Abel relaxed his grip but didn't let go of the hilt. "It's going to take more time than that to make me believe something like that about him."

 

" Well if your brother truly had it in for you kid, he would have left you there or worse kicked you out of the group, but you see , he kept you here. I think he still has a attachment towards you. You know, he only got the chance to know you for only a few days, he couldn't wait to be your big brother, he always wanted a sibling and he got excited the day he found out your mother was carrying you. But when Phisoxa died he couldn't help himself because the event was partially his fault and he struggled to try get to you, but your father took you in before he could. He may not seem like it, but he is glad that you remain unaffected. "

 

"Unaffected? You talk about my father like he is some sort of disease." Abel said, still trying to defend Mixt. "Okay, even if you're right about my brother what about the other two?" Abel said nudging his head over at Zero and Midory.

"But Atem attacked him when he was leaving! I'm not saying my father doesn't hold some blame but you all talk like he's completely responsible for that. At least tell me how you can hate him so much but be friends with the other one in that fight?" Mixt asked.

Atem stopped dead in his tracks and bothered not to turn around and look at Atem while he responded.
" It is because he left Mom and I without much reason while doing it. He had a wonderful family, a estate, a home, friends, everything . . . but he had to give it up for the darkness, because he is weak !!!. If he kept on caring about us both then I would have followed him into hell anyways and we wouldn't be fighting by now."
He said as he spun around to look at the child.

 

"So sacrifice is weak now?" Abel said angerly as he stared into his brother's eyes. Then he continued in a softer tone "Nothing can be made without cost. Remember?... He watched his family fall apart because of his dream and now practically everyone hates or fears him. He could of left the worlds how they were but he wanted something more. Look around you. Father tells stories of war that happened year after year and here I haven't seen a war in my entire life. It's true that I'm young still, but surely that counts for something."

" It is not because he went to pursue his dream, but in order to do it, he sacrificed his feelings for us, you know if mother stayed alive and kept you around, he would have ignored you as well. You just don't get it, you can't accept it when someone you love dearly for many years, ever since you were born finally decides out of the blue to pack up and leave. Huh? Abel grew sad, he still believed in his father but Atem's argument starting weighing on him "I don't know. But he offered for you to come but you and mother didn't want to join him. Was he supposed to abandon this just to keep you happy? He's got more courage than I ever could. I know you don't like where it left you, and I have no right to ask you not to hate him, but can't you at least apreciate what was gained?"

 

zero put his hand on atem shoulder "calm down he got no foul for that atem his just like us use by mixt he let the kid like nothing here "

 

" Even if I did follow him it wouldn't be the same, watching mother suffer everyday because of what kept them apart would be hell. Anyways she has already went through something like this once, except, her last run in with darkness drunken Mixt got herself killed when she was still very young. Even after he killed her, she forgave him and now after the second betrayal, mother still stayed true to him."

 

"So you need to be angry for her? Is that it? Is that what she would want? If she can forgive him then why can't you?" Abel asked.

 

" I may be her son, but I'm not going to just forgive something like that so easily. Mother may look like she is happy on the outside, but really she suffers on the inside, in turn the darkness that suffering causes is what I have become. . ."
