"No, I wasn't appointed leader. I was just told to choose the teams and figure out what the hell we do. I wasn't made the leader, but I may as well have been. I only drooled a little, and what the **** is wrong with that? I see something I want and I drool, you got a problem with that? I ain't going to get anyone killed by going on this mission, in fact I am going to carry your sorry ass, but I'll only be able to do that if you pull your head out of it first and let me do my goddamn job. I don't know if you've noticed, but killing people is kind of my job. I get paid to do it, and I do a damn good job of it, while you sit around practicing all your gentlemanly crap. We do things my way, we live. We do things your way, and we might live but the process of doing it is going to suck so bad we'll wish we hadn't" Hunter growled, his voice rising in volume slightly. He'd rather put up with a billion Lances than put up with this crap. Actually, when he thought about it, maybe he wasn't that annoyed with this situation. Two Lances maybe. Maybe one and a half. Okay, Aedion wasn't quite as bad as Lance. But damn he was close.

"You were not told any of that. I stated that we needed to change the teams, pointed out why and was going to let our spineless leader decide so he could feel like he was doing something, then you just blurted out teams. Neoph is too much of a coward to say anything against the teams so he agreed. I then gave him another chance to do something by asking which team when where and again you didn't even give him a chance to speak or agree with anything before making up your mind and making him feel like he has to leave. That isn't being asked to do crap it is imposing your opinion on someone who won't stand up for himself. He may be spineless and not that intelligent but he is still our leader over all and deserves some sort of respect, unlike you." Aedion stood his ground. In some ways he was defending Neoph, while in others he was simply insulting the guy. However what he said was more than true.

Then there was the comment about carrying them through this mission like Aedion couldn't handle himself. Aedion simply glared at Hunter.
"Being a killer is not something to be proud of. But for the record I can hold my own thank you very much. I am not the useless b*stard that you think I am. Now piss the hell off. I will give you no respect so I hope you don't expect any. You can act all leaderly but don't expect me to listen to half of what you say, I will still be making my own judgments and the others can choose who they prefer to follow." Aedion stated clearly more than annoyed at this point.

With every word Aedion spoke, Hunter found his attention span dwindling more and more. Eventually he wasn't even listening, he just started watching people as they walked past. As soon as Aedion finished speaking, he turned his back on him. "It ain't a matter of pride, captain cocky, it's a matter of survivin'. You can hate me all you like, but you've seen the amount of people I've pissed off and gotten into fights with. If there's one thing I know how to do, it's survive. Keep arguing with me, see how much sympathy you get from our enemies" the male said. He began walking away, but stopped after three steps. "And if you keep talking like that, it's not just them that you're going to have to watch out for" he threatened, before continuing onwards. It wasn't long before he found Ana. With a grumble Hunter leaned against a wall and crossed his arms. "Ana, right? Sorry you had to hear....and I guess see that. That guy rubs me the wrong way. I might be a dick, in fact I know I am, and I cause all sorts of trouble, but I can tell you right now that if anyone's got a chance of getting us through this suicide mission alive, it's me. Just thought you should know that" Hunter said, his voice low and quiet. He hated apologizing more than anything.

Ana jolted into the waking word just as Hunter began to speak. Wait, had he actually used her name? And he was...apologizing? Despite her annoyance at being woken so suddenly, she found herself stunned into silence as she listened to him speak. He was actually apologizing for his behavior. Hunter. She looked up at the blue sky, just to make sure the world hadn't yet ended. It seemed everything was still in order, but she double checked to make sure there was no smoke or burning houses anyway.
"It's....fine I guess." She stifled a yawn as she stretched before getting to her feet, scythe in hand. "But if someone's going to wake me up from a well deserved nap, they could at least do it a little more gently." She grumbled, despite having told Zeal to yell at her just minutes before. Still...she found herself kind of in awe, feeling like she had witnessed a historical moment. She committed it to memory, in case it never happened again. "So, just Aedion and then we can go save people and do great stuff." She sighed, rubbing her temples with her free hand.

Kala was still frozen doing whatever she did last, waiting for the creator to move the monster.

