The Cold Consumes All

ooc - last post for the night but I can post again early tomorrow.

"Some, if not all, fight out of fear..." Olive didn't wait for a reply before she turned to leave the room but she was still listening to him and keeping the conversation going. "Plus murder's never good. I believe more in...defense." She giggled. "It is my speciality after all."

 

Vincent followed her, keeping close on her heels, as he always did. "True," he half smiled at her giggle and subconsciously checked off his weapons, just to make sure he was prepared, "Defense...it's my duty to protect you and well, you're still alive so I think I'm doing a good job of it so far." Defense wasn't the only thing he could do, but he usually tried to avoid conflict if there was another way out. "I still don't see what they're so afraid of. I'd be glad to be away from there. Realizing they have powers could give them the chance to get a job with Ink. Humnas are...so stubborn." He always refered to them as humans, instead of people. Not many knew what he was exactly, because of his handy coat, but he prefered to keep them in the dark.

 

Mya cocked her head excitedly. An adventure? Sure I'd love to join you guys! She smiled happily.

 

They then entered the elevator and with a her keycard a hidden compartment opened just under the buttons. There she could access the top and basement floors. She pressed the button for the very bottom level which opened on the Bottom Level. "You're doing an excellent job at protecting me. And for humans... Well I guess they're all a bit weird, but I find that interesting." Once the elevator went to the bottom floor it opened out into a backroom of large store and none of the Bottom dwellers knew that Ink ran this store.


"That's great!" Azure skipped ahead, no longer able to hide just how exicted she was. "Have you ever been to the edge?" She asked the two of them, looking over her shoulder and without stopping.

 

Aywa walked quickly through the bottom level, her coat pulled tight around her with her hood up. Her eyes scanned the area around her, you never knew what would be around the next corner here, probably what you least expected.

Biography: Roro originally grew up at Ink with her parents, however when she reached the age of 7 she was kidnapped by a group into the city. After escaping at the age of 9, she began living in the city with a top notch gang of the community as she didn't know the way back home. A carefree soul who doesn't listen to much events happening outside her own personal little universe. In a sense she can be quite naieve but strong spirited.
Skills: Aside from being able to have the ability to turn into other objects/beings, she can also levitate objects, but since she's still learning she isn't very strong yet with levitation.

 

Mya shook her head following her. No I haven't. I never usually left the place around here since I was always afraid of the things out there. So anyways, why are we leaving? Where are we going? There was so many questions Mya wanted to ask since she was clueless to where this would lead them.

 

As naturally as he could manage he took her praise and rested his hand on the hilt of his sword, "Would it be too much to ask for minimum activity down here?" He walked a step behind her to protect her back and front. Most people thought it was easy protecting a girl, but Olive got into as much trouble as any man could've. It was just so...human of her.

 

"Aw, well isn't that just adorable. Frik and frak. Goin on out to the big bad basement to rustle up some baddy's?" Alex asked, a small smirk appearing on its face. Little emotion showed on its face, but only because even after all of these years, it had been a challenge for it to learn how to move the human parts of its body.
He stood not too far away from the elevator, almost as if it had been waiting their for the two. No one ever seemed to know what it really was doing or why it did it, but tension had grown between it and the rest of the members due to the things special privalages, something that was being granted to some genderless dummy instead of to an actual hard working person. Amongst people, genders existed, but at least they had life. Alex on the other hand was artificial, and would never have a soul.



Mathew walked down the streets of the lower level, passing by an allyway, where he spotted a group gathered together, looking dazed. They had needles in their arms with purple fluid inside. "Ugh, disgusting..." he muttered to himself at disgust to the druggies.
He stared up into the vaste buildings made up of magnificent technological advances and straightened his top collar to give himself a bit more warmth, since it always seemed to get so cold when he visited the lower level. "Tis it a curse that all must be corrupt, or perhaps it's just me...Though I stand here and apreciate the beauty of the mind of man, those who have made it, even the purest, doth be stained by their cravings of death. The fasination with such people remains endless..." he mumbled to himself, speaking in an particularly upper class tone which most people would pick up instantly due to his pure way with the pronouncing of words. "Sad indeed..." he mumbled, sticking his hands into his pockets as he began to continue on his way.

Azure didn't have anything to say after the mention of death. It was too sad to think about. What was even worse was seeing The Waste for the first time. She stared out at it with a blank expression. Not a single plant was in sight. "This place... Such a shame."


Olive felt uncomfortable the moment she heard Alex. She could never pick which feature about him freaks her out the most. She looked back to Vincent then towards Alex as she stepped off of the elevator. "Are you asking to come with?" She asked, getting to the point. It was always best to start a mission on the bottom level as soon as possible.

 

"Would I bother you two otherwise?" it stated with a snobby tone. "Sides, I'm not asking, I'm telling this time. I got orders to follow you guys around today." it said as if it were no big deal at all. It didn't really have anything against the two on a personal level, it just found it fun to mess with the various Ink members. Since they disliked it, it chose to return the same attitude toward them. After all, it had nothing better to do with the humans.

 

Vincent stepped in front of Olive, his hand tightened on his sword hilt, "Fine, orders are orders, but you take that tone with Olive again and I won't hesitate to rip out whatever keeps you alive." His protective nature dominating what had been gentle just a few minutes ago. So we're to be stalked on a simple mission...Lord Almighty, this will be difficult. He didn't like dealing with the dummy. It's lack of emotion and anything defining bothered him.

 

Olive patted Vincent's arm as she passed him to open a garage like door. She extended her arm out to present it to them. "Well, the city awaits us." In actuality she really just wanted to get this over with. Normally there were teams of four but she was fine with just two members. Any more was just weird at this point. Plus Vincent was the best partner she could of asked for.

 

Mya stared sadly at The Waste. It felt so depressing and so empty. She suddenly felt exposed and insecure just by looking at it. And we aren't even close to the epicenter of The Cold. Imagine how bad it is there...She shivered at the thought.

 

The river which ran into the settlement had been running low so Shiira headed out with a friend to check it out. It ended up being a few sticks of wood was blocking the river. They were so close to the forest but they weren't allowed in. Maybe the people there wouldn't mind, but every time one of them went in they would walk in a straight line but always end up back in The Waste. Besides, they had made a home for themselves in The Waste before they even knew how close the were to the forest. Still...she couldn't help but to wonder how it was deep inside. She began to walk along its edges, her friend wondering why but not questioning his well trusted leader. That's when she heard someone speaking. Thinking that it could of been people who came from the Waste she went up to them to see if they needed help. But when she saw them she doubted they were from The Waste. She gestured for her friend to back up and looked them over. "Are you three from the forest?"

 

Aywa rounded the corner to walk down the street which the shop Ink was using as a cover was on. She shivered feeling the cold and began to regret coming out today, wishing she'd just stayed put. She sighed, shoving her hands deep in to her pocket in a bid to keep them warm and carried on walking.

 

Vincent glowered at Alex and stood behind Olive. "You first, Alex. I don't trust you to be at my back." His other reasoning was to put Alex in the front to protect Olive's front and he'd take up the rear. Releasing his sword hilt he gave the impression he was relaxed and glared at Alex.

 

ooc - How would she know that?

"I go by Shiira." After seeing that he was just as wary with her as she was with him she relaxed and a wide smile appeared on her face. "So you wouldn't know your way around here, huh?" She asked nicely but a hint of mischievousness was in her voice.
