Or maybe a text box scene? Those aren't often in the game scripts I see...

Hmm, well I've went through all Ansem Reports too and cannot find anything that says the Keyblade 'alone' can destroy Heartless. I could swear there was 'something' that indicated that but now I will have to play the game again because otherwise there is nothing to support that. Since it is unlikely without evidence, I'd gather that instead, the Keyblade does send them back to where they should go, but at the same time perhaps any "Magical" weapon also can do so. Heartless are attracted to the Keyblade and the Keyblade wielder's heart but after reading the Ansem reports entirely again (both games), and looking about, I am not sure why in the end Xemnas then 'needed' Sora and Roxas. The best guess I can give is that not only can the Keyblade destroy the Heartless, but the Heartless come out to get at the Keyblade and wielder and are drawn to their power. So, it's kind of like putting up a bug light to kill bugs faster rather than going about swatting them by hand.

True, but nonetheless, it's still classified as one. Also, we have no idea if there are other like it but hasn't been present in the series yet.

The theory my friend and I came up with is that heartlees can be killed by many weapons, but only the keyblade sends the hearts to Kingdom Hearts. The Organization soon figured this out so they got the keyblade masters to do their work for them.

I know what implied that. You start off on an island, and when you see heartless, you cannot kill them using your sword. Then you get the keyblade, which makes short work of them. You land in Traverse town, and everyone starts acting as if you are the Messiah. You are never specifically told what it does, but you stumble along and end up locking worlds, so we figure hey the blade is the only heartless killing weapon.

As for Riku's keyblade in KH1, that was much like the keyblades in BBS. No chain. Therefore I assume Xehanort knew how to make a quick, fake keyblade.