Tessa wandered the streets of the small town, the bow gently bumping against her back as she strolled along. The people here friendly, but they seemed to be hiding a shadow in their hearts. She frowned as she looked around, taking in the sights and sounds. Yes, something was wrong. She could almost a finger on it, but not quite, as though it was a thought that appeared and slipped away. "Hm. Perhaps I should stay for a while." She murmured, her bow a sudden comfort at her back. Her fingers itched to grab an arrow from her quiver, but she withheld the desire. It would not speak well for her that she drew her bow in the safety of the town borders. And she didn't want to start any trouble right off the bat.

Hunter had walked away but Aedion remained, his knuckles turning white from how hard he was clenching his fists. "You think I don't know how to survive? My father has made some really powerful enemies in his time and do you think they care how young and innocent you are? No they will attack you and your family ruthlessly. Try to murder you on numerous occasions, you have to fight and learn to survive. I never asked for any of this, and I sure as hell don't like having to watch every meal to make sure it isn't poisoned and watch my back every step of the way, but I do. I know how to truly survive." He mumbled, not really talking to Hunter any more, not really talking to anyone. He was just annoyed.

Aedion walked over to Ana and Hunter and simply leaned against the wall away from them, just watching waiting to go. He didn't care to argue anymore. The entire issue of him not being leader was just to please his father. His father was the one that wanted him to take command of Neophs group, or at least second. Aedion couldn't care less. In fact he wasn't that thrilled about being there in the first place. He would rather run off and enjoy his life his way. But no, he had to do stupid publicity stunts and raise his power so when he took over for his father, he could surpass him in power. None of this was Aedion wishes but he followed along anyways.

Back hunched a little while feet moved back and forth in a rather childish rhythm as he sat on the kitche counter. Little jaw worked flawlessly at getting the paopu crackers chewed into soft mushy bits as to easily pass through esophagus where it'd then fall into the stomach. From there stomach acids would do the rest in digesting and metabolizing the calories, fat, etc. The small adolescent had dull eyes, clearly bored from the lack of excitement. Ana, Hunter, Spectre, and Aedion had gotten lucky in being together in the action packed group; well kind of. Yu jumped off the counter, landing with ease while holding onto the cracker box to slowly make his way back to the area where Lance and Aella most likely would be. After having heard Hunter and Aedion bicker over trivial things, Yu couldn't help but feel SLIGHTLY lucky that he had not ended up in that team. From the looks of it, both of them were born leaders and yet....

A sigh escaped the boy upon arriving back to the meeting room. There they were, just standing around silently. Oh forget this...

"I'll take a head start in asking around the town, if you guys don't mind...?" he queried rhetorically.

Pushing the door open, Yu walked out of the room with cracker box still in hand and a belt well equipped with new found rations from the kitchen. He closed the door behind him, and made his way out of the street to wherever his feet would take him. Instantly things already felt better upon walking. People were filling the streets, merchants did their merchant things, guards patrolled doing their guard duties, and everyone was having a normal day as it seemed. A small smile formed beneath the cowl that wrapped around his lower face. This was so much better than being cooped up in that building. It was so much better than waiting for something to happen. A couple eyes landed on him and his strange appearance, but the little boy merely ignored them as he began to approach people for questioning. Minutes went by to nearly half an hour. It was...uninformative. The conversations all started perfectly, everyone giving the boy their full attention until they realized he was being serious about the questions regarding the incident. He was rejected everytime, always with, "Oh...! Perhaps it's best you don't know. Besides, someone like you shouldn't be focusing on that." or "Kid, you're WAY in over your head. Just stop while you can."

Why am I not being taken seriously?

He had just finished a conversation with a woman, turning his back to her in order to walk away. Right hand curled into a small fist while hat leaned forward, the brim of hat casting a shadow over face. Hell, even Aedion had treated him like some child that needed protection back at the forest. For goodness sake, even Ana! She wasn't even there when he had to fend off heartless on his own as a mercenary, she wasn't there when he had to escort a merchant from a village to a town, or outright survive in the world on his own! None of them knew him, so just...why?

Empty cracker box fell to the street as Yu continued to walk in down cast, brows furrowing in displeasure.

