The Chronicles of Narnia: The Middle

Alexandria blushed. "That's nice, but we're not angels. And we're not from... Anvard, was it? We're from Finchley."

 

William followed Elizabeth and his twin along with Luke. I don't like the way Alex is looking at that guy.

 

Elizabeth glanced at Alex, understood that look that she was giving the man and refrained from a sigh. "Yes, we don't really know what we're doing her." she explained, lamely. "Who are you, though?"

 

Prince Caspian raised a eyebrow confused at both responses from Alexandria and Elizabeth, first turning to Alexandria, "Finchley...is that somewhere here in Narnia...apparently we Telmarines have more to explore..." he said softly thinking. He then turned and looked at Elizabeth, "you have not heard of me?...Caspian the tenth...next in the royal line for my father's throne..."

 

"Oh, so you're a Telmarine..." Alexandria murmured. She bit her lip, thinking of what she'd said earlier. How could someone so good-looking and innocent (he appeared to be to her) be so cruel?
"Well... can you answer me something?" She didn't wait for Caspian to give her a yes or no. "What's your problem? How could you oppress a people who lived here before you?"

 

"Alex," William sighed. "You don't have to be so straight-forward about it."

 

Elizabeth frowned slightly, her gaze moving between Caspian and Alex. "I hope you won't be offended by us." she started. "We only have one side of this place's story and, so far, it seems you're on the bad side." she wasn't so sure as Alex seemed to be that everything was black and white like Trufflehunter made it out to be.

 

Prince Caspian was slightly thrown back by the Alexandria's question and automatic assumption of him being at fault for her claims against him. In actuality he took offense to that, his father had acted in such a way before, and if his uncle in some way or another became king he would for sure be that way. He got up brushing himself off, "I am not my father..." he said before walking off.

 

"Great job, Alex," William said, frustrated. "He could have helped us."

 

"And what about the Narnians?" Alex said, her voice rising in anger. "Trufflehunter told us that the Telmarines are bad people!"

 

Elizabeth stood up and quickly ran over to face him, and stop him from leaving them with no information. "So what is going on from your perspective?" she asked quickly, seeing he'd been offended. "We dont' knkow anymore than we've been told so far, and answers seem to be in short supply."

 

"So you're believing a talking badger over that prince?" William asked.

 

"Stop being scientific!" Alexandria argued. "I like badgers! And besides, Trufflehunter is nice."

 

"Being nice doesn't make him the good gu-... badger." William said.

 

"What are you trying to say?" Alexandria folded her arms.

 

"We should figure out both sides of the story before we make any decisions." William said confindently.

 

Prince Caspian was surprised that Elizabeth tried to stop him, crossing his arms in a stubborn dignified manner, "perhaps if you seek answers...approaching someone with a proper tone would be to one's advance..." he said gently but with a tone of offense still apparent. "Besides...my life does not mean I am chained to the actions of my past kings or people..." he said closing his eyes. "I would like some answers as well if you please...where is this Finchley...and why are you here..."

 

"Thank you, Will!" Luke sighed, clapping William on the back. "Someone else with a little sense and wariness around here will do us good!"

 

"Alright, fine," Alexandria agreed at last. "Hey..." She looked around. "Where's Trufflehunter?"

 

"Hopefully ran away into the woods," Luke muttered with a grin. "We won't see him again."
