The Cold Consumes All

Vincent almost hugged her in his joy. His shoulder ached where a rock had hit his wing. Since the muscles in his wing were connected to the muscles in his shoulder, he would feel it until his wing healed. "Look at this. The great Vincent Valentine, Seraph angel, homesick for the sky. Ha, I'd be ridiculed if Alex or any of the other members found out about that." It was normal for any other angel to miss the sky, but one that chose to work with Ink, shouldn't miss it. He chose the restraints and had embraced them until now. Instead of hurrying Olive along like he wanted to, he walked calmly beside her and sighed, his memory of flying was becoming hazy. "The outside...I wonder if everything looks more or less the same anymore." it was more wishful thinking out loud than actual wondering, but said none-the-less.

 

Mya nodded. That's alright. We won't goals too much from the rations and supplies. Just enough for us to get through here. She headed over to the supply building and looked for things that can help them along their journey.

Like a brief high. For both Aywa and Mathew, as light headedness came over the both of them. The scenery around them changed in what could only be described as even more then a flash. As if they had been in the spot they stood now the entire time. They stood infront of a building which had appeared to have been blown to pieces. A crowd had been gathering, but they were farther away by an allyway. "I forgot to mention. I'm not like most guys." he added in cleverly.

 

Awya looked around in suprise, "Wow, that's just awesome. You're full of suprisess. Teleportation?" She guessed before laughing, a slight twinkle in her eye, "But I bet you aren't, I'm not exactly what you would call normal either" She hinted, without thinking. She was glad that she had met someone who was different for a change. She glanced around where they now were "So, where's this man?"

 

"Huh. Most girls usually scream when they see a guy teleport. But I guess that people like us are used to this kind of thing then. None the less, our deliveree should be right ove-" Matt was begining to say, but stopped. He stared at the collapsed building, not actually taking into account the fact that the scene that he had pictured in his head was one that had a fully built building, which WASN'T blown up. "That's not how this was supposed to work...." Matt said to himself. He then turned back to Awya. "SLIGHT problem. I know that he was definatly supposed to be here around five minutes ago, and I had figured that he would still be here, but.....well, long story short, we're gonna have to walk. A bit farther then I had expected." Matt said, laughing nervously, not mentioning that they had teleported to an area which was completely opposite of the destination where Matt knew he would be able to find the person that he was looking for without a doubt.

 

Aywa nodded, "Oh, okay then... I can walk. Lead the way. Unless..." She considered that since he'd shown her what he could do, perhaps she should return the favour. Flying would be a lot faster than walking, if she could carry him but part of her mind was still doubtful about showing what she really was to anyone. Partly because she thought they'd laugh at her but mainly due to her fear of them handing her over to ink. Though he was like her, so maybe he wouldn't. Walking was okay anyway. She went quite quiet as she thought about it.

 

Olive laughed slightly. "I doubt it really matters though. A lot of Ink members are homesick."

As they made it to the outskirts of The City the buildings were more spread apart until there was a cluster of one story shacks then nothing but sand. When a guard passed by Olive showed off her badge and they were allowed to continue without needing to say any more. Once she reached the fence and took a deep breath in and let it go slowly. "It is nice... The fresh air."



Azure stepped into the storage building and looked around. The air was musty, something she wasn't all that used to, so she coughed a few times. They seemed to have many things, most of which she never even heard of, all stacked on metal shevles or packed away in boxes. The lights were dim so the room was poorly lit.

She moved around it absent-mindly as she finally stopped the think if she really was going through with this.

BIC: Mya walked into the storage room as well. She gave out a few coughs as she wasn't too fond of the dust as well. She looked around the foreign room, looking for anything particular. So Azure, you find anything useful for this jouney?

 

Vincent sighed, the crisp breaze brushing his hair. Pulling off his long trench coat, he set it on the fence and unfurled his wings. Their white luster returning from the sunlight. "It's good to be outside again." Rolling his shoulders and stretching he grinned at Olive. "Homesick....yeah lets call it that. I do miss Heaven, but...not the way I was treated there. It wasn't Heaven to me many of the days I lived there. But centuries have passed since then, and I'm perfectly content living down here. Even if my family was....taken from me." he put it simply. Shaking off his gloom, he pushed his wings out further, a slight pop came from each as they extended even further and he sighed in relief. "Been a long time since I've been able to fully stretch like this."