    I'm not a child...not anymore...

Not paying attention to the road, he wasn't wary of a passerby and it resulted in him bumping into someone. The opposing force quickly overwhelmed his small frame as he felt the repercussion of the light impact. He stumbled back slightly, almost losing his footing on the last step. His hat titled back to reveal sapphire eyes as he stared up to see a female with a bow and quiver.

    "Huh?"

Zeal nodded at Ana's request and just stood there waiting for either Hunter or Aedion to show up. It wasn't a very long wait for Hunter was the first to show up and had gone to apologize to Ana before Zeal could wake her. Meh, she said she was a light sleeper so that just meant she would be up when Aedion showed up. Which wasn't too much longer after Hunter had arrived. Now everyone was here. "Now that everyone is here, let's to wherever it is that we're going to."

"It's not my fault if you fall asleep in just a few seconds of laying down. I'll do it a little more gently next time. Maybe I'll prod your body gently with a pointed stick. Or maybe I'll do it with a pointed di-" Hunter started to say, before breaking out into a coughing fit, cutting himself off. This continued for a tiny bit, before he regained his composure.

Hunter stood still, thinking for a moment. Yes, you read that correctly. Hunter was thinking. "That'd be a great idea. I, your leader, will lead us on the path to victory" the man said. He made no move for a moment before realizing a very, very big problem. He couldn't recall what their mission was. He cleared his throat. "However, every good leader needs to respect the opinions of his team. I can't do that, can't even come close, but I can pretend I can. So, Aedion, what would your take be on what we ought to do?" Hunter asked.

"You don't have the slightest clue what you are doing? Do you? After all you would never ask me for an opinion otherwise. You are the big strong fearless leader who apparently knows how to keep us all alive. That is your job to figure out, not mine. Besides apparently I don't know how survive unlike you." Aedion retorted in a mocking tone, refusing to help. He actually considered going home, and considering what was waiting for him at home that was a shock. Aedion was only ever home to eat and sleep and when his father ordered him home for one of his annoying lectures. But even that had to be better than dealing with Hunter. The only reason he was willing to stick around was in order to help keep everyone else alive when Hunter inevitably messed up.

Ana opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out except for a squeaking noise. She shut it, cleared her throat, and tried it again. "If you need to poke a sleeping girl with your manhood, then you are clearly still a virgin." She hoped it sounded more confident then she felt, as her cheeks flushed with embarassment. She hoped that neither Zeal nor Aedion had heard what he said as she quickly turned away and walked towards the middle of the street, using the excuse of stretching her legs. "Pick a direction." She suggested as she put one foot, toes pointed in front, and swinging it to the side before placing it next to the other. As she repeated the move with the other foot, feeling the muscles flex and move. The work made her relax, feel more comfortable.
"Can't we all just get along?" She muttered to herself.

Tessa reached out to steady the young man, her own eyes meeting his as she smiled with kindness. "I'm sorry, I guess I didn't see you there." She apologized, letting her hand fall to her side. "I'm Tessa. Just traveling through. Do you live here?" She asked, looking over her shoulder at the other townspeople before turning back to the young man with another smile. She sensed no threat from the boy, but the town still made her itch, telling her something wasn't right. Once again she got the premonition she should stay, help out. Perhaps this young man would be able to tell her what was going on.

Eyes rested on the girl, feeling an ounce of guilt as she helped him stay on his feet and then apologizing to him. "O-oh it's ok... Hi Tessa..." he uttered barely, shying away underneath his hat. Tessa. This girl looked like she was looking for something, the obvious sign being how she constantly looked around. It was further realized that this Tessa lady did not live here when she asked him if he lived here. A townsfolk would know faces of the towns people, or rather would have a decent sense of it. "No... " he simply spoke, gauging whether to say anything else. A bow and quiver were her weapons. A rather interesting choice for armaments considering she could have gone with anything else. Cloak concealed his hand as it touched the holster to his side. They were both long ranged fighters as it would seem. Something they have in common.

