The Cold Consumes All

"Oh, but the sands are always changing." She said, hoping to make them relay on her help. She was in an upbeat mood but that, along with her smile, vanished the moment Sin was mentioned. "No, I'm not apart of Sin, though yes, they are in The Waste." The anger rose in her steadily but she surpressed it. If she did it well then they would see her only as blank now. "Why do you ask of them?"

 

Vincent growled as his eyes slid to Jason. Pulling his sword from it's sheath, the light from it glowing brighter, leaving a brilliant light around him. He smiled, letting good humor instead of anger rule how he fought, "Sure, let's play." He wanted to go after him, but leaving Olive unprotected went against his duty. Hopping from one foot to the next he made up his mind and dashed down the street after Jason. Sheathing his sword, he picked the moment when he was closest to him and punched him in the jaw with enough force to knock him tot he ground.

 

"The only reason you might possibly be obvious is because I very much so would like to do the very same thing. Ink is an orginization with good intentions, run like a bag of jelly beans. The intention is the same of each bean, but every member has its own flavors. Besides, it's not every day you get to see them making a big scene..." he said to her, his voice sounding as if it was trailing off as the sentence reached its end. He drifted more into thinking for a moment, staring at the ground for what was a good twenty seconds of awkward silence. He then jerked his head up and looked her directly in the eye, a daring look in his own eye, as if he were prepared to enter some sort of a competition. "The name's Mathew, profesional delivery boy. And you madam?" he asked, his clear speaking skills standing out from the normal slang like speech of most people at the bottom level.

 

Seeing the fist aiming at his face Jason quickly started to change his cheek into steel and made sure Vincent hit that. The steel hadn't fully formed, but it lessened the damage and probably hurt Vincent as well. As Jason fell to the ground he quickly thrusted his hands down and pushed himself off of the street. His legs shot upwards and he aimed a kick towards Vincent's chin only for it to hit a near see-through wall of white.

"Ejacet..." The forgien word that came from Olive's lips meant set and she spoke when Vincent drew his blade. This spell was to 'set' other spells for quick use and the moment she spoke it a dim golden glow surronded her and golden letters in a dead languge formed in the air near her and floated around her head. She said several other words as quickly as possible, and with each word she said one would appear around her in golden letters, and just as she finished listing off the important ones she saw Vincent in danger of being hit. "Taji!" A word that floated around her shoulders started to glow brightly. This was the defense spell. It was low level but still strong enough to make a sheild in front of Vincent just in time to block the kick. Though it did use a lot of the engery she had stored up, which wasn't much so she activated her collection spell, Monash, which passively collected engery that was drawn to her and began forming small wings on her back. It was a slow process as there weren't much engery to draw from since she couldn't take any from the people around her, but it should be enough given their opponent.

 

"Actually... Many people are still on their own." Her pride, slightly offended. Hopes, returned. He wished to end the fighting so he was okay in her book. Her smile returned, but it was smaller than what it was before. "I lived on my own for a few years here, thank you very much." That should impress him, or, at the very least, it made her feel better to let him know that. "I found a few people wandering about and gathered them somewhere near by. Together we created a small settlement. Life isn't the best, but we like it there." She was slightly worried that she was giving them too much information, but none of the three before her gave off any bad vibes, so why hold out on them? "We don't have a name for ourselves so call us whatever you want. I can take you to our settlement and point you in the direction where we last saw a gathering of Sin members. I may even escort you there..." She paused to look them over once more. "For a price that is..."

 

Mya smiled at Shiira. She was impressed that she could hold out in such a hellish place. Mya stepped up. I respect you Shiira. Living in a place here. I wouldn't know. I lived in a forest for my whole life. For my whole life, I was believed that you were scums. How wrong what I believed in.

 

Vincent wasn't surprised when he heard Olive's defense spell and watched calmly as Jason's kick connected with the white wall. To him, colors were brighter and he redrew his sword, hitting Jason with the flat of the blade. His intent wasn't to kill, simply knock him out or...maim him a little. Vincent gathered a fist of holy magic and tried again, punching at Jason's stomach.

 

Aywa smiled and met his gaze, she was beginning to like this person, "I'm Aywa, it's a pleasure to meet you. And I just do what needs to be done to get by." She glanced back at the fight briefly, shaking her head before looking back at Mathew. She was slightly puzzled as to why someone like him would remain on the bottom level, he seemed like he would be more at home on the top but that was her being nosy. "Anyway, are you headed anwhere in particular?"

 

While trying to keep a low profile, Ollerus was searching around the lower level for any clues that could lead him towards Ink. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to find info on where their HQ was but he did learn from a few locals that every once and while, Ink members would come down from the top to search around for people to put in the database. While it wasn't exactly what he was looking for, the info was good nonetheless. If I find these members then maybe I could follow them back to their base.

While thinking on how he could find these members, Ollerus wasn't exactly paying too much attention to his surroundings and a little boy ran into him. "Oh sorry kid. I didn't see you there." Offering his hand to the kid who had fallen on the ground from the rebound of running into him, he started to notice that there was fear in the boy's eyes and how he was short of breath as if he was running away from something. "Are you okay? You seem a little tense." asked the magus with concern. "...Ink!" said the kid while breathing hastily. "I gotta run away or that scary man from Ink is gonna get me!" Scaring little kids. Shouldn't Ink be above doing things like this? "Calm down little man. No scary man is gonna get you." Helping the little kid get up from the ground, Ollerus gave him a pat on the head to reassure him that everything would be alright. "Now where exactly is this scary man?" asked Ollerus. After catching his breath and calming down, the little boy pointed down the street. "Thanks. I'll make sure that the scary man doesn't do anything to you." said Ollerus as he ran down the street. Looks like I found the members from Ink. But seriously, scaring a little kid...that's just low.

