@Illuminaudio my school also doesn't always close when it should. Thankfully they cancelled today due to snow, but if they didn't I wouldn't have been able to come in until around 2:30 because my car was snowed in. Driving to school yesterday was pretty unsafe, I skidded a few times--thankfully it was nothing bad and nobody was around me, but it's still not fun. That said, you're in college which means that attendance isn't... as big of a deal. It varies based on the professor and the college policies, but if you explain to your professor that you didn't feel safe driving to school that day, I can't imagine that they'd penalize you too heavily.

    Screen tearing.
    Slow down.
Dips below 30fps even though it's locked to it.
    Clipping
Removal of shadders such as pitch black shadows
Art style seriously looks plastic and borked.

I skipped more than I would like to admit last semester and I want to.. not do that.. this semester, so that's why I went anyway. That and my mom's a teacher and doesn't like when I don't go to school so I doubt she would have let me stay home seeing as she was home today.

Yay, snow! Too bad January 7 is still the only day we've had snowfall so far this winter, which melted in a few days.

Anyway, it's the school's fault the roads were bad? I'm sorry, try again. You could have just called in and said you couldn't make it because of the roads. Schools, at least here, but it's probably same or similar in other districts, don't typically close because of a little snow. It's only in very extreme cases that schools close, and an extreme case is when it's incredibly icy *without* snow where even just walking has you slipping -- yes, ice is more dangerous than snow. As for the car stopping for no reason, you should have honked; if you had, you might have gotten them moving so you wouldn't have had to break.

During my time at the high school here, we never had any closures, but we did have two delays due to the winter weather, I think (I know there was definitely one) -- one day during, I think, my freshman year, which was two hours, and one day during my junior year, which was three hours (this one I know for sure happened).

Yes, post pictures, because WE NEED SNOW HERE!!!

I think he meant that it was moreso the school's fault for not closing because of the snow storm. Also, school cancellations based on snow differ a lot depending on where you live. My cousin lives in Florida and there was one time where school was cancelled for him because of a foot of snow. Some areas that don't see snow often simply don't have the tools to counteract snow storms as snowier areas such as mine or yours do.

It's like why some place like...Alaska, may have dozens of different words to refer to penguins or something, but New York doesn't. New York doesn't deal all that regularly with penguins, so we don't need to have lots of words for it. In this case, I'm assuming Below's area just usually doesn't see much snow, if any at all, throughout the year, so they probably don't have as many plans to clear the road during snowfall.

When I was in college, the policy used to be 'we close when the hospital closes' which is fancy talk for 'lol we don't close'. Then in my 3rd year, we got a new Administrator who was more willing to close school. Otherwise, her policy was 'use your discretion', which a good chunk of my professors adopted.

I can only recall only one or two times where the campus shut down when I was attending. Though I know it closed twice this winter season. Either due to snow which was blowing and drifting or extreme cold.

School closures usually are determined by how well the plows are clearing the snow and the buses' ability to cope with said snow. At least K - 12. College level may be a little different depending on the nature of the campus in question. If you have students commuting long distances in dangerous driving conditions, the Professor might decide to cancel the class/assign a work day for the students able to attend. [[The college I went to did not have dorms.]]

It really boils down to what your college/school's policy on school closure is.

Well, except for this winter, but I know you're talking overall, and, overall, we do get a lot of snow. :D

Is public transport an option? It's obviously a lot more convenient to just drive yourself, but on the days when the roads are bad, a public bus might be an option to consider.

Toronto's mayor called in the army in the 1990s to clear out a blizzard and became the laughingstock of the other major Canadian cities. Now with the ice storm last month, our mayor (who is the laughingstock of the world) refused to call even emergency services and as a result the reparations from all the damage are still problematic. Each year this city keeps getting more and more topsy-turvy

My school never closes even if half the damn city were to fall into the inner mantle but that is just in its private school policy or some such. So on grueling days where ice storms are completely annihilating the streets, I can be certain that at least a few poor souls will be toughing it out in that tiny building.

I have a thing about public transportation. I don't know if it's a phobia or what but I really resist public transportation.
But no I don't think so. At least it doesn't go to my school. And since the school isn't in the same city that I live in, I don't know how that would work. Point is, even if it is an option driving myself is easier.

Then drive yourself. Otherwise, you better get over your thing of public transportation, because if you don't want to drive, that and riding with a family member or friend are your only other options, though they'll probably be scared to drive on the bad roads, so public transportation is really your only other option.

To be fair I'm kinda the same way, I don't mind trains but public buses freak me out and I don't want to have to take them. But yeah, I guess you've just gotta deal with driving in bad weather. Sucks.

I'm cool with driving in bad weather, just frustrated about today for obvious reasons.

Speaking of Adventure Time, I was out today and saw this beautiful AT artbook. Very high quality and very nice art, hardcover and everything. I don't remember what it was called but there were two volumes I think? I'm not even a fan and I wanted to buy it. However it was so nice that I decided I would give the show a chance, so I'm gonna watch the first season and if I can stomach it I'll continue I guess.

Game is fine on either platform. if you don't have PS Move then the only advantage the Wii has is motion controls, which are really fun in NMH.