"I see you use a bow and quiver. Do you hunt with it or is that more of a weapon when out traveling on the road? I rarely see people use arrows anymore..." he started, trying to get the conversation going. He could have given her his name; specifically last name, but it had slipped his mind. Then it hit him. Before she could finish anything in response to his earlier question, he queried, "Have you heard anything about the incident that happened on the island that's swarming with Nobodies? Do you know anyone who may know of it?"

    NEOPH

Neoph was waiting for everyone to get their stuff together when Yu came by and began heading deeper into town. It didn't really register with Neoph for awhile that this kid was on his team and by the time that it did, he was out of sight. "H-Hey, you're--!" Neoph began to call out, but stopped when he realized it wouldn't do him any good. "Damn it... stay here." He told the others, taking off in the direction Yu went. He searched for awhile and was just about to give up when he saw the boy talking to an unfamiliar woman. He approached the two. "Hey, we're headed for the docks. That's our mission location." Neoph smiled. "Just so you know, you're going the wrong way." He then turned his attention to the woman. "I don't believe i've seen you before. Traveler?" He kept a friendly smile and tried to keep his tone very casual. He made it a habit to talk to strangers in town. He had caught more than one would-be troublemaker this way. She was armed too. While not unusual for people to be armed nowadays, Neoph had to ascertain her intentions before moving on. And if she wasn't a troublemaker and more than a little skilled with that bow, maybe he'd ask her to come along. They would need all the help they could get after all.

In the Forest North of Roland's Ford...

Kala's final blow seemed to do what she aimed for it to do. With one final shriek, the Nobody's two halves dissipated into darkness. The man in the tree watched, amused. A thick, impenetrable darkness came over him and once it cleared, he was no longer in the tree, but behind Kala. "Impressive." He said, giving her a round of applause. "Seems I was right about you. It didn't stand a chance." The man didn't give Kala a chance to speak, and would watch any potential hostile reaction without changing the grin on his face. Kala would likely recognize the man's attire and voice from earlier that day. He wasn't wearing his hat this time however, so she could see his face in the pale moonlight. He was in his early twenties by the looks of it. He was handsome, though the confident, proud look to him may have helped with that. His hair was the easiest thing to pick out. It was colored silver and cut short. The bangs spiked up a good inch and a half. His eyes were eerie, carrying a sinister yellow glow that seemed almost otherworldly. "Allow me to introduce myself. You can call me... Osiris. You'll forgive me for sending one of my lackeys after you. I had to be sure you were as strong as I suspected. You were all that and more."

Ana remained still and silent to see what Hunter's decision would be, if Aedion would still accompany them and what Zeal thought of all of this.

Kala felt triumphant, right until that cold voice emanated from the trees. She turned to see the Hat Man, though this time without his hat. She got a good look at his face and strange silver hair as he introduced himself. "Osiris. Isn't that a god of death?" She asked, hefting her sword up a little higher. While her body was able to withstand decent amounts of damage, she did need medical attention. She could sense the power radiating from this man, and if he wanted a fight, which his words seemed to indicate he didn't, she would be completely screwed. And not in the good way.
"Why send something out to test a possible soldier for your...purposes, if that soldiers then gets injured?" She asked, though her heart fluttered at the thought of more battle in the future. "Your words are kind, but assuring me of something I already am doesn't serve your purpose." She forced her heart rate to accelerate, pumping adrenaline into her her blood as she prepared for a second fight. It also staved off the pain quite nicely.

    "What now?"

"HI." She smiled sweetly at the shy man before shifting her stance, easing the strain on her legs. "I use the bow as a weapon, the arrows I make myself. They fly truer that way." She frowned, crossing her arms over her chest. "Island of Nobodies? What are you talking about?" That sounded dangerous. Before the man could answer, a second came looking for him. She glanced him over before answering. "I am a traveler yes. Do you realize you have a island of Nobodies? Point me in the direction and I'll go take care of it." She reached back to check the number of arrows she held in her quiver. She had the number memorized, but it was more of a nervous reaction then an actual action itself.
"I promise, I'm more then qualified to handle this problem."

