You're such a purist, yo. XD It's an adaptation, not a clone. But honestly, it hasn't interested me a bit, let alone enough to watch it. Air Gear is the perfect comparison, but I think the anime is the perfect parallel. It's just generic.

    Liking Alma.
    In 2013.

    Get out.

But in all seriousness, giving a series to someone else is the worst possible thing you can do. To me it should be considered a cardinal sin of storywriting to just think you can let someone else do it. It's why the American comic industry is pumping out these massive sprawling, garbage heaps of continuities that have long since rotted to the roots and ruined the industry. The reason why this is bad is because the only person who can truly know and understand where to take the series in its true form, for better or worse, is the original author. Any other person touching the continuity taints it with new perspective and ideas that do not belong in the universe at all. Also, I wouldn't blame someone for wanting to continue a) making enough money to afford a living rather than gambling on starting over entirely and b) writing a story they want to tell.[DOUBLEPOST=1389078271][/DOUBLEPOST]
You're not interpreting me correctly. It looks different in an explicitly bad way and that's why I don't like it.

I also compared it to Air Gear because it went of the rails into conspiracy theory land and no other reason.

It has become abundantly clear to me that discussing this at all would be pointless because our opinions are polar opposites.

ps I did not say I like Alma I said the arc about him was good. comparatively. and its 2014.

That's fine. I actually almost mentioned that at the end but figured you'd know.

Also, wow it is. Fuck me and my life.

WAIT YOU BOTH AGREED TO DISAGREE?

    THAT WAS IT?

This can be a good place.[DOUBLEPOST=1389080271][/DOUBLEPOST]
I hate to ask this because I'm glad the disagreements ended before arguements and and over-abundance to explain one side and conflict but like.... can't an adaptation be taken into consideration for quality without comparing it to the original? Like, just exist on its own merits for its own qualities? Not so much a change as a new spin?

EDIT: Clarification: Below liked this BEFORE the double post.

    I am disappoint.

But really, just kick everything and use strong slashes until you build your character up. Most enemies you fight early on can't take a jump attack, let alone two-three strong shots. And don't be afraid to repeat an area for more souls.

I think that's a really shallow and simplistic way of looking at things but you can ignore the source material if you want to, it's a personal preference just as much as a certain series or genre may be. Though, I think you've a misapprehension of what I meant again. I don't like the character art in the animation of D.Gray-Man. Period. That statement would stand whether I liked the manga art or not, you see. I'm not saying that it's different therefore it's bad. I'm saying that the fact that it's bad is the difference.[DOUBLEPOST=1389082328][/DOUBLEPOST]
    Start a new character.

    Rush Attunement to 23.
Build Int/Fth the rest of the game.

    You're welcome.[DOUBLEPOST=1389082382][/DOUBLEPOST]
Kicking is objectively worse than learning to parry.

Be patient, observe your surroundings. DkS is an "enemy puzzle" game: You encounter enemies in configurations and you have to figure out the best course based on their/your strengths, weaknesses, and gear. Just be attentive and resourceful, and explore as much as possible so you have lots of items.

Do you have a build in mind? Even something vague like tank or mage.

That's a funny way to say "Gouge DEX & END, rush Halberd & Greatscythe"

DON'T FUCKIN TALK TO THIS KID HE DID EVERYTHING WRONG AND STILL GOT THROUGH THE GAME IN A DAY

LIKE HE'S AUTISTIC OR SOMETHING I SERIOUSLY DON'T GET IT

    Wait I lied.
STR 16 is a must. Do that after Attunement.

Zweihander is in the graveyard, don't be a pussy, go get it and the binoculars early.[DOUBLEPOST=1389082677][/DOUBLEPOST]
Nigga get out. Polearms are for the weak.

But in all seriousness, Zweimage is the easiest class for newcomers imo. Most of the time your enemies are out of range or lying on the ground with this build and you get actual legitimate amounts of healing as opposed to the 5-10 estus bullshit.

    What have I done.

Yo 3 hours later and I killed the Tauros Demon and the Fang Boar or whatever it's called. Trying to take the first Knight on was ugh so I'll just come back to it. Spear OP.

    K

I figured that part out lol. And exploration is IN MY BLOOD.

Just the standard speedy warrior for now. I'm pretty good with parrying basic enemies but Knights are a different story.

I fell in love with the scythe the moment I saw it in a video my friend looked up for the Capra Demon. Dat range hnnnng.

If you can off one of those Black Knights, they might drop their sword, which is damn good for the early areas. If you beat the boar, you're coming up on the Halberd, which all joking aside is a strong and versatile weapon, if a little slow. You can also kill the Burg vendor for an Uchigatana if DEX weapons are more your speed.

Whatever you decide on, remember to upgrade it now and then; more often than not it's WAY more helpful for a quick damage boost than spending those souls on a couple points of STR.

I need to drag this back up. Spoilers just in case (Soul Eater spoiler tho)

I actually enjoyed Soul Eater. It had likeable characters, great fight scenes, etc. But the ending pissed me off. The same goes for Claymore. Both felt rushed and diverged greatly from the manga. I know this happens with most anime, and they could be left open for continuation, and in most cases they do with more seasons being released, but with these two it doesn't. The endings are absolute with the main villain being dealt with in some inane manner (the main characters aren't strong enough then suddenly OP OUT OF NOWHERE [Maka defeating Asura with a punch to the face AGHHH]).
There's so much more main events that have been missed and I feel they were both wrapped up too soon. Still, watch for half decent plot then ridiculous filler endings

I still recommend the zweihander over the halberd because the overhead in the moveset can hard knockdown almost every regular enemy in the game, including giant skeletons like the ones in the Catacombs, and it outdamages the scythe, too. It also outspaces almost every melee in the mobs, creates a wind off the end of its overhead swings that staggers most enemies and even rips apart small skeletons entirely and basically does the best damage for a 24/16 STR requirement. The advantage of it over a special weapon like the Black Knight Sword is that it can be upgraded to actually scale with a stat. It also works as a backup shield with a 70% physical 10% lightning 50% fire and 50% magic DR if you want to two hand it for the lower STR requirement or the extra 50% damage as the case may be. The only problem I have with it is that it weighs 12 units about and usually is almost equal in weight to my full armor set so swinging it kinda destroys my stamina and I can only swing it twice at a time. The way I balance the drawbacks of the Zweihander is I keep a secondary weapon like the Claymore that I can wield with my shield up and as a mage I can beat some bosses by walking backwards/sideways anyways.

Also, I don't really like polearms in this game because they're slow and not stylish at all.

If you like exploring you should try rolling off ledges onto other ledges whenever you see ledges that might connect. The platforming in this game is incredibly janky and doesn't feel logical a lot of the time but you can find some pretty interesting things by just rolling and praying.

Good tip though since you're going for speed, keep your equip burden below 25% to get a significantly decreased end lag on your rolls. Get it below 16% and that gets even smaller and 8% is even smaller. In this game I recommend never being in a position where you're swag walking or even fat rolling.

Almost all of my experience is from directly in game because I refuse to look up most stuff because it feels cheap and I don't like copying people. So if you ignore all my advice I'll be fine with that too.
