supreme Court. KH-Vids.Net v. United States Legislature has a nice right to it, eh?

    Close to passing or not, the riots that follow, along with the court cases, Presidential veto, and whatever else, it won't pass long enough to have anything put into action. We'll all be fine guys.

    And thus KHV becomes a world power.

    Why is the United States government doing a parent's job? The parents have to watch their kids to make sure they don't go on "mature" sites. Censoring the Internet is the communist's job.

    Like KS said, since it's not really their job if something is constitutional, it tends to be overlooked.
    Because hey, besides a some exceptions, why else would they pass a law that is against the constitution if they realize it? Obviously someone is bound to bring it up in court.

    Of course, it's not always like that.

    In this case they think they're doing the right choice, but they're really giving more power to those companies who are going to go on a copyright madness.

    It IS unconstitutional. It goes against our rights to free speech and such.

    Bring THAT up in Congress or the Senate and the sane people would think very carefully about voting again.
    notice I said SANE, not everyone. Most people in the politics now are pretty crazy
    Herman Cain, Michelle Bachman, Sarah Palin, Rick Perry

    I rest my case~

    It's not exactly about censoring "mature" content, but anything at all that they so much as think breaches copyright laws. Essentially, it'd take down about 75% of the internet.
    And Communism is about people living off of the land and serving themselves and nobody else. It's a nice idea, but it isn't able to work.

    If you get into a position where you are responsible for the harming of thousands of people and feel like you have a right to it, you are not sane by my standards.

    Do you have any idea what you are talking about? That is the worst description of communism I have ever heard. It is hard to tell if you are trolling.

    It sounds more like primitivism than anything.

    Yes. I just don't know their reasons. Unless the reason was in that really long post I didn't read. Regardless, it's not up to the government to censor your Internet. First, it's against your constitution. Second, it's up to parents to censor websites, until their kids move out and are old enough to mess with the Internet themselves. Third, even if they block these sites, new ones will come up, and less obvious than before.

    Also, are they really going to block Facebook and Twitter? People use those for their businesses.

    Google Communism. Read. Then edit your post.

    North Korea censors their Internet. It's a form of propaganda.

    Yes, I realize that. Your last point is what I was referring to, having common sense isn't in their job description either.

    @Cat

    Nancy Pelosi would like a word. No need to single out one side, they're all insane.

    Alright then;

    Not that the definition of Communism actually helps the thread, but hey.

    And that's why I implore you all to grab your pitchforks and torches and march on. DESTROY THE GOVERNMENT

    Then hire the current staff as your leaders.

    That's the dream.
    Yes. Yes we are.

    I did, but "right" sounds better now that you bring it up. Even if it does make less sense.

    But it does prove that Communists don't really live off the land. They also serve themselves and everyone in their country, because everyone is "equal".

    @Itaru: *sigh* I'll get my pickaxe.

    They will shut down any sites that threaten companies who lobby for the law. You know about patent and copyright wars? Well, now they will be able to shut down any site with copyrighted material on it.

    This could be used on any number of sites that might contribute to 'copyright infringement'. Facebook is big enough that it could get by with money, but I am not sure about others. Have you seen The Social Network? Imagine that, and then imagine that they can shut down anyone they do not like.

    This is unrelated to communism itself... I believe you mean state socialism, rather than the social structure.

    And I realize this as well.

    They're just insane in general but the most recent examples of idiocy came from the Republican candidates.