    NEOPH

Neoph looked down at Yu when the woman mentioned the island of Nobodies. Apparently, this kid didn't know that the group operated with some degree of secrecy. He intrigued however when she offered to take care of it herself. Was this fate? Neoph didn't believe in such idle fantasies, but this woman showing up right when they needed her was quite the lucky break. Neoph turned to the woman. "Well, it just so happens we're headed there ourselves. You're more than welcome to come along if you want." Neoph looked as though he realized something. "Oh, sorry. My name is Neoph, I run the local militia. Nice to meet you."

    OSIRIS

"What now?" Osiris repeated her question and took a few steps forward. "Well, that depends entirely on you." He held out his hand just as he was barely out of arms reach of her. "Breathe." He said quietly. Right after he said that, Kala would feel a burning sensation where her wounds were. If she cared to look, she would see the cuts magically stitching back together, then she would feel rejuvenated, as if she had woken up from a long nap. "Magic. It's rather useful." Osiris dropped his hand to his side. "Oh, and before I forget..." He reached into the breast of his cloak and pulled out a leather case. It was about the size of a book and the same shape as well. "I found these in my travels. I thought they would be of some interest to you." He held the case out to her. If Kala took the case and opened it, she would see a collection of papers. On the front was her name, age, and other information as well as a photo of her. The rest of the ten pages contained even more information on her. "That is report one of twenty." He would say if she flipped through it.

"Please, I know exactly what to do. I was just giving you the chance to make yourself useful, but apparently you can't even do that. No wonder your father doesn't show up, he'd probably die of embarassment" Hunter said with a slight laugh. "Interrogation's our thing. The other team was recon, I think, and we get to beat the crap out of or ask a guard nicely about his traumatising memories. Should be fun, so the sooner we head to Durlag the better. Men, to the horses!" he proclaimed, before he turned to look at Ana. "Not just men, in case you're wondering" he added, before turning and heading out of the room.

A few minutes later, he was at the stables. He went over immediately to the black stallion. It was arguably the fastest horse out of all of them, if a little wild, so that was important. The leader obviously had to have the fastest horse so his entourage could ride his sweet-ass coattails. The horse was a free spirit, but damn it got the job done. It was also named Boris. "Boris, we meet again" Hunter said simply. This wasn't the first time he'd tangled with Boris. He and Boris had had many confrontations, most of them ending with Hunter walking away with a broken arm or rib. However, Hunter had the best idea ever. He dove forward and slammed a saddle onto the horse's back, and immediately the magic of television put a golden glow around the horse as Hunter acquired a new mount. He then allowed the horse to rear up with dramatic flair as he raised his sword into the sky and pointed it forward. "To Durlag we ride, to ruin some poor guard's day even more!" he roared, before shooting off towards Durlag.

Ana blinked after following Hunter to the stables. Interrogation? Did I miss something? Having been a recent victim of such treatment herself, she shifted nervously. Well...no one said she had to be in the room. And Hunter seemed more then willing to perform such actions. The thought only reaffirmed that she shouldn't trust him. If he was so ready to do unto others what had been done to her, what else was he capable of?

She shook her head and approached one of the smaller horses, a grey mare. "Um...hi." She whispered, holding out her hand hesitantly. The horse nibbled it gently before shaking her head, causing Ana to smile. It was already saddled, but she stared at the creature with more then a little dismay and uncertainty. She had never ridden a horse before. "Okay. Okay." She grabbed the reins and led the horse out of the stable just as Hunter yelled something over his shoulder and took off. Of course he wouldn't wait for them. She turned back and stared at the saddle with unease. There were so many parts. She turned and looked for Zeal and Aedion. Maybe if she saw them get on their horses she could understand how to do it.

Kala's lips twitched as her wounds burned, and she watched the skin magically knit back together. Just as it finished, she reached up to catch the report Osiris tossed her. "One of twenty?" Interest to me? She opened the first page, keeping a watchful eye on the man in front of her, and froze. What the fu-"Where did you get this?" She hissed, flipping through page after page as her eyes widened and her already pale skin whitened further. These weren't supposed to exist. Nothing would have been written down or released. Yet here, in front of her, was page after page detailing her physical features, mental strength and awareness, and skills. There was a picture of her as a young girl, staring at the camera with wide eyes, clutching a teddy bear. She remembered that photo being taken. She remembered the fear, and the pain that soon followed.

