The Chronicles of Narnia: The Middle

William looked around at the forest as Alexandria pulled him along. He could tell that his twin was very excited by all this and she had completely forgotten about home already. But he was already wondering how they would get back.

 

"So, Trufflehunter," Alexandria began. "Are there more of you? Talking animals, I mean."

"Yes," Trufflehunter answered. "Are there not where you come from?"

"No," Alexandria sighed. "I wish there were though."

 

"Calm down, Alex," Luke muttered behind her. "That's just silly."

 

"Huh?" Alexandria turned to look at Luke. "What do you mean? You don't like talking animals?"

Trufflehunter held back a laugh. The conversation was just too ridiculous.

 

"Ugh," Luke coughed. "Are you kididng me?"

 

Alexandria shrugged. "I think you just don't like what you can't explain." She smiled and turned back around.

 

Elizabeth looked at Truffelhunter while they walked, trying to figure him out. Talking animals, a magic forest, those kids are royalty thousands of years ago... this is just too crazy. she frowned and shook her head.

 

Luke ignored Alex, throwing her a dirty look.

"Are you alright?" he asked Elizabeth quietly.

 

"uh huh, I'm just trying to figure this out." Liz answered, smiling at him. "It's kind of exciting though, isn't it? I mean it makes no sense... but still."

 

"This is the Stone Table," Trufflehunter said suddenly. "It is a historical mark for us Narnians. We can't visit it during daylight though. The Telmarines keep too close a watch here normally; I' m not sure why they aren't here now."

"What happened here?" Alexandria asked, interested as to why the table was cracked.

 

Elizabeth slowed slightly to look at the table. She could see writing on it and it seemed sacred to her, even just passing it. "Wow..." she muttered before looking ahead at Trufflehunter to hear about how it was cracked.

 

"A battle?" Luke guessed aloud. "I only say that because it seems you have stated you have enemies."

 

"It was before a battle," Trufflehunter clarrified. "Though High Queen Susan and Queen Lucy can tell you much more. It is said that they were here, in this very spot, when the table cracked."

Alexandria moved back to walk alongside Elizabeth. "He sounds sad... Do you think he'll tell us exactly how it happened?" She whispered.

 

"I hope so, but I don't know." Elizabeth whispered back. "Do you really think that those Pevensie kids are royalty here?"

 

OOC: Well if I may...I guess I shall be taking Peter Pevensie (sp?) and if I may as well Prince Caspian..ah the irony.

 

OOC: of course!! :D

BIC: "Do you not believe me?" Trufflehunter asked, overhearing the girls.

"I do!" Alexandria smiled.

 

OOC: yay! ;^-^;

BIC: "Oh, I don't disbelieve you." Elizabeth answered, not quite to willing as Alex. "I just... don't understand. I hope you'll explain everything. This is so strange..." she looked around the forest as her words trailed off.

 

"I can't give you all your answers," Trufflehunter said. "But there is someone who can."

"Is it another badger?" Alexandria asked excitedly.

 

"Can we meet them today?" Elizabeth added to Alex's question, focusing back on Trufflehunter.

 

"Answers would be nice," Luke muttered, just loud enough for everyone to hear.