Jason moved in time to dodge the first attack and then jumped back. And even though he was far enough so the fist wouldn't hit him, but the magic would probably travel. So he waited until after the attack was launched to move out of the way. Seeing an alley way near by Jason ran into it. He really wasn't all that willing to fight both of them at the same time so separating them seemed ideal.

Olive looked over to Alex then ran ahead, stopping at Vincent's side. "Ready for any traps that await us?" She asked, waiting for him to go first as she was merely back-up.

 

Vincent lit another ball of light in his hand and grinned at Olive, "Ready as I'll ever be." His features were relaxed and...happy? He enjoyed his job but most would think putting their charge in danger was stressful. Vincent took joy in his job. Twirling the broad sword around his hand and touching a finger to the blade, magic flowing into it, lighting it up and making it glow brighter. "I got this kid." Vincent dashed off after Jason, his intent itching closer to maiming him.

Rounding the alley's corner, Vincent chased after Jason, his inhuman body giving him a slight speed advantage.

 

The alley was in-between the bases of buildings of a power company and a few days before he rigged them to explode, but before he could set it off he had his run-in with Ink. Well, the bombs should still be there... He pulled out a black remote with a white switch on it and flicked it. The moment he did so the base of the building to the right exploded. Even if the building remained standing large piece of it were already falling into the alley way. Jason was already out of the alleyway with Vincent near the exit. If he managed to get out the two would denfinetly be cut off from each other.


Olive used her defensive spell again and jumped back to get clear from the falling rubble. "Don't lose sight of him! I'll stay here!" She called out for Vincent and saw that some people were in danger of the building falling on them. Olive said her spell once more and a half circle appeared between the falling pieces and the people. She shouted for them to get out of the way and looked over her shoulder and towards Alex. She didn't like the thing but wished for Vincent to be okay. "Can you go after them?"



"Glad you think that way of me, but I am scum." She said to Mya, with more pride one should of had while saying such a thing...

Azure stepped forward and pulled out a necklace that was hidden under her robe. It had a gold chain and on it hung a ruby. "Will this do? It will protect you from any harm."

Shiira looked over this necklace with a curious look. "Alright, that would do. So do we have a deal?" She asked as she looked over to the other two.

 

Vincent glanced behind him, hearing Olive's command, and kept running. He was putting his charge with Alex's protection. It made him uncomfortable but an order was an order. He ran after Olive more determined now than ever to catch the boy. Tucking his sword away he pushed his body to catch up to him, shoving his back as he grew closer, trying to make him stumble and trip over his own feet. "C'mon! Give it up! You can't out run Ink!" he half-heartedly called after him. Without knowing Olive was safe, sucked the fun out of the moment of chasing after Jason.

 

"Really kid, like you need to tell me." Alex replied. It took no hesitation in sprinting in the direction that Vincent and Jason had taken off in, his speed slightly faster then that of a normal human. To think I thought that I was going to end up having a boring day. Least I can take down notes on these people and then get the hell out. Sides, I could use that Jason kid. He's got a good face... it thought to itself as it sprinted through the allyway.


Mathews eyes went wide, looking up higher above him at the sound of the explosion. "You know, it's actually a pretty funny reason why I'm down here. But you see, as much as I would like to get into a conversation about that, I think that it'd be a MUCH better idea if I explain it to you after we get the hell out of here!" he said, his voice rising with each word. "I'm terribly sorry for this." he added in, as he grabbed her by the arm and began to tug her, to urge her to run in the same direction as he was going, so as not to be in the way of the falling collateral.

 

Jason fell forward, but ended up changing his fall into a dodge roll. He spun around, still crouching low to the ground. The street they were on now had several people on it, but he was glad to see that the girl had been left behind. But still... The distance wasn't all that great, but he was sure he couldn't out run this Ink member. He could grow wings...but it was best to save that for later. At least having people on the street would limit Vincent's use of power if he cared for any of them. His arms still had there blade edges and now his fingers were blades by the time he stood straight. "You seemed to care for that ugly girl. Is she your girlfriend or something? He mocked.


A sweat drop fell down the side of Olive's face. She was glad to Alex go, but some of the people (just random ncps) were frozen in fear. At this rate they would be crushed. "Satch." It was her lowest level attack, and she didn't have a lot of engery collected, so it should just be a slight push. One of the words illumiated and white mist shot out from her hand and pushed some of the by-standers out of the way. This weakened the shield slightly as more rubble got past it, but she figured that the rest would move now. Only a little longer...

 

Vincent growled, hating the restrictions in this street and lifted one steel toed boot, spinning on his heel he swung his heel out to kick Jason, "She's not my girlfriend! It's none of your buisness anyway!" His white coat fluttered around him as he spun and prayed at least that this hit would make contact. The boy was more elusive than a needle in a haystack. Lifting his hand, he lit another glowing ball of holy magic.

 

Strength and fighting weren't his strong points, but he's always been good at evading and running away. Jason leaned back and the boot flew by him. He could hear it pushing through the air. "Whoa, so strong. I bet she likes that." He mocked, noticing that his taunts were effective. Seeing the light in Vincent's hands, Jason knew he had to act quickly. His claw-like hand slashed upwards in hopes of slashing Vincent's chest. He was going to be hurt or Vincent was, either way this was going to effect the outcome of the battle immensely.

 

Vincent didn't let the taunts get to his head. His boot missing the boy and he caught Jason's hand, giving him the perfect opertunity. His fist slammed into Jason's chest and he twisted his arm, holding him by his wrist. "That's enough small talk. I don't care what she thinks of me, she's my charge and nothing more." Vincent's dark ocean blue eyes glared at him violently and tightened his grip on jason's wrist, threatening to break bones.