"What do you want?" She asked, her voice trembling as she looked up, hands clenching the paper, threatening to tear the report with her ferocity. She was upset.

Tessa frowned slightly, but bowed her head. "I am Tessa. Wanderer. I'm not used to working with a group of people, but if you think it would be worthwhile for me to join you, then I shall do so. I must warn you, I'm of little use in close combat." She took her bow into her hands, making sure the string was sound and shifting her quiver so it rested along her hip instead of her shoulder, allowing her right hand easy access to the slew of arrows she had made the other day. "Shall we go then?" She asked Neoph and the boy. "Oh, I don't believe I caught your name." She said kindly to the young man.

Zeal let out a sigh for two reasons as they progress towards the staples. Reason number 1, it had appeared that Hunter was their leader. That was not something that lead to any good expectations of how the mission would go. Reasons number 2, they were the ones doing the interrogating. Why has fate dealt them a bad hand. Why you do this Twisted Fate? WHY!!?? Moving along, when they had gotten to the stables, Zeal took a look at the selections of horses before them before choosing one to get on. Getting on it wasn't a difficult task, he just used the saddle to assist in pulling himself up so that he could sit on the saddle. Now unlike Hunter, Zeal had decided to wait for the others to get on their horses before he would leave.

"Interrogating with Hunter. Oh this will be fun." Aedion mumbled. At least they had Ana and she seemed nice enough to be able to talk with the guy in a civil manner and get some answers out of him. Or at least that was the plan. But then Hunter was always there, thinking he was in charge. With that in mind it may not be as civil as he would like it to be. However he wasn't going to say anything. If Hunter wanted to be in charge then he would let him and simply laugh when it exploded in his face.

Aedion turned and walked the other direction from where the horses were stabled.
"I will catch up in just a moment." He said as he walked towards his own private stables to get his horse. He was not going to ride one he was not familiar with. Lucky for him one of his stables that were around town was only about a block away from the other one, so off he went. Aedion soon trotted up to the other stable on a beautiful white, pure bread mare. As he approached he saw Hunter heading off but Ana still not on her horse. He dismounted his, dropping the reins knowing his horse wouldn't go anywhere before approaching Ana and her horse, patting the horse gently on the neck. "Do you need a hand mounting her?" He asked Ana, offering his help.

Ana blinked when Aedion walked off, wondering if he wasn't coming back. Perhaps he had only waited until Hunter had left to avoid causing more disturbances between the two. But then he came back, on one of the prettiest horses Ana could have imagined. Is there anything about this guy that isn't just -Nope. Not going there. She blushed as he approached her, biting her lip to keep her emotions centered. Everyone had baggage, and until she understood what his was, she couldn't be certain he didn't like torturing people just as much as Hunter did. Ah confusing thoughts. She nodded in response to his question and turned to face her horse once more, gripping the mane perhaps a little more tightly then she should have. The horse neighed, and Ana scooted back a few feet, skittish once more. Even though she had picked the smallest horse, it just seemed so much bigger then what she had imagined.

    NEOPH

Neoph was more than a little surprised at how quickly she accepted. Maybe she'd join the militia after the mission is taken care of? They could definitely use more ranged fighters. Neoph got a strange feeling about this one, but he liked her spirit. With a nod and a smile, he said "That's the spirit. Follow me." He turned to leave. "Oh, and don't worry about not being good in close quarters combat. We've got you covered." He led Tessa and Yu back to the others. "Everyone, this is Tessa. She'll be joining us for the mission. Everyone ready?"

    OSIRIS

"I don't want much of anything, really." Osiris looked at his nails as if he was checking them for dirt. "I'm in the business of helping individuals like yourself, believe it or not. You see, I too love battle and chaos. And I will take every opportunity I can to spread it..." He paused. "...and reward it." He took a few more steps until only a few feet separated them. "I travel quite a bit, delving into ruins and places long since forgotten by "civilized" people. I look for long-forgotten lore, and I have found many things that are quite useful to me. I delved into a ruined lab weeks ago, and on the floor, the pages of this report were scattered. So I picked them up and resolved to find the person in the picture. That being you."