 

It had been awhile. Matt had remained quiet as they traveled in the direction, now that things had grown slightly awkward due to his mistake. He knew that he couldn't keep this up though, and how rude it must be that he hadn't even said a word to this person whom had agreed to help him.
Then he simply popped out the question, "So, you live around here? Never seen you around before."He didn't actually live down there to begin with, so it wasn't like that question made too much sense in the first place. But the fact was, he needed to keep things going of he was to keep her around.

"Um...I'm not sure." She looked around once more. "What do you think we might need?"


Olive frowned slightly as she listened, unsure how to reply. She simply looked at him before staring forward. It was surreal really. Everything. Heaven, The Waste, The City, Ink, Sin. Like it was some kind of dream. A dream that she couldn't wake from and was never changing. "Perhaps you should do so more often, spread your wings out that is. It'd be bad if they became weak."

 

"Oh, yeah, sort of. I'm around some place, though I tend to move around and keep to myself generally. You never know what secrets people are hiding in a place like this." She shook her head, smiling, she found it easy to talk to him but she'd decided to keep what she was to herself for now. It didn't seem nessesary or appropriate. She'd tell him if there came a time. "So how about you? You don't sound like you are." She asked. She was curious about him, he really intrigued her and made her want to descover more. Saying that, she always was too curious about things.

 

Vincent laughed at Olive's words, "Yeah, stretch more often. That's a laugh. You know how many people stop and stare at an angel in the City? It's why I wear that coat, and it's not like I can go outside very often. Ink always has something for me to do so I don't often get a break." Pausing, he sighed out the fresh air, "You remember this morning? I was trying to meditate, but since severing my connection with Heaven...it's not going to happen." Flinging himself one handed over the fence, his wings flapped hard and lurched into the sky. "Stay safe Olive, I'll be back in a few!" he called down to her and shed the shirt he wore to loosen the feeling of being trapped.

"You can strech in the Ink building. Everyone is used to seeing weird things there and know you." She didn't realize that her words went unheard as Vincent took off. She sighed and looked back towards the buildings. Ink really made so many lives stressful.

 

Vincent drifted along lazily through clouds and empty sky. It's sort of like home. The clouds, free space...minus the whole Heaven isn't really Heaven. So without the random curfew and fire arrows...it's better here. I can deal with cramped spaces. The wind carried him over the City and he stared down at the people wandering in the streets. There lives are so short compared to mine...I wonder how long Olive will live.

 

A human figure limped through the sands of the waste, his black flesh dripping from him like acid, burning away slightly at the ground. Smoke came from his mouth in the darkest gray, vanishing from sight only after reaching high in the sky. It soon came upon a town in the distance. Someone standing in a tower shouted that there was trouble, and instantly afterward fifty more figures like this one sprouted like weeds from the sand, scattered about the first one. No longer limping and instead running, they all headed towards the town.

Shiira heard the warning and drew her smaller blade before running off in the direction the monsters were coming from. She stood at the edge of the town, soon joined by others holding various weapons. "Make sure all sides of the town are protected, we shall not fall victim for any traps." The one she spoke to nodded and shouted for people to protect the town. In almost no time at all there was a wall around the town made of people with only small gaps between each person.

 

Mya walked by Shiira and Grey. Danger? We can handle this right? We won't let this town fall. She pulled out her bow.

Shiira looked behind her only to find the man from the forest there. What was his name again? She thought, already looking ahead once more. "Help all you want. Just don't get in the way." She spoke with a smug grin, unsure if he saw it or not. That was unimportant either way. She then looked to the girl, and saw that the one with the bear claws had also joined them. All three of the forest dwellers were here now. "No worries. This is actually a daily thing. Or weekly. One of the two." She said matter-of-factly and shrugged. She spun her sword once before running off, after saying 'bet I can kill more than you' to one of her friends. Then few of the others followed after her while the rest stayed behind. Someone had to hold the barrier after all, and they were either long distance fighters with bows or guns or just not the best of fighters.

Upon reaching the first of the monsters Shiira cut it in half, swinging her blade to the side with ease and not stopping for a moment before moving on to the next.


Azure gluped, wishing she could be as conifdent as Shiira. But she was one of the four mages, with one of the others and well repsected person here. She couldn't show her fear. "I do know a lot of offensive magic...But I will stay out of the front lines and offer support." She said to Grey and Mya, wondering why she even left the forest.

 

OOC: I'm still waiting for Malice/somebody to do something with Aywa and Matt.
