The Legend of Dragoon

Michael unwrapped the book.

"Thank you, Kai. What did Zephyr tell you?"

"Michael, you are so dense! Don't you even know what today is?"

 

"She told me it was your birthday today. She helped me pick out what to get you." Kai blushed as she looked at her feet.

 

"Don't be embarrased." Michael said as he reached forward to hug Kai.

 

"Happy birthday, Michael." Kai hugged him back.

 

A guard ran into the inn.

"Excuse me. Sorry to interrupt you, my lord, but the doctor is requesting your presence at his office."

"Why is that?"

"Apparently, a woman was found outside the town, badly injured. She was calling your name before she passed out."

"Really? That's strange....I guess I had better go check it out. Are you going to come with me, Kai?"

 

"Sure." Kai nodded. "Wait, why did he call you 'lord'?"

 

"I'll tell you later."

They entered the clinic.

"This way, my lord."

They were brought to a bed with a white haired woman wearing a white robe sleeping in it.

"Strange...I feel like I have seen this woman before...."

"I'll enter her mind and see who she is, and what happened to her."

Zephyr dissapeared.

 

"Her hair......" Kai stared at Michael. "It's like yours."

 

Suddenly, Cliff burst in. His armor was covered with dents. "Help." he said, before collapsing, unconscious.

 

"Cliff!" Kai helped him onto a bed.

 

He lay there, breathing heavily. His armor was crushing his lungs.

 

'I have to get that armor off him,' Kai said to herself.

 

His breathing got fainter and fainter and soon it stopped altogether.

 

Kai gasped and took his armor off his body. She gasped as she got the last piece. 'What do I tell Sophia?'

 

He lay there, turning purple from lack of air.

 

'Breathe already, Cliff! Breathe!'

 

Cliff heard her but couldn't do anything. He just stood there, watching his body and Kai.

 

Kai sighed and said, "You're a spirit and I can feel you, Cliff."

 

"Please help me." he said. "I can't do anything." He saw a bright light in the distance and started walking towards it.

 

Kai wanted to follow him, but she walked back to Micheal. She sighed. "Michael, could this be..... your mother?"
