The Chronicles of Narnia: The Middle

Prince Caspian was rather surprised that she merely rolled her eyes when he had complemented her, or so he had thought he had in his mind at least. He sighed turning back around and continued walking figuring that talking was probably best out of the question for now that things seemed to be rather tense.

 

William saw how his twin was starting to get in a mood, so he tried to lighten the situation. "Um, Prince Caspian, I was wondering... well, my sister did put it a bit harshly earlier... I was wondering why your people had driven the Narnians away."

 

Alexandria tilted her head, curiously waiting for Caspian's answer.

 

Prince Caspian's eyes narrowed before he decided to close them with a sigh, "you are right in saying my people instead of putting the blame on me..." He softly continued, "however I must say my blood does bear part of it...however it is of my father..." He rubbed his temples, "what is the main reason for war friends...none other than fear...fear of the unknown and strange to us..."

 

Alexandria thought about Caspian's answer for a moment. What was the reason for the war passing through Finchley?

 

"I guess that's true," William said. "But why didn't the past Telmarines find out more about the Narnians instead of taking such a quick approach?"

 

Prince Caspian sighed, "when you have so much fear built up...illusions and lies clouding your judgments...its not hard to see that elimination becomes a very quick option to any problem friend..." He started to slowly continue walking, "when protection and safety are hand in hand...words can be twisted and manipulated by those who do not take the time to think things through..."

 

"I see your point," William agreed, knowing that that might upset his sister.

 

Alexandria was about to argue, but decided it was better not to.

 

Prince Caspian nodded, "I see the point...however it was not...it was my father...and of course his uncle seems to be far worse than that..." He sighed softly, "I only hope that I may ascend to my throne so that I may change some things for the better...as you said make it so when someone sees a Telmarine they smile...and when they hear of Caspian the Tenth they do not think of my father..."

 

"We don't know much," Alexandria spoke up. "We only know what Trufflehunter told us. So... to us... it looks like.... What I'm trying to say is..." Alexandria sighed, frustrated at herself for losing her argument just by having to argue with someone that she happened to find attractive.

 

William chuckled. Luke must not be liking this very much. He thought.

 

Prince raised an eyebrow, "Trufflehunter...if I may ask who is he?...true he may have seen the deeds of my father and uncle...but he has surely not seen or heard of what I plan to do..." he said sighing and walking over to a tree. "It seems just as a swift undeserved justice was given to those Narnians...so has it befallen on myself and my people for the crimes of few..."

 

"He's a friend," Alexandria answered, deciding that it was best if she didn't go into details. "And I'm not blaming you. Whoever did it is the one who has the fault."

 

William smiled, glad that Alexandria was easing up a bit.

 

Prince nodded curious to know more however figuring it was best that they only all express and tell what they believed to be appropriate to the situation at hand. He stopped by a tree, looking out noticing that the sun was slowly starting to fall behind the hills, "not too bad...we are about a little more than halfway to Anvard...we will rest here for the night..."

 

William sat down with Alexandria. "So we're making good progress?"

 

Alexandria took off one of her shoes, tossing it into her twin's lap with a joking smile, and rubbed her foot. School shoes were not good for long distances.

 

William made a face at Alexandria and tossed her shoe back over to her.

 

Prince Caspian nodded gently and spoke softly, "indeed...I would imagine we shall reach Anvard in the late morning of tomorrow..." he said looking off to the coast. "I'll go out in search of some wood for a fire...we can try to make a small camp..." he said heading off along the coast looking for driftwood.
